We stayed three days at Big Sleep in May. The place is very close to the train station (Dampoort) which makes travelling less complicated. Once you enter the house you are welcomed by Michaela like a long lost relative. We wanted to see Ghent and Bruges in a relatively short time and Michaela was a valuable source of information. There... More

We spent three days at the Big Sleep last month. First, about the place. We stepped off the train and within a couple of minutes walking we were at the Big Sleep. The house is a heritage home facing a canal. The decore in the rooms can best be described as eclectic or maybe bohemian, reflecting the tastes and travels... More

You will feel very much at home in BIG Sleep. We had rooms here for the second time and will certainly go back. It is close to the bus, train station and the city - you can just walk where you need. Nearby is a big parking place just 500 meters away if you bring a car.

Fantastic cosy place, patience and good humour! We had all what we needed and very good breakfast. Good for holiday as well as business. Near centrum close to canal and transport. Family house with a lot of cultural tradition. Rooms with charm and spirit.

We have stayed at Big Sleep over the period between X-mass and New Year and had fabulous time. The B&B is in great location, near to the old market (walking distance) and is very close to the station if one wants to travel by train to Antwerp or Brugge. We were lucky as first night we were alone thus Michaela... More

We stayed at the Big Sleep for two nights and wish it had been more. We were in Belgium to experience Belgian food - and turns out that Michaela has great expertise in that area, as she is a food writer. What a gift! Her breakfasts were fabulous - homemade jams, Belgian spread, saussicon (sp?) good baked items, eggs as... More

The place is comfortable, and the landlady is friendly and very helpful, and the location is excellent. We came by car, and you can park outside, and you can leave your car there for 3 euros per day - not bad for a city location. Breakfast is great - just like in the Pain Quotidien. Just book this place, and... More

Great rooms, lovely breakfast and the beds are perfect! The building is a beautiful old house close to the center of Ghent. Michaela is very friendly and makes you feel at home in Ghent. She adviced us some restaurants, only you have to make sure to make your reservations early (that counts for every restaurant in Ghent for the saturdays)... More

Loved this B&B. had a large room and large breakfast. Location is great, just outside of the busy loud area of the town but easily walking to and from. Could not have asked for a better time in Ghent.

My husband and I decided to head to Ghent without reservations and Michaela was kind to give us a room even though she had not planned to be open the week we were coming through. Our stay in Ghent and at the Big Sleep was a memorable part of our trip. To begin with, if you want to stay at... More

“If you are a light sleeper and like a quieter room, ask Michaela for the one facing the back of the house, if possible. The front rooms were on a well traveled route that was quite noisy in the morning.”
