Just spent a week here, lovely spacious clean apartment on the ground floor. We were lucky to have the pool area to ourselves most days. Friendly owners. Couple of nice cafes/bars within walking distance, Gale beach about a 20 minute walk.
We stayed here for six nights (19-25th February) to use as a base for us to follow the Volta ao Algarve cycle race. Checking in at 8pm-ish was done easily enough by phoning the friendly Manager who arrived within five minutes of our call to take us to our apartment and show us around. Unfortunately the apartment was cold for the first night as the heating hadn't had time to heat up the rooms, but extra blankets were provided and it was fine for the following five nights (it was February after all). The apartment itself was spacious and clean, though with it being out of season I'd guess that some things we noticed would be fixed/sorted before the summer (eg. the shower head fixture was broken), but to be honest, they were minor points. As others have said, some of the furniture and appliances appeared tired and in need of replacement, but they were serviceable. There were a couple of things we didn't like however: firstly the bath was very difficult to get out of, being an odd shape and restricted by the sliding shower screens, and secondly, the WiFi was very poor in our apartment. These points aside, we'd definitely stay at Solar Veiguinha again as it was a comfortable, peaceful place to stay that provided great value for money.…

We booked this apartment for a holiday with my family just over two months before our arrival date. We communicated several times with the owner to arrange a cot for our baby and to confirm our arrival time. We arrived at 9.30pm (as confirmed) to find the apartment deserted. We contacted the owner via telephone who informed us that he was in hospital and did NOT have a room for us. He advised us to contact booking.com who would find us another place to stay. Five minutes after the owner informed us that he was in hospital, he arrived at the apartment?!? He confirmed that he didn’t have an apartment for us to stay in although he couldn’t give a reason why (we had confirmed our arrival with him and he was aware that we were travelling with a baby). The owner informed us that his friend had a villa that we could stay in. We followed him via taxi to the “villa”, only to find that it was the top floor of his friends house. The room he offered us didn’t have a pool, wasn’t anywhere near restaurants etc and didn’t have a cot for our Son to stay in. We asked the owner if we could pay for one night and we would find alternative accommodation for the remainder of our holiday. The owner refused to let us stay for just one night and told us we would need to pay for a full week in his friends house or stay on the street. This man willingly let us arrive in a foreign country at nighttime with a baby, knowing that we would have nowhere to stay. DO NOT BOOK THIS APARTMENT.…
