This hotel made me and my partner experienced a fairytale anniversary celebration. Although we didn't informed that we are celebrating our anniversary, the services provided are really great and the place is really magical.
we booked a standard room but we stayed 4 nights in an upgraded spacious, more luxurious corner room with 3 large windows with an incredible silence effect of double windows with multi-layered glass. we heard nothing from the busy traffic junction with cars, buses, trains, .... the location opposite the station was sublime, not only because of the convenience with our luggage, but also to make a train day trip to eg. Dinant. The TEC buses also stop at the door. The shopping streets and restaurants are around the corner.
Couldn't be more convenient, just across from rail station, yet easy walking distance to sights in centre. Elegant entrance, friendly welcome, lovely room with coffee/tea, aircon, Wi-Fi etc; very good bath/shower. Double glazing made it nice & quiet. Lives up to its name; surprised it's only rated 3 star.
I booked this hotel (Grand Hotel de Flandre, Namur) for €63.95. The hotel applied Dynamic Currency Conversion and I ended up paying €68.90. Dynamic Currency Conversion is not allowed by the major bank card issuers unless the customer agrees because the customer, invariably, gets a poor exchange rate. I was not asked, did not know the hotel was doing and certainly did not agree. DCC (dynamic currency conversion) in this hotel’s case can only be applied to non-euro zone issued bank cards i.e. USA, Canada, Australia etc. and you will possibly not realise that it has been applied unless you keep a record of the exchange rate for when you make the booking. I had a hotel rate of 1.02 euros to GB£ applied when the market rate was 1.10 euros to the GB£. We did not stay at the hotel because of Covid-19 increase but when we booked it and realised we had been conned the hotel refused our request to cancel and refund.…
Probably the most important reason you are checking the reviews of this hotel is its location. If you're staying in the city the location is indeed convenient. The price of the hotel is okay as well. The staff is very nice; they are doing their best to make sure you have a good time. The rooms are somewhat small but that's what you would expect for a hotel in the city centre. The rooms are a bit old, but very clean. The climate control installed in the rooms is great. Overall we have had a good experience and we would probably stay here again if we happen to be Namur again.
