Cerro Mar Garden is celebrated for its inviting ambiance, which is enhanced by live music and a convivial atmosphere in the social areas. Many guests commend the hotel's cleanliness and are particularly impressed by the meticulous maintenance of rooms and facilities. While the spaciousness and amenities of the rooms are acknowledged, a few guests suggest they could benefit from a refresh. The hotel's location offers easy access to the old town, albeit with a steep return walk. Opinions on service vary, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with some reports of less attentive service. Despite mixed views on the hotel's value, due to the cost of drinks and debates over its star rating, the complimentary spa access and affordable local transportation options are appreciated perks.

I have zero complaints which is unusual for me!

The weather was lovely for Dec/Jan, flip flops & sunglasses in the day and cardi or light jacket at night.

We stayed in one bed apartment 506 the apartment was spotless, it was a great layout with everything you need Even a dishwasher!

The views from this apartment are breathtaking it looks out over the old town and the sea. As we stayed new years eve it was perfect to watch the fireworks at sea from our balcony. The hotel itself is lovely. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast plentiful. There are Steps at the end of the road which take you into the old town, I would recommend getting a taxi back up the hill cost is approx €3.50.
Would 100% recommend this hotel. we will be back

We travelled as 2 grand parents, daughter and 2 grandchildren. Our apartment in the main building was perfect - very specious and well equipped. We hadn’t anticipated an en-suite bathroom as well as the main bathroom. The kitchen had a washing machine, large fridge and freezer and dishwasher, no microwave but it came with hob and cooker. There were ample cooking utensils, crockery etc, but nothing plastic for the children. The living area was spacious and there was an additional table and chairs on the balcony.
Bedroom storage was OK but a few hooks or shelves in the bathrooms would have been helpful. The aircon was good.
Being at the top of the old town there is a fantastic view of the sea. It doesn’t take long at all to walk to the beach. There’s an Aldi within 10 minutes walk (it can be accessed from the back of the store). We found a route down to town which we could manage with a buggy - turn right out of the hotel, then right again and the road goes steeply down hill to the left, coming out by Harry’s Bar in the square. It was too steep to return so we used to get a minibus taxi for 5 euros from Piccadilly Bar, Reception will give you the number.
The kids loved the hotel pools. Inflatable toys can be purchased at the shop across the road. There was no entertainment but that suited us.
The buffet breakfast and buffet evening meal were both excellent. Temperatures were taken and you had to wear gloves and a mask to get food. In our second week there weren’t enough guests to warrant the evening buffet so we were offered a la carte.
The staff were fantastic, very friendly and great with the kids.
We thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from Cerro Mar Atlantico hotel after 2 weeks. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was ample size for 2 adults, the apartment was immaculate, its not modern as such but its typically what you get and expect in Portugal/Spain etc. We had fresh towels each day and the apartment was cleaned every day.

The facilities were great, the pool areas are immaculate and there was never any issues getting a sunbed, this could be the time of year or COVID but even if we turned up after lunch we got sunbeds. During our stay there was someone going around disinfecting the sunbeds during the day and there is hand sanitisers all over the hotel, you have to wear a mask inside the hotel which is standard anywhere.

We were SC but we did eat at the pool bar a few times, really nice food and not expensive, the staff were very friendly, we were greeted with a hola every day. Not sure who the other people were dealing with in the reviews below but we certainly never experienced any of the staff being rude or unhelpful.

There is a little supermarket outside the hotel, there is very little in it to be honest, you can get water/beer/wine and there's crisps, pizzas and some tinned stuff but not really much else however, Aldi and Lidl are a short walk behind the hotel.

The Hotel is a 7/10 min walk to Albufeira old town down some steps (97 of them). There is a shuttle bus that will take you to the old town although we never used it, you get used to the steps :-)

All in all we had a great time at the hotel and wouldnt hesitate to book there again.

We’ve just got back after a week at the Cerro Mar Garden hotel. The hotel is nice and clean. The location is good, just 10 mins walk from the old town but as other reviews have said, there are some steep steps down to the old town. Going down isn’t too bad but going back up is tough. After a week, we’ve got calves like Jack Grealish. I think its 4 euros for a taxi, which would be essential for older guests/guests with mobility problems.

Our appartment was overlooking the pool and had a partial sea view. The bedroom was a good size. The main room/kitchen was very large and the kitchen had all the appliances including a washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, etc. Thankfully, the air-conditioning was really good.

We were staying half board. Breakfast was good with plenty of selection. The evening meal was generally good but on occasions some items on the buffet weren’t very hot. I guess it depends how busy they are and how often the dishes are topped up. Normally there are around 6 different main dishes available plus grilled fish or meat. There is a large salad bar, soup, starters, breads, deserts etc - so quite a good selection.

The hotel has 4 pools which are all very nice but it is very difficult to get a sun lounger unless you get up at the crack of dawn. Although the hotel has signs up saying that sun loungers can’t be reserved, everyone does it. By 8am most loungers have towels on them and the annoying part is that many of them are not occupied until lunch time. There are grassy areas where you can lie on your towels and wait for someone to leave.

Bar snacks are nice and reasonably priced as are the drinks. Bars are quiet in the evening as most people go into the old town.

Staff are very friendly.

Hotel would be perfect if they could sort out the sun lounger situation.

Not a chance of a four star, the lobby and rooms probably are a four star but overall it’s nowhere near!

The staff (other than the pool bar staff) are miserable as sin! Especially the check in staff, I’ve never seen such a bunch of miserable check in staff!

The rooms are very spacious and if you’re lucky you can get a great view of albufeira old town and the sea.

The pool is good, amount of sun loungers are a joke! Absolutely no reason they can’t purchase more, they have plenty of space on the grass, nothing to do with Covid either, people are placing towels at 6am onwards, don’t do that, you don’t get one!

The plus side is a manager comes round around 10 and if you’re not on your sun lounger he picks up your towels and takes them to reception, you’ve lost your bed and rightly so, however this does lead to confrontation as the people that take the new freely released beds get confronted by the people that originally had them, this is amusing, however a leaflet should be added on check-in explaining this.

The cleaning team is awful, a quick skim over the room and extremely tight with toilet roll, twice I had to go to reception for a top up!
We don’t have room in our suitcases to take it home!!!!

The buffet breakfast is good value at 9 euros, no idea about any of the other meals as we like to eat out to help the local bars and restaurants.

Location is on a very steep hill so it’s not ideal for elderly people that like walking.

All in all, it’s ok, could be much better with better management, but even then it would only be a 3 star, just for disclosure, we didn’t book this place, TUI moved us here two days before departure!

Couldn't fault this hotel what's so ever.
Great location but still need to climb up 100 steps every time you return from the town.
We arrived about 11 o'clock and was told our room wasn't ready and to return at 1 o'clock.
We returned to reception at at about 1.30 and was told it wouldn't be ready until 3.
We had a little moan and all of a sudden both rooms were now available.
We booked two rooms one with sea view and one without but we both ended uphaving sea views on level 5.
Rooms were both very nice and very clean ( maybe slightly dated) had a full kitchen and dining area and a lounge which we didn't use . TV in lounge but couldn't get any English speaking channels although my daughter could get Sky News channel.
All the hotel areas were kept very clean and pleasant.
Sun beds were reserved by guest but not at a ridiculous time and when ever we came back from a walk we could always find two beds even if it was in their sister hotels across the road.
We had breakfast on our first morning ( €9.50 each )and was all very nice
The great thing about this hotel we thought was the prices of food and drink, they were so reasonable and as cheap as eating in town ( beer €2.50 ) good quality bar food .
Need to update the safes though, when you pay the extra for a safe your given a barrel and key and every time you want to open the safe you have to remove the barrel. It's about time they updated to digital safes.
Brilliant hotel, brilliant location and brilliant staff , congratulations to you all

It was our 1st time to Portugal and WOW what a place. From the time we got dropped off to leaving, all the staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the views from the apartment balcony was breathtaking. No better way to spend Christmas in the sun.
Apartment was cleaned daily with a change of towels daily. (Even on Christmas Day)
Aldi & Lidl are a 10 minute walk away or €5 taxi ride.
The hotel have a shuttle that runs in to the town as the less able may struggle with the steps. There are slot of them.
Would highly recommend.

This is our 4th visit to this hotel, the last time being 6 years ago and we understand there has been a change in management since then.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and that’s the reason we returned.

The rooms now desperately need updating, they are dark, outdated with awful lighting but they are very spacious. The shower has a curtain over the bath and the shower head flies off of the holder saturating the entire bathroom.

Apart from one guy on reception who we remember from previous stays the staff are generally pretty rude and inattentive. At breakfast they don’t quickly clear and lay tables so guests are doing it themselves, one morning both juice machines were out of order, a staff member just removed the strewn glasses where guests had tried to get juice.

Plenty of sunbeds for the guests in October although there used to be many more than there are now so I can see why people have complained of this.

Only ever one receptionist, on our last night we were going to ask on our way out to dinner about early breakfast but there was a little queue so we decided to do it on our return. Returned at 8pm and were told we can’t have breakfast, we’d have had to request it prior to 6.30pm so ‘will get nothing’ despite paying for breakfast.

There’s cheap laminated signs everywhere saying you cannot book sun beds / cannot play in this area - all very unwelcoming - I would rate this hotel as a 3 star now and will not be returning

Stayed in the apartments at Cerro Mar. Apartments are gorgeous and spacious. The location is fantastic, with a great view & quick access to the old town. Very happy with a lot of things here, especially as the price is so good.

However, as mentioned by others, the pool situation is an issue. Don’t stay here if you plan on using the pool facilities during your holiday as you will battle sun lounger problems daily. Personally, I couldn’t put a towel down & then come & go for the day. In my view it’s extremely unfair for visitors to pop out for lunch for 2 / 3+ hours & leave towels on loungers for the duration, depriving other pool users of the opportunity to bathe. Yes, this happens in many hotels around the globe, but the more professional hotels, who are interested in offering great customer experience to all, have procedures in place to manage this. I’m currently sitting at the pool and there are almost 20 loungers with towels on them, not a sinner in the pool. Fine if there were an adequate amount of loungers but the hotels offering is quite limited in this regard anyway. It would impact my decision to recommend or stay at the Cerro Mar property again.

We stayed in cerro Mar Gardens 2 adults and 2 young kids for 2 weeks on the top floor and had an amazing view of the pool and beach.

Whole apartment was spotless, kitchen well equipped for self catering with big fridge, freezer and washing machine. Set to setting 'C' for a standard 60min wash.

Great location if you don't have mobility issues, to the square is down quite a few steps but this never really bothered us, you can hop in a taxi back for 3.50euro from outside the picadilly bar in the square.

You can use all pools in the cerro mar accommodations, we used the one in cerro mar Colina often as it was quieter and it had a swim to bar :)

Small shop across the road for water, snacks, ice poles etc

Lidl and aldi about 7mins walk away.

Evening food in the restaurant was great, buffet was good but food to order was amazing.

(Didn't try the breakfast here)

Would absolutely stay here again,no entertainment but this also suited us as by the evening our kids are sleeping.

Thank you for an amazing stay cerro mar.
