I have stayed in many family owned hotels around the world and I must admit even due to the current COVID-19 conditions they have still managed to maintain not only a great hotel but make your stay comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. Let me start from checkin - I pre-booked everything online and on checkin I was greeted with a friendly and welcoming staff member. He then went to explain about the surroundings and what places are open/closed and how to book it. He then gave us a choice of 2 available rooms for us to choose from. He also informed about the in room dining availability and that if we preferred from Deliveroo or any Takeout all I had to inform to the rider was to deliver it to the receptionist. The room was very cosy and comfortable- had all the in room amnesties. Very quiet and felt very relaxed. In summary the stay was splendid and hotel was excellent. The staff deserves the full credit and all the 10 Stars. Keep up the great work! …
This is a classy and classic hotel. Incredibly tasteful with a very nice room. Easy walk to anything you would want to see in Bruges. The staff is excellent, as well. Also, a sweet courtyard and easy to catch a cab to the train station. Not only my favorite hotels in Bruges, but one of my favorites anywhere.
We stayed here December 27, 2020. This hotel is so quaint and beautiful. We loved our stay here. The family that runs it makes sure to take care of you from start to finish. We opted for the Jr. Suite on the top floor and had a meal from the a la carte menu in the suite. They do offer a full prefix menu (until January 31 I believe) but due to dietary needs, we opted to pick from the snack menu. We enjoyed a croque monsieur and the elk stew. Also a very well prepared cheese plate. So many tasty cheeses! We added in our own Champagne and wine that were given to us a few days earlier as Christmas gifts. It was all very wonderful. The hotel provided a wine key and champagne flutes. Adding the room-service to the stay made It feel like we were eating out, instead of in our hotel room. The room was quite large and very well appointed. There is free wi-fi, tv and espresso maker. The very large clawfoot tub was big enough for two - yes, we tried it out! There is a rain-shower as well and a double sink vanity. We loved the exposed beams in the room and the view of the nearby towers. The location is perfect to walk around the city. Another plus is the on-site parking lot. The entryway is right next to the front door of the hotel. It’s a very tight archway, so be warned or you’ll miss it! The cost is a bit high for outdoor lot parking, but having the car on-site was great for bringing in the luggage. On our final day we had the breakfast brought up to the room - again they did a fantastic job with it. As an American I do question the European breakfast model. Not that it wasn’t delicious but there seems to be a lot of food waste with this model. So many breads and spreads and meats - it would be impossible to eat all of it. We tried! It was the perfect send off for our time in Bruges. Overall this is a very high 4 star hotel. It would be 5 if there were options like a spa, swimming pool, gym, etc. But given it’s boutique size, there just isn’t room for amenities like these here. Extra kudos for their English speaking abilities and the property allowing our dog to stay with us as well. Next time in Bruges we will happily stay here again.…
We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at hotel de castillion , along with the fabulous location of the hotel ... the staff are outstanding , the attention and friendliness we received was second to none .. our room was lovely with an extremely comfy bed spacious shower unit and tea and coffee making facilities .. we had breakfast at the hotel and all I can say is amazing .. such assorted choice of fruit bowls , yogurt , warm bread rolls , orange juice eggs bacon , fresh smoked salmon selection of cheeses and meats all washed down with cava and any hot drink on request .. it was my birthday while we stayed at the hotel and the staff made the day extremely special by decorating by bed and leaving me a beautiful box of beginning chocolates 🥰🥰 this hotel was nothing short of perfect 👌🏽 …
This is THE perfect place for a honeymoon trip or romantic getaway. Central location, walking distance from city center and most touristic spots. Staff is extremely professional, and Nic, the manager, is always ready to help. Breakfast (Eur 25 per person) also recommended.
