Bed in Gent is a unique place. It's in a completely non-touristy part of town (not that Ghent is particularly a tourist-trap even in the centre) and Tom has created a relaxed, welcoming and, quite frankly, groovy, B&B which makes for a great place to stay. Tom is a complete star. You really feel as if you're being invited into...

We agree with all of the good things in the other reviews! Tom was a great host and full of helpful information. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean and lovely. The location is excellent and is a nice area to walk around in--day or night. The breakfasts were delicious as well, with something for everyone.

Tom, staying with you for a few days was just so wonderful. You serve a superb breakfast and what can we say about your mom's jams! They are wonderful. We enjoyed our conversations, the room was wonderful, your B & B location is so central and within walking distance of the Dampoor train station. You were just so helpful in...

i second everything the reviewer before me said. tom is a great person...his home became our home...ghent was the most amazing place and to be able to go back at the end of the day to a place like home and a host like tom is the greatest feeling. basically the risk is that no place will live up to...

We stayed at Bed in Gent almost a year ago now, and our memories are so fond that we have decided to write a review. We loved it. And we especially loved Tom. He was beyond helpful (we were on our bicycles coming in from near Antwerp and he rode out to meet us and personally escort us to the...

What you've read is true. All of it. I've stayed in a number of places in Belgium, and 6--count 'em--6-- in Gent alone, and I'm going to tell the others to avert their eyes because what i'm about to say may hurt some feelings. This Gent's best. Ever. I could get all kinds of gushy about what a cool guy...

First of all I'd really like to thank Tom, the host of Bed in Gent for an amazing stay and very warm welcome. My girlfriend and I absolutely loved it! The place is very easy to find, Tom was very helpful with the parking which is very, and very cheap (3euros per 24 hours). Tom was waiting for us at...

Tom was the perfect host. He speaks good English and is very knowledgeable about Ghent and the surrounding area. The room we had was at the top of the house and had steep but manageable stairs. The room was spacious with a new bathroom and plenty of room to spread out. The continental breakfast was just right with a selection...

Tom's taste is spot on. Contemporary and retro in great combination. I loved being nudged toward music and radio rather than TV. The books provided are not left overs from previous guest but feel like carefully selected mini-library. You always meant to read Kafka, it is there waiting for you in the second floor room. The bed was huge, the...

Don't be put off by the exterior - many houses in Gent have 'character' from the outside. But once past the door your host, Tom, is there to welcome you in with a beaming smile and show you to your home in Gent. All the reviews before pretty much say it all: helpful, clean, friendly, stylish. Don't expect a TV...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A roomy guest-house, the bright south-oriented bathrooms and the shared dining room with a dash of modern retro - really, do not skip breakfast in that dining room. Also a friendly neighborhood, very much alive (without the rush). A fashionable quarter, if you like, with the marina nearby. It takes a five-minute walk to the railway station. Only ten minutes to my favorite coffee shop or the library. ... more   less
