Positives:- Parking, Decor, Room, Views, Location, Surroundings. Negatives:- Customer service - Staff do not speak any English, well barely speak at all, hardly acknowledge you! The bar - for some strange reason, when requested, the staff would not allow us to have our drinks outside on the beautiful terrace, we were cooped up in the small and stuffy indoor bar area which is a massive misuse of the only selling point to this hotel - People come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the amazing views. We were told that the outdoor area is for the restaurant only, however considering that we visited during the pandemic, no one was sitting outside anyway! Additionally to this, yet again the service by the young and in experienced staff let this place down - we struggled to order a simple coke in the bar area, which in 2020 really should not be a problem, especially considering this is a university town! Unfortunately we would not stay here again, which is a shame as the property itself and the location are stunning. …
Only stayed a night here with a mate. The hotel is situated a short drive from the town centre. I don't really know how long it would take to walk it, but it'll certainly take 20mins or more. The hotel looks, very grand and the rooms look pretty decent to. The only thing that looks aged is the bathroom. You have fixtures that look like they're from the 80's. But bar that, everything seemed pretty clean and it was lovely to have a Nespresso machine in the room. The only let down for me was the breakfast, they merely give you a tray containing a boiled egg, two cuts of cured meat, a slice of cheese, a croissant, a yoghurt and some bread. But for me that wasn't enough, especially considering how much i was paying.
Spent one night at the top of the hill at this chateau with beautiful views. Beds were very comfortable and room was big with a good shower. Service was great. The hotel bar was open at night and beers were very reasonable. It appears the hotel does lots of meetings. The city center is a short drive down the hill (don't miss restaurant Chez Bouboule for mussels). While the rooms were very comfortable, some of the hotel is a bit worn, slight musty smell, but nothing that would prevent a good night's sleep.
Stayed two nights in the junior suite. The hotel is in a perfect location, easy walking distance to the citadel and a good base for day trips. The rooms are clean but nothing spectacular. In my opinion, the reason to stay here is the restaurant which is fantastic. Nice to have two dinners as it gave us the chance to try/experience different menu options. The staff was friendly and very helpful, especially the dining room staff. The only negative is the television in the sitting room was not functional and when we mentioned it to the front desk after the first night it was promised to be fixed but was not. Otherwise a great stay and would stay again.
Very nice rooms and meals. Used as a training hotel for younger staff. Beautiful setting with views and within walking distance of the ancient part of the city. Taxi ride into the main town with a good selection of cafes restauants and river walks
