In the amazing town of Marvao, Hotel El Rei Dom Manuel is the perfect spot to stay. Easy to reach if you are driving. You can park just in front. The check-in was fast and polite. The room was medium size, already warm and very clean. The bathroom is a bit small but with a nice shower. Great sleep, nice breakfast and fast and efficient checkout. We will come back

This gorgeous little hotel at Marvao is absolutely spotless. I swear you could eat off the floor. It is also completely charming and has the most adorable character. It’s a very tricky drive to the hotel, through the arch and down a narrow gauntlet. Took me a while to figure out the instructions from google maps. It’s the most enchanting town and well worth the trip. Highly, highly recommend this beautiful little hotel as well.

Nothing wrong about this hotel, but the rooms are not charming, our bed was rather not comfortable (probably the mattress are a bit old). Overall for the price we paid in other places in Portugal we got much better. Breakfast is also very average, it seems they try to go on the cheap option. It is a pity as the location is great. But overall we felt a bit depressed to stay in here. Not mentioning that some of the rooms have even not any view/decent light.

Response from Manuel G, Gerente geral at Hotel El Rei Dom Manuel
Responded Jul. 8, 2019
Good afternoon from Dom Manuel, You stay on na old medieval village it's a shame you want something futurista, it is not our point of view. As you can see we're very good rated (9.3 in 10), so.... Shame on you. The best rooms had a view of course, shame you want the cheapest one... Our breakfast is equal to a 5 stars hotel, shame you don't see that and you only consume coffee with milk and bread and butter... you have lots of choice on the buffett, also hot dishes... regards.

We came last night as a couple to check out the rooms. The man at the reception showed us 2 rooms. As my husband is quite big, we were hesitating between the room with double bed (but the bed looked a bit too narrow) without window/view and the room with twin beds and a view. We were chatting in French to decide which bed was the widest & most appropriate for us but it only lasted few mns... Then suddenly the man opened the entrance door and sent us out, bluntly. He just kicked us out, kind of. Just because we were not quick enough to make up our mind. Nice attitude really. Especially at 9pm. First time in my life!

É lamentável que quando se comenta não se fale a verdade !!! Na verdade quem decide os preços dos quartos no hotel é a administração e não os clientes A Gerência Manuel Gaio

Had a very good lunch here on two occasions. Good service and tasty regional food in the quiet spotlessly clean dining room. We had coffee in the little courtyard off the restaurant which was lovely. We will return again.
