I went with mercury holidays to this hotel as a single traveller for the first time. There were only 6 british people there, everyone else were different nationalities. The "regular" entertainment was only 3 times a week and all the swimming pools were cordoned off with no water in them. The transfer dropped me outside the hotel on arrival but on departure I had to go to the end of the road, BUT NOBODY TOLD ME THIS, nor was it on the departure list times in the foyer. I had to get a taxi to the airport pad for by myself as Mercury had a couldn't care less attitude. I have tried to get this fare refunded, but mercury refuse to give me this. I will never travel with mercury again.…
My partner and I returned from this hotel on 22nd May 2019 after a 14 day holiday. This is only the second time I have complained about a hotel and we have had several holidays in various places abroad. We booked this holiday with Mercury, this is the first time we have used them and the first time we have been to Portugal. We would certainly go to Portugal again but it is very unlikely that we would book with Mercury again as the hotel only catered for mainly Portuguese and French with a small amount of English which we feel should have been stated in their brochure as this hotel certainly does not cater for its English guests. The entertainment is all in Portuguese and the French have their own entertainment in a separate room and no one else can attend. Now to the food, we booked half-board at this hotel and the food was so bad we found ourselves having to eat most of time. The food was barely warm most of the time and the breakfast was the same every day and again not hot. The choices were very limited unless you didn’t mind living on salad but there again there was no cold meat to go with it. The majority of the time the food looked very unappetising and dried up. Going back to the entertainment the only time it would have been worth watching was the local dance group which portrayed their local country dance routines with a narrator telling the story but again it was in Portuguese and would have been good if their was an English translation so you could understand what it was about. All in all most disappointed with our holiday at this hotel. We would visit this area again as it was very pleasant and the old town had plenty of variety as regards food and entertainment.…
We stayed one night in the Inatel Albubeira after arriving at 2.30am. Room a little dated but clean. View was awful. Seaguls nesting on the roof. I had previously emailed the hotel to ask for upgraded room with sea view which they replied back that you pay when get there 10 Euros per night. We where not offered the Beachview rooms cost. We looked at these nxt day & no different layout in room for sea view one ,but you got a nice view of pool & sea view in the background. We asked to have a look at the Beach view rooms, which these are in the Inatel Albufeira Praia over the road from this hotel. The receptionist said these are expensive so she really wasnt trying to sell the Beach view room at all, but I asked to look (the Beach view ones are 26 euros per night extra), which where well worth the money. Even though she did not think we would pay this. Far better rooms.A lot more modern & fab full beach views. You can also have breakfast in here, which we where only B&B anyway, but not evening meal. I heard they not very nice meals on the evening anyway. Very nice meals minutes away in the square with a good choice of restaurants. Only down side lots of flies around inside windows & hotel not trying to control this. You have a curtain to stop them getting in your room. This hotel has carpets in corridoors so much quieter. Other hotel over road was really bad with people walking n pulling cases etc with no carpet. Breakfast was sufficient. In a great location for the esculators in the town & train if you want to go into new town too. The pool is nice & plenty of beds. We booked a Double room ,but all the beds are twin so dont expect a double. It would not let me pre book Beach rooms. I heard they mailny for Portugese , so recommend to upgrade to Beach view room in the Inatel Albuferia Praia hotel.…
Pros: on the beach, nice pool area, near to good restaurants, rooms with unobstructed sea view Cons: bathroom a bit dated, bad breakfast (the hot beverages are unacceptable, the rest of the food is ok), cleaning could be better (bring your own soap bar, as you only get one for the show). Also mind the fact that it's a strictly forbidden to flex your muscled bear torso, while in transit in the hotel.…
We had our first family holiday here, the hotel is lovely, a nice hideaway from the bars which were only about a 5-10 minute walk away. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they always made a fuss of my 6 month old daughter. The only downside for me (which is why I only have given 4 out of 5) is that there was no kettle in the room and no option to hire one, we had to go out and buy a travel kettle so we could make up my daughters bottles. It is very clean, our room was cleaned everyday. We spent a few afternoons by the pool and there were always places to sit. Very close to the beach. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. …
