The Rocamar Exclusive Hotel & Spa boasts a prime location that guests frequently commend, nestled close to both the beach and the old town. Cleanliness is a highlight, with travelers consistently praising the well-kept rooms and efficient staff. However, the rooms are often described as compact, with some visitors finding the bathroom layout inconvenient and the room amenities lacking. Mixed reviews emerge regarding service, ranging from friendly professionalism to instances of rudeness. While the hotel's serene atmosphere is generally appreciated, some guests consider it overpriced, especially given the additional fees for certain amenities and services.

Myself & my wife stayed in the Rocamar Hotel for a few nights in January. We paid for a sea view room which had an amazing view of the long sandy beach. The location of the hotel is excellent, a short walk to the old town & a comfortable longer walk to the marina.

You are paying for the view & location of the hotel rather than the quality as our room was a bit dated looking with dirty walls & old fashioned bedding. Also there wasn't much light in the room at night time (not ideal for women doing hair & makeup). On the plus side, it had a (small) fridge, a spacious bathroom, ample mirrors and a hairdryer.

There was plenty of choice at breakfast (hot & cold) and the staff were efficient. We didn't drink or eat at the hotel apart from breakfast so I can't comment on that.

Only a personal opinion but things I would suggest to the hotel management are; 1. An update of the rooms (paint & bedding), 2. Iron & ironing board facility either in the room or at reception (not expensive & such a big help to guests), 3. A new sausage at breakfast as the current one is not very good (it is more of a chorizo than a breakfast sausage), 4. More lights in the room to help guests doing hair & makeup etc.

Overall, I would reccomend the hotel if someone asked my opinion but a couple of small changes would make the guest experience so much better as the view & location are great.

This hotel is far away from being a 4 star hotel, I would say it is more likely to be 1 or 2 stars.
Let’s start with the check in, bureaucratic system in place, you have to feel some many declaration form before check in, this forms should have been prepared way ahead of our check in. The hotel will charge you €300 for deposit (€150 person). The reception area is not welcoming at all, very old and dated furniture. The receptionists are lovely, both ladies are helpful and very welcoming.
Moving to the bedroom, an absolutely joke! My room had a funny smell that I couldn’t workout what was it. The furnitures are so old that there was one of those old radios fitted in the bedside. The balcony furniture looks like they picked up a table and couple of chairs from one of the bars. Also if you are seating on the chair you won’t be able to see the sea as the chair is way too low, clearly they haven’t put any effort in making this more suitable to their guests.
The shower gel in the bedroom, they claimed to be Ritual, I am a big fan of Ritual and I have used almost all of their ranges, I can tell you that those toiletries are not from Ritual, I might be wrong, but I will definitely check that direct with Ritual.
Breakfast, LOL…a 4 Star hotel offering squash as orange juice to their guests. Very LOW quality of cheese and ham (and I mean very low). The buffet is the worse quality you can possibly expect apart of the eggs. The breads are not fresh and you can tell by the look of it. The staff are not cool, they don’t welcome you, they don’t say good morning, they are loud, far too unprofessional, have personal conversations in front of the guests and sometimes even arguing with each other. I disliked everything about the breakfast.
The poll are is cool, the bar staff is nice and polite. Their is so much that could do to improve around the poll area and to make it more warm and welcoming, first of all things clean those glasses around the poll, second have some relaxing music playing at the poll area and finally why on earth would you charge €30 deposit per towel to use on your poll? I DON’T GET IT! Again this was supposed to be a 4 stars hotel.
Also the food available in the poll and as room service is disgusting, we ordered 2 chicken burger from their menu and it was absolutely disgusting. The burger was one of those flat processed fake chicken instead of an actual chicken breast, the fries were from frozen pack, the bun was something from 4 days ago which was let to dry before they used. Once again the quality was absolutely gross.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely no. Would I recommend the hotel? Absolutely no.
I totally dislike everything about this “4 stars Hotel”. Don’t claim to be something that you are clearly far from being, you should claim to be 1 to maximum 2 stars.

We stayed at the hotel for one night at the end of our trip and it was a lovely way to finish it off. We had a sea/pool view and the views from both the balcony and pool were stunning. The rooms are your average newly refurbed hotel room, but had everything we needed, with the addition of a mini fridge and radio in the bathroom. The only thing is it’s still a hotel that makes you request at reception to use the safe, which I thought a bit odd for an ‘exclusive’ hotel. The only other negative was that the glass screens at the pool could have been cleaner so that the views seem uninterrupted but other than that, it was a great stay. The hotel has Covid measures in place, for example hand sanitising stations at the entrance/throughout and there’s the obligatory wearing of masks. This is also relevant during breakfast, as all of the hot food is served by the chef and the bread is provided when seated. The cold food is wrapped in cling film and replenished often.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rocamar. It is in the most perfect location directly opposite the beach and a short walk away from the old town but far enough out that it wasn’t loud and busy. The room was cleaned everyday and was nice and spacious, the drains in the bathroom just sometimes had a funny smell. Breakfast was nice and had plenty on offer. The pool was lovely but just quite small and it was rare to get a sun bed due to limited amounts but this isn’t really an issue being so close to the beach! Friendly staff. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but cocktails were great. There is a £200 deposit on arrival which we were unaware of but any drinks from bar were taken off this.

Due to a last minute cancellation to Greece and in need of a holiday we booked a 2 week holiday staying at the Rocamar on 3rd to 17th October which my wife and myself have visited for many years.
We realized due to Covid19 that there would be changes made and although it was not ideal i think the hotel set things up okay.
Hand sanitizing , social distancing, face masks etc were all in place.
Hotel was very quiet as was the resort to travel restrictions.
But never at any time did we feel unsafe.
We had a room with a balcony and sea view.
Rooms were cleaned daily.
Rooms had a small fridge and air con.
Room safes are available at a cost. £15 per week.
Breakfast was certainly a different experience but adequate if not repetitive.
We are booked to stay at the Rocamar again in April of next year as April this year was cancelled , Francisco kindly allowed us to change our dates forward.

THE BAD:

We booked a last minute trip to the algarve. Our main attraction to the hotel was the location, pool and Seaview. I had requested a Seaview room or any potential upgrade as my partner was having a large surgery the following week. This request was ignored and we were given a very basic room looking out into a ruin building. Throughout our stay, the staff were not overly friendly or welcoming. We had breakfast here each morning which wasn't great so we stuck to the scrambled eggs and in the end did not continue eating here as it was too repetitive.

It should be noted that although the swimming pool area is beautiful, there is roughly 10 sunbeds on the deck whereby there is only one area wheree the sun remains throughout the day. People appear to become agitated waiting for sunbeds to become free. We spent 2 days at the pool where we went down at 8am to get sunbeds. On the last day, myself and my partner wanted to go out for a bite to eat at lunch time. The bar man asked us how long we would be and we informed him that we were just popping out for a quick bite to eat and would be back (no longer than 45-50mins). The security guard then came over tapping his watch to us staying " you have 30 minutes". In shock, my partner and I agreed but as we rushed our lunch, we decided to return to the pool, get our stuff and head to the beach. We felt this moment really ruined our last day here and we are equally not responsible for the hotel not having enough sunbeds to cater for all guests. Additionally, no room numbers are taken as people arrive at the pool, therefore we had no idea if those at the pool were even guests at the hotel.

THE GOOD:

If location is your number 1 goal for the old town in albufeira, this hotel is your best bet. Additionally, the pool area is amazing if you plan on sitting there all day.

Laslty, on one occasion as we were getting ready to head out for dinner, we decided we would get a cocktail from the bar below, however we weree not allowed bring it up to the room. This was disappointing, however the barman was most friendly and extremely helpful and made a beautiful cocktail for us.

Just stayed at Rocamar for 5 nights, this was our second visit as we stayed several years ago. We had a sea view room, 514, which was a corner room with stunning views, really pleased with size of room which was immaculately clean and couldn't fault it, maid was very polite. The breakfast was a big let down, orange juice was a watered down squash, such a shame as oranges are readily available, 3 nets for €5, so such a shame there wasn't fresh orange juice. No croissants just bread and very large bread rolls, small amount of Madeira cake - some mornings if you were early enough. Replenishment of plates and some items of food very slow, someone should have been keeping a better eye on what was running out. On our final day we had a transfer for 5.45pm, so when enquiring about a shower room we were directed to the toilet at the pool side, this did have a shower but was very small, there were 2 very small towel hooks so nowhere to hang clothes whilst showering, we left our luggage outside the door whilst showering which was not ideal. Surely a 4 star hotel could provide a room to be able to freshen up, very disappointing. Overall a good stay but the hotel needs to up its game on the above observations.

Great hotel, location overlooking the beach , with either a lift to take you down or a short walk towards the town, down some steps and through a tunnel to the beach ( not advised if your elderly or have a disability ,use the lift) infinity pool quite small , and very limited sun beds and pool area
Rooms nice, no kettle tho, for a 4* hotel a must I feel.
Fridge included , but only one drawer !
Wardrobe is large enough though .
Evening meals are quite expensive compared to the many local restaurants
Breakfast, a mixture of continental and ‘ English’ but avoid the bacon and ‘sausages’
Bar area is nice with outside seating overlooking the beach
Beware you will need to pay a €100 deposit when booking in.
Staff are friendly .
Would I go again, yea probably

Stayed here for a short stay with friends. Hotel is situated in a lovely place right beside the beach. There is a lift to take you up and down to the beach which is great as there is a large drop to the beach. The rooms are small enough but have very comfy beds, balconies with sea view, and lifts are available to take you to your floor. Breakfast was included and was lovely. When you leave the hotel you turn left to go to old town which is just a short stroll with lots of bars and restaurants and shops _ and right to go to the marina.
Be aware that when you arrive they want a security deposit of 100 per person, I thought it was too much , that's 200 per room, however there was no problem getting it back on leaving.

On arrival the reception was lovley and looks the part. Very modern.
We had upgraded our room to sea view and we got an executive room which had ment we had our own sun loungers and that's where the good ends.
The bathroom was so shabby and small. We had nowhere to put our toiletries the shower was way too small toilet seat didn't fit. The floor was dirty the door strip had all kinds of things stuck in it.

The beds are so hard it's very hard to sleep and the pillows are just bits of stuffing that didn't fill the cover. Asked for new but the never arrived. No tea making facilities in the rooms.

The sun deck and pool area are very small and nowhere near enough sunbeds. The chairs and tables are broken.

The breakfasts are horrible we had gone B&B and only had 2 then ate out.
The cleaners would move the sunbeds back in front of the rooms even if you had just gone inside for a minute.
The location is fabulous but that is where it stops. Look for something more comfortable
