W Algarve has garnered high marks for its cleanliness, with many guests commending the spotless condition of both rooms and public areas. Its prime location also stands out, providing guests with easy access to local sights and picturesque views. The spacious and well-appointed rooms draw praise, though some accessibility issues have been noted.
Exceptional service is a hallmark here, with staff earning accolades for their friendliness and professionalism, despite a few isolated less-than-perfect encounters. The hotel's stylish atmosphere adds to its charm, even if some guests find the music selection repetitive and loud. While amenities like the luxurious pool and modern facilities are celebrated, the value proposition is questioned by guests who feel the cost of food, drinks, and events is high compared to the quality offered.

We had a lovely stay at the W Algarve. The staff were great and really made the hotel feel special. I would like to give a shout out to the staff who provided excellent customer service and went above and beyond for my family and I: Fathima H (restaurant), Henrique (reception), Tindra (reception), Fatima (reception), Frost (attendant/bellman), Anna (pool), Emily (pool).
We stayed in the Wonderful King Room which had a great view of the pool. As there were 3 of us which consisted of myself, my Mom and elderly grandmother, we had requested an additional bed. The décor was lovely, and the room was spacious. The hotel décor overall is stunning, and Henrique explained the meaning behind the pieces and how it links to Portugal.
We booked on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast was nice with a variety of hot and cold choices. We did purchase lunch a few times on our pool days which was nice but a little overpriced, but we paid for the convenience of eating poolside. Guests are required to make reservations for the evening meals which was slightly restrictive at times but understandable as the menu is a la carte. We didn’t enjoy the food at Paper Moon, however the food at the Market Kitchen was good with large portions.
The entertainment is very limited – no specific daytime entertainment other than a DJ playing music on Wednesdays and some background music on the other days. They also have a live singer perform 2 nights a week. It would have been nice to have had more entertainment, but this didn’t bother us that much. There are nearby bars and clubs if you are seeking nighttime entertainment. We always managed to find a pool lounger albeit further back on the grass however it was trickier to find one in the afternoon. The staff were always willing to find you a spot and take up towels off the loungers that had been unoccupied for a long period of time.
We booked a private transfer which took around 40 minutes from the airport. The hotel isn’t that far from the Old Town (around 15-20mins in a taxi), and close to some lovely restaurants.
When we booked our stay, I emailed the hotel to ask if they had a wheelchair we could use, to which they said no but sent me the name of a company we could rent from. Around 2 weeks prior to arriving I asked the hotel if they were able to pay the wheelchair company when they delivered the chair and charge this to our room. After a few times of chasing, I was told the day before arrival that they couldn’t do this and that they had a wheelchair that we could use during our stay. This was annoying as I had originally been told that they didn’t have a wheelchair and so had rented another one unnecessarily. However, their wheelchair was comfier than the one we hired so we did end up using theirs. P.S for any wheelchair users staying at this hotel, just be mindful that the roads are quite cobbly.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would stay here again if we visit Albufeira.

Dear KanishaMW, Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of your stay at W Algarve. We’re delighted to hear that you had a lovely experience and that our staff contributed to making your stay special. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed the spacious and beautifully decorated Wonderful King Room with its great pool view. We're glad the team was able to accommodate your request for an additional bed, ensuring a comfortable stay for you, your mom, and your grandmother. We’re happy to know that you found the hotel’s design and décor captivating, and that the explanations provided by our reception team added to your appreciation of the property. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your meals, especially at the Market Kitchen, and that you found the poolside dining convenient, even if a bit pricey. Your feedback regarding the entertainment is appreciated, and we understand how more variety could have enhanced your experience. We’re also sorry to hear about the initial confusion with the wheelchair arrangement but are glad that the one we provided ultimately suited your needs better. It’s wonderful to know that, despite the minor issues, you had a positive overall experience and that you would consider staying with us again on a future visit to Albufeira. We look forward to welcoming you back and making your next stay even more memorable. Best regards, Christian Humbert General Manager

Before I start, ignore any comments regarding overly enthusiastic staff, unless of course you have emerged from underneath a miserable cold rock. Staff- and that literally was everyone we encountered- were just very nice and always helpful. The hotel is new, the rooms are great and the bed is huge. A very well designed hotel. The breakfast is worth every penny. The absolute BEST guacamole this side of Mexico, thank you Joana Rolo for your culinary genius. Detractors: Housemaids/room cleaners need improving. They do the bare minimum and sometimes don’t attend at all. Had to ask whatever whenever team to have someone clean our room. Sort this problem out. Granted the pool was undergoing construction, but it’s March and no one wants to freeze in the pool anyway so who cares.
Avoid going to nearby albufeira unless you like Chavs on tour and you’ll be fine exploring nearby beaches/restaurants.
Overall though, great first trip to Portugal largely/possibly entirely down to the W.

This hotel was truly flawless on our recent stay.I can't say enough about the beautiful design and attention to detail everywhere. We had a fantastic king room overlooking poll area with a large balcony equipped with a small sofa, table and chairs and brilliantly a drying rack for your swimwear. The bed was so comfortable w/ lighting and curtain controls next to the bed. There was also a sofa, table and a large wicker chair. The bathroom area had double sinks, a dressing table, makeup mirror, large shower w/ a handheld and a rain head. There was a separate doored toilet area w/ bidet. There was a separate very large storage and dressing area that had automatic lights as you walked in. This room was perfect!
The pool was two levels with a restaurant at the top that served great food and drinks. Pool attendants were so kind and helpful.
We ate at both Paper Moon and the Vino and both were exceptional in every way. Beautiful spaces with delicious food, views and incredible service.
Incredible service is what truly set this property apart. EVERY single person we encountered from the valets, front desk, concierge, wait staff, room attendants, bartenders. Every person was so friendly and so helpful. They could not have been kinder. Style. Service. Substance. This was a five star experience and we couldn't have been happier.

Went to the W Aura event with a few friends last night, and in comparison to other Algarve events, this by far was below standard, very pretentious and a complete farse. Staff are very disorganised. You had to show your ticket at least 3 times before entry to different members of staff. For an event priced at 20€ per ticket and given the size of the hotel, there is no parking on site. There are no cards or cash accepted so you have to spend at least 10minutes downloading an app and scan QR codes before you can purchase food or drinks. There was only 4 portacabin outside toilets, which were in poor condition and do not flush, is this really what you get for an event from a 4/5 star hotel? Everything is keep completely separate from the hotel which is ok, however make sure this is advertised stating that. No seating areas only 4 hanging chairs with no cushions making them painful to sit on, any other chairs are for VIP at a cost of 400€. Security walking around clueless and what makes it worse is the size of the event does not warrant so many security staff who see nothing. You cannot get a blanket when it is windy as that is for vips only. Staff walking and standing around like they are important when customers need service. Price of drinks are crazy. Myself, my friends and others do not mind paying the price set for drinks, but when the service and payment methods are poor, this is not acceptable.
The music was monotone, each DJ set was boring as all tracks were of the same tempo. The event organiser really needs to rethink their strategy as this event was poor quality in every way. I will certainly not be returning to future events. Any interest I had in staying at the hotel has gone. Looks great from the outside, very poor on the inside and totally disorganised. They were better off with one DJ as all the others apart from the last dj set, sounded the same. This event really does not represent Algarve. Based on the response given to other reviews, please do not bother replying to mine as this hotel takes no responsibility for anything. Poor management poor concept, poor event and poor organisation.

This new W hotel is a stunner; set on a rectangular sloping lot on the beach, every room faces West; not to the beach, but with views to the huge pool and the ocean. The Residences building is between the hotel and the view, but it’s set down the hill enough to not intrude too much. The moment we drove up to the entrance gate and the attendant took my name, he radioed it up to the entrance, so they greeted us by name there, and led us to a very friendly staffer at the front desk for checkin and walked us to our room. They offered to check into a boat tour, and later sent a letter to our room with the details. They provided personal recommendations for our next night’s stay in Sintra. The huge pool was deserted during our visit due to the cloudy weather. The artwork in the lobby is gorgeous. A short walk down a lushly landscaped path to the beach leads one to mostly rocky outcroppings and boisterous waves. The huge room had perfect amenities and a welcome snack and card. The lobby bar gave all the right vibes, and the included buffet breakfast was delightful. Wi-Fi was fast. I found nothing about my stay to fault, which is rare. Highly recommended.

WOW! Speechless. This really was the wedding of our dreams. Carolina was great, she worked well with our own wedding planner Ines from love and lace weddings. The two ladies worked with us to create a stunning wedding.
This wasn’t really a conventional wedding, being 2 females - however the hotel made us very welcome. The hotel is very LGBTQ friendly which we love!
I had big visions for the wedding and we did have some obstacles with signing things off with Marriott and their security team however, we got there in the end and we had dry daytime fireworks and giant balloons for the ceremony exit which visually looked amazing.
The hotel staff couldn’t have done enough for us, they were SO GOOD! From cleaning our rooms on request (you can imagine how messy the rooms got when getting wedding parties ready) to little treats and surprises in the rooms, the lovely greetings and help on arrival, offering water and drinks and the ‘whatever and whenever’ really is brilliant, you can ask almost anything and they are there doing it. That’s a 5 star hotel! The wine and drinks flowed nicely, there was never a limit like I have seen at weddings before with only set bottles for tables.
The day 2 BBQ food was beautiful and everyone loved it! Just the right mix of nice bbq food and when people are hungover, you need mac and cheese!
We added on drinks on arrival to the wedding which I thought was essential and again ran very nicely.
120 people had an amazing time! Almost everyone has said it’s the best wedding they’ve seen.
The hotel is visually so so beautiful. We have had constant compliments about our wedding and the setting etc.
We can’t be more thankful to the hotel and staff and especially Carolina who worked tirelessly over the 2 day wedding.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It is 5 star in every aspect. They pride themselves on their customer service and go out of their way to ensure your stay is top notch. The hotel is brand new and the rooms are all high end suites. Every feature of the room is activated with the touch of a button. The lobby, bars and restaurants are beautifully designed and maintained and the grounds are spectacular. The pool is beyond nice with comfortable loungers and couches and has an excellent restaurant. The Evaristo beach accessed from the property is charming and has the most amazing and well known restaurant. The Castelo beach is a 6 min walk and is magnificent. The Gale beach is a 15 minute walk and is the longest stretch of beach along the coast. The Sao Rafael beach is a 4 min car ride or 30 min walk. Everything you want in the Algarve is at your fingertips. I need to make one last mention that the staff is beyond helpful and nice and if anyone says otherwise it is likely that they themselves are the problem. I cannot recommend the W Algarve enough.

We spent 4 nights in August and 10. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are amazing. The pool is perfect for lounging in the sun and all the staff are very attentive, very attentive if you wanted to order something. The food of the hotel all very rich. As a paste I would say that the buffet seems somewhat expensive for what they offered (35€), I think it is more worth the breakfast a la carte. To go to the beach it is better to take the shuttle they offer or your own car, very close to the hotel there are some beautiful beaches. Hopefully repeat soon!

We recently travelled to Algarve with our 8 month old daughter for my wife's 30th birthday. The W Hotel was the perfect choice in our opinion for these reasons: • incredibly friendly staff • really clean and nicely decorated hotel • nice bar • very spacious room and balcony • free valet service • Apolonia supermarket 3 minutes away in car that has everything you need • attentive guest services staff that helped organise balloons for my wife's 30th • very easy drive from Faro airport (highway/motorway all the way and then a few small roads)
I'd like to give a special thank you Carolina and Elly who helped organise the balloons and donuts for my wife's 30th. Also all the valet staff were really friendly. The papermoon staff were fantastic and accomodating and the bar tender that worked on the day shift during our stay from feb 12th to feb 15th was really attentive and gave a great service.
I would recommend pre-booking the breakfast as it is much cheaper. We paid 70 euros for 2 of us on the days we visited but we did not eat much so this is the only tip I can offer to guests
Besides that, the hotel generally was fantastiv and quiet so february is a perfect time to go. We will be coming back thanks to all the staff

I had wanted to stay at the W, Algarve since I found out it was opening and it didn’t disappoint. This is a relatively new hotel and everything is in top condition!
Let me start with the rooms, they were amazing. Huge inside! Equipped with fabulous decor, a double sink, big beds, robes, slippers, toiletries, large terrace area over looking the pool, hair dryer, massive screen TV, sofa area and so much more. They added so many nice extra touches like sensors in the lights that turn on when you walk past and curtains that open at the touch of a button. We’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and this room rivalled the quality of those in Dubai.
The food and drink in the hotel was also very high quality. We ate at the pool bar and Market Kitchen whilst we were there and both were lovely. Id like to add that I am gluten free and there were plenty of options to choose from. The food and drink was also reasonably priced which was refreshing as a lot of 5 star hotels over charge and I felt the pricing here was fair. We had breakfast in with the room rate and it was fantastic, it was buffet style and they even made me fresh gluten free pancakes.
After dinner there was live music at the bar and seats outside where you could take in the stars and watch the colourful fountains.
The pool area was really nice. There was a DJ playing from midday which was a cool extra and it added atmosphere. The pool got the sun all day and there were plenty of loungers. There were also fresh towels provided when ever you needed them.
My ONLY criticism of the whole stay was that on the day we arrived there were some older kids running havoc in the pool. They were splashing people, hitting each other with inflatables, screaming and jumping between the two levels. Whilst I appreciate this is a hotel that accommodates kids, it is also a 5 star hotel and this does not reflect that atmosphere. Although there were staff stood around watching at the time, it wasn’t until multiple people complained / moved sun loungers that someone spoke to them and told them to stop. I think if this happens again in the future the staff should kindly ask the kids to tone it down before people get to the point of complaining. A more long term suggestion for the hotel would be an adults only pool or sunbathing area as I think this may be the only thing the hotel is missing.
That being said I wouldn’t want that one unfortunate incident to affect my over all rating of the hotel because we did have an excellent experience and will be back to stay next year.

There is only one very small beach within walking distance. It used to have a restaurant on it but that is no longer there.
I don't know about your other questions as we only stayed there for one night in November.

Assuming you are a Marriott member, have a look at Domes VILLAMOURA Hotel. We stayed at both, but W has very few restaurants open nearby off season. Domes has many within walking distance. W hotel is quite remote.
Small shop right next door with the basics. Main bars and restaurants only 15 minute Uber which are super cheap and very available. Some small restaurants and bars very close by.
Thanks
