In search of something different ?This "out of the usual" hotel is widely known for its traditional craftmanship and warm hospitality in a rural atmosphere.Though situated near the motorways and Kortrijk Xpo, it is comfortably close to Kortrijk, as well as Mouscron and TournaiAll rooms have modern amenities, decorated in a flemish style, and they offer an unseen complete equipment, unique for this price range. Both restaurant and bar, have a surprising range of homemade Flemish dishes and beers from the many local breweriesSince the 17th century, Troopeird has been a popular stopover in the region, for the travellers seeking a home, away from home.Already in the 17th century along the ancient road fromf Kortrijk to Tournai, there was the all known Inn "Auberge La Maison Rouge".The name (red House) was later translated (from french to flemish) into "Roode Huys", even later because of his function as mail relay to "The Red Horse". Early 20th century, the establishment was known as "The Chord". (de Koorde)The widely grown flax was in fact "turned" into ropes in the barns. At the reception of the Hotel is still the original wheel on which the ropes were twisted. In 1968 Troopeird opened as a restaurant and quickly became one of the most famous and acclaimed eateries in Kortrijk. However, the guests of the hotel, which opened in 1978, require a different type of restoration and the kitchen tends to focus more on healthy and some simpler meals. The hotel was built according to the most modern standards of safety and comfort, but with respect for tradition. The atmosphere suggests that this building is an old farmhouse and suggests the Flemish character throughout the premises. A unique collection of bobbin lace designed and worked by Lieve (the "hostess" of the house) witnesses her love for the old Flemish handcraft. Not only the different styles of lace, but also the secrets of production itself, are explained and demonstrated to intrested .Textiles and clothing have always formed the basis of the industrial past of the region.

We have spent several days here in two visits to the area. This small friendly hotel is run by a couple who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at ease. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a traditional feel. Some rooms have traditional bathrooms, one room

I stayed in January for one night. I arrived at the hotel cold after a long meeting in an unheated factory. The reception greeting I received was fantastic. Went up to my room which was clean and comfortable, only problem (and not just with this hotel) is that the bed was only
