Hotel Ofenhorn in Binn is old, but since 2008 renovated with a lot of taste and preserving the old decor. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, excellent breakfast buffet with among other things local cheeses and breads, nice bar with a great choice of local wines and brandies. The bedrooms very cozy and charming, very comfortable beds, modern functional bathrooms, with the...

This was our second time at the Ofenhorn but this time it was a bit unplanned. We were camping and it rained all night so the next morning we decided the second night would be spent in the hotel... we called up and were told there was space. We hiked over and were very well received and since our room...

Binn is a beautiful village of mostly original old timber houses with balconies covered in flowers. The hotel is the largest of these without being at all overbearing. Situated next to the river it has a quaint charm and retains many original features including wooden balconies, floors, and even proper wooden shutters on the windows. The family who run it...

Stayed here for 3 nights while exploring the Binn valley and would definitely recommend it. The staff were lovely, and the hotel itself is in a beautiful quiet location. We ate all our meals at the hotel - as vegetarians we were worried that we might be confined to bread and cheese for a few days, but the hotel restaurant...

We were only here one night on our drive home from Florence and loved that in the morning we were in city centre Italy in stifling heat and by 7pm in this lovely hotel in a beautiful village up in the mountains. We paid £130 for a double room on the second floor with ensuite, which was a very modern...

At the beginning and end of the hike, we were here, for meals and overnight. Authentic Swiss hotel that matches the surroundings well. The couple who run it are very nice and helpful, and the food is good. Getting the bill took more time than it should but everything was correct. Nice garden area for drinks as the day ends.

We spent two days in this refurbished hotel. Built in 1883, it is one of the icons in Alpine Hotel History. It was closed in 1980 and taken over by a fund. It was re-opened, after a serious renovation, in 2008. We had a room on the first floor, renovated in Belle Epoque style, with a wash table in the...

This is one of Switzerland's classic, historic hotels. Don't expect any frills, no TV in room, no minibar - very plain, very simple. The bed was good and the en suite was perfectly adequate. The food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. I didn't appreciate the waitress laughing at my attempt to speak German and I didn't...

The Hotel Ofenhorn was built in 1883 and is located in the Binn Valley, easily reachable by public transportation; there are buses every two hours from the Rhone valley villages of Fiesch or Lax up to Binn. The hotel and opens from a few days before Christmas to a few ones after the New Year and then again for 2-3...

I first came to Hotel Ofenhorn after an aborted attempt in August, 2006 at the Bortellicke, which was impassable due to snow. I'd walked nearly six hours and arrived at the Hotel Ofenhorn, almost empty at that period when the Swiss Germans are mostly finished with their vacations. It was a haven of comfort and cleanliness. I dragged my husband...

“Even in bad weather, go to whe neighbor villae called Fäld and visit the local restaurant (Bergkristall, fully renovated old house) and perhaps the exhibition of minerals. Good weather provided, and physical conditions allowing, visit Geisspfadsee.”
