Hotel Paraíso de Albufeira garners mixed reactions, with its central location often celebrated for ease of access to local attractions. Despite this, some guests have expressed disappointment with hidden costs and overpriced amenities, diminishing the hotel's value proposition. The atmosphere and rooms have been described as tired and in need of an upgrade, although the family-friendly pool and on-site amenities are generally appreciated.
Service receives varied reviews, ranging from commendations of staff friendliness to frustrations with slow and inconsistent assistance. Additionally, noise disturbances have been a common concern among guests seeking rest.

The pool is the best feature. It is a good location to one side is the old town and the other the new all in walking distance The games room was never open, kids club kit every day and the gym is €8 euros per person. We were upgraded due to our room not being ready but the 3rd bedroom wasn’t inviting in fact creepy and my kid still decided to sleep on the sofa. Areas of the hotel dated and in need of maintenance, such as locks missing on toilet doors in the apartment and public areas, windows aren’t cleaned, tiles missing on bottom of the pool and cleaning. Cleaning very basic we had blood stained towels and stained bed sheets, only beds are made and towels tidied. We stayed 10 days and had fresh on day 5 My eldest is celiac and there was very limited options during meal times and no gluten free at the snack bar we had to keep buying food from spar The karaoke is good and some of the entertainers, but they have a repítele and parrot show twice a week and the lady carries a snake around the room to which I have a phobia and had to spend 2 evenings in reception entertainment starts around 9:30, all inclusive drinks end at 11 Staff were helpful and friendly

Good welcome even if we would have liked a reception who spoke a little more French. Room dirty when we arrived, the bathroom sink not clean the kitchen table with stains from the previous tenants. The cleaning ladies only make the beds and empty the trash, otherwise no cleaning. I was disgusted by the pool when I saw everything floating in the water. It is not cleaned and given the large number of people who bathe there it could be cleaned. The price of breakfast is incredible 12.50 or 50th for breakfast for 4. It is better to go to mainland a few meters away and eat a good breakfast for cheap. This establishment is not worth the money you pay. The doors are not cleaned there is dirt. This hotel is a bit filthy and we even preferred to leave one night early because the room made us no longer want to stay. We are told about stores but apart from the Spar, the buoy shop and the clothing store for a little special customers there isn't much. The children's playroom costs money so no one goes there and the indoor swimming pool requires a cap so no one goes there. The prices of drinks at the outside bar are exorbitant. 17th for 2 beers and 2 granitas. I won't come back.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Well I had booked a package holiday, then I read the reviews and my word I was so nervous reading the bad reviews.
When I got here, the reception area is so dark, we checked in and asked for a south poolside facing and the lady said no the poolside are only 1 bedrooms, i asked to pay for an upgrade and was told no they are fully booked, what in November 🤔
We were put in room 735 on the 7th floor which is carpark facing, she told us we do get sun on balcony late afternoon, still waiting for it now, we got in the lift which didn’t sound or feel safe at all and walking down the corridor was so creaky and dark.
We finally got to our room and it’s not as bad as people are making out, we have definitely stayed in a lot worse than this in the UK, says 4* definitely not I would barely put a 3*, the room was ok and clean and adequate, the beds could do with new mattress and definitely new pillows but I slept ok, and the air con was a big help.
It wasn’t until the next day my husband thought I had a midnight snack as he found loads of crisp and chocolate wrappers under my bed, obviously the cleaners missed there.
The balcony is quite big, the kitchen comes with fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave and oven, oh and very small cups, if like us you like a proper cup of tea I suggest bring mugs or buy a couple like we did.
The outside pool looked nice, we didn’t use it, there is a gym and indoor pool where caps must be worn even though we saw young lads in there with no caps on and because of the guys in there we never used it.
But to re cap, the rooms have dark furniture which could do with an update, apart from rubbish under the bed it is clean and spacious for a studio, all studios apparently are only facing the carpark main road side and the reception team didn’t seem interested when checking you in. I had a choice for the same price of this hotel or the Oura Praia, we chose here because we already stayed in the Oura Praia which I know is definitely a 4* and when I lived here for many years always wanted to stay in Parasio because it looked posh but posh it’s definitely not. Would I stay here again I would but only if it was cheaper because not worth the price we paid for it

My friends and I booked this hotel last minute. We had to wait over half an hour for our room to be ready (we got to the hotel at 9.30 and were supposed to check in at 2, making the most of the sun whilst waiting) and we’re told by the rudest reception staff that “there’s a lot of rooms to clean”. Once we got in to our room, although it was clean, we didn’t have enough towels, which we waited over six hours for and that was only because we were insistent that we needed them after a long day travelling, this seemed to be a theme, as every day, we had to ask for more towels as we were only given 2 with 3 people in a room. The pool area was disgusting, with mold and broken drains everywhere that could have caused injuries to children running around. You can’t take drinks from the onsite shop to the pool area or you’ll get asked to leave and spoken to quite rudely. They advertise that they have a shuttle to the beach but you get told quite abruptly that they don’t offer this and when you ask for information about the local area, it feels as if you are asking for a private tour guide. I have to say, the area is beautiful so we made the most of our time in Albufeira but the hotel is definitely not a 4*. It was a basic 2, with staff that need to go on courses to improve their customer service or to consider if working in tourism is the right job for them. The icing on the cake was, the day before we were leaving, a cleaner knocked on the door and handed me a piece of paper asking for money for cleaning the room. I said that I may leave a small tip on check out where she then asked me if I would hide it so her bosses wouldn’t see. I have never been asked to do this in any hotel. Especially after constantly asking for items to be replenished and not even cleaning the room on the day money was asked for. I think the hotel needs to have its 4* removed as this is complete false advertising for those who are spending quite a bit of money and expecting a hotel that is supposed to be on the top end of the scale.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet your expectations, and we apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your time with us. We understand the frustration caused by the delay during check-in, and while early arrivals can sometimes mean a wait due to high occupancy, we regret if our communication on this was not up to standard. We will address your comments regarding the reception team and ensure proper customer service training is in place, as this is certainly not the experience we aim to deliver. Regarding the towels, we apologize for the delay and any inconvenience caused by having to repeatedly request them. This is not the level of service we aspire to provide, and we will work to ensure that such oversights are avoided in the future. As for the pool area, we appreciate your feedback and take your concerns about safety seriously. We will review the condition of the facilities and make any necessary improvements to ensure a clean and safe environment for all our guests. We also apologize for any miscommunication about drinks in the pool area, as well as the shuttle service. It appears there was some confusion, and we will work to make sure our services are accurately communicated. Lastly, the experience you mentioned regarding the cleaner asking for a tip is completely unacceptable. We have very strict policies regarding conduct, and this does not align with our standards. Rest assured, this matter will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate actions will be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. We truly value your feedback and will be taking immediate steps to improve our services and facilities based on your comments. We hope that you might consider staying with us again so that we can provide you with the experience you deserve. Best regards, Susana Esteves CRM at MGE Hotels

Just back from a week at this hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean inc kitchen with all utensils pots fridge, toaster , microwave ect. The maids came everyday except the last day. They make the beds, change toilet paper and towels and take away the rubbish. I don’t understand why you are left with no towels or toilet paper on the last day🤔, bit stupid of them to let you down at the last minute. Spar on site is quite expensive. The food and drinks at the pool bar are a rip off. €8.50 for a mojito, €13 for a kids pizza which was rotten, the chips were cat. €14 for a waffle with sauce and ice cream😂. You are not allowed bring your own snacks and drinks to the pool, well you can but you have to hide them from the pool security man. No pool balls allowed in the pool, very strange, can’t see how they would be dangerous. Floaties are allowed. My kids enjoyed the diving boards, the pool in general was good if you are lucky enough to be down early to reserve a blue comfortable sunbed, otherwise you are stuck with the uncomfortable white ones which are further back from the pool. Only saw 1 cockroach the whole week. It landed on the balcony ledge and we flicked it off, no fault of the hotel. The mozzies were lethal if you’re sitting out on the balcony at night. Bring your spray. The entertainment at night was fine. The reception staff were very helpful. They have their own drivers, €8 to old town, €14 to the Marina, €63 to Airport, €40 return to splash and slide. Overall for the hotel room in was good value. If you are someone who enjoys silence go somewhere else. This hotel is lively and loud which didn’t bother us, when you close the balcony rooms at night I couldn’t hear anything from outside.

I have just returned from 4 nights here, with a group of friends, travelling for a wedding. Having read the reviews here, I wasn't expecting luxury, but nothing could prepare me for how bad it was.
On arrival, we were surprised by how tiny the room was. The kitchenette could be reached from one side of the bed and balcony door from the other side. Paintwork was chipping throughout the apartment. The curtains were beyond filthy, bath mat we wouldn't touch. One of our friends rooms had blood stains on the couch!
The reception was nice, but once we left that, the hallways, pool area, pool water were so dated that they will never be clean again. Around the pool the tiles were chipped and the water in the pool was not clean. We were surprised to learn that we had to pay extra for sunbeds (6.50 per day) and to order taxis from reception (50c per taxi).
The staff were extremely rude from the moment we arrived. We spoke with upwards of 5 receptionists during our stay, none were particularly polite or welcoming.
On our last day, we had 4 cartons of cigarettes taken from our room during cleaning. We brought this to the attention of the staff member on reception, who called the head cleaner, who said nothing was taken. They said they trusted their staff and got quite angry that we would suggest anything had been taken. We asked could we check the cleaners bins/ dumpsters, we were told no. We asked could they check with the cleaner who cleaned our room, who conveniently couldn't be found. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there wasn't one working that day. I left reception and returned a while later to find the guy I had been dealing with had changed his name badge, obviously knowing I would want it. Before leaving, I asked for a piece of paper to take some notes and names. The page I later discovered was a torn corner from another guests booking confirmation, including, all their contact details, a serious breech of GDPR.
I would never stay here again, and would not recommend, so many reasons, no matter what the price.

This hotel is a very good budget hotel. We stayed self catering, the apartment was really big. Twin beds in the main room, big wardrobes and chest of drawers. We put our beds together, comfortable mattress but quite firm. Not ideal if you have a bad back. Large living room with big double balcony. Two sofa’s turn in to single beds. Kitchen area with microwave, stove and oven. Fridge with freezer box. Big bathroom, toilet, shower over bath. The hotel is dated but very clean. Maids daily to change towels, soap, toilet roll, shower gel etc. staff were all very helpful and friendly. The pool is smaller than it looks but ample, you are very close to beautiful beaches. Shops surround the hotel to get groceries. Taxis are cheap to the old town and strip, don’t use tuktuk’s as they cost triple. Our air con was broken, they tried to fix it but couldn’t so they switched us to a new room. They have cutlery, plates, bowels, kettle etc. I brought salt and pepper sachets from home and a few odd bits.
We paid £350 for a week in October, 2 adults 1 child., I would have to dig deep to find problems. Location is perfect, couldn’t comment on food as didn’t use it. Hotel drinks were expensive compared to the local area. Indoor pool is more like a 8-10 metre dip pool. Gym is chargeable at €40 euros a week. Sun loungers are old and often cracked but a towel on top fixes the problem.
I hired a car from Faro airport and it took me about 35 minutes to drive to the hotel, free parking! If you’re looking for an all inclusive, top week away this isn’t the hotel for you. But if you’re looking for a cheap family holiday in a beautiful area then this is a great budget friendly hotel. Brilliant base and already looking to go back next year.

The Hotel itself is very big. And the rooms are spacious. However, they are outdated, rooms were quite dirty and the beds were uncomfortable. Fridges are very loud and kept us awake and most of the balcony doors were broken and didn't lock. A group of 10 of us went including children. The lifts took ages to come and the floors did not correspond with the lift buttons. Staff did not speak to us. Cleaners just stood outisde rooms early in the morning and were very loud. The pool side area is very big but the pool was the coldest pool we have ever been in. You could not get any sun loungers around the pool side and the other sun loungers were very uncomfortable and majority of them broken. There are better sunloungers at the back but you have to pay for them. Will say great for kids. The entertainment team was fantastic and interactive and took the time to speak with us. Josh on the entertainment team is from the UK and was very enthusiastic about his job, he interactive with the families and children. Games through out the day were good for adults and children and great entertainment in the evening. There is also a gym but you have to pay for it. The Spa shop was great to have in the hotel. Just seemed there was lots of added extras you had to pay for at the hotel. It just wasn't for us and we wouldn't stay again. Good location though.

We booked 7 nights, 2 person sharing , double room on a half board basis. We opted for a room upgrade at a cost of €185.00 as the initial room we received was very small and was situated overlooking a busy road which was very noisy. The second room we got, while the space was great the room itself was very dated and old fashioned. No double bed as requested, a twin room. Fixtures & fittings (e.g coffee table, light bulbs, locks on both doors) in the room were broken so we reported this to the hotel receptionist and she promptly sent a maintenance technician to resolve some of these issues. We never received a new/replacement table in our room as promised by said employee.
Housekeeping standards left a lot to be desired! Towels were replaced once during our 7 day period! Beds were supposed to be changed once weekly but this never occurred. The room was so dusty and while the staff did come into the room everyday the only obvious signs of any attempt was the beds were made daily.
The smell in the corridors and bedroom was awful no matter what time of day due to some guests cooking as the hotel offered self catering packages also.
The food throughout the week was overall very poor. The selection was minimal to say the least.
The outdoor sun loungers were cracked and felt like lying on a slab of concrete. Charging guests €7.50 to use a lounger on the grass right beside the pool is an absolute joke.
One employee who stood out to us for all the right reasons, was Fabio in the restaurant. He greeted each guest with a smile and offered a little chat about how everyone’s day was going. He was very attentive and very pleasant during all interactions.
If you are seeking luxury and a high standard of cleanliness then I would not recommend this hotel. For the high price we paid I was expecting a greater standard in all aspects of our stay.

Not a family resort .. I would urge anyone travelling with kids to avoid. Spent a week here and it is full of stags and hens .. feels like 18 - 30 and so LOUD , at night and around the pool. Music playing motherf**ker and N*gg*r full blast beside the baby pool which is tiny and attached to main pool. Also difficult to navigate with a buggy. On one day i had to ask a middle aged woman to stop shouting P*nis and or*asm over my 6 year old daughters head. Pool patrol staff come to check you haven't brought your own snacks and the bar is €5 for a beer and other food expensive €13 for a pizza. Also a cannabis shop onsite??
The noise at night from teenagers in the hotel was so bad.. while we have all been there, I chose this hotel as it was advertised as a family hotel and its not really when there is shouting, screaming, door slamming going on all night. Complained about the noise and was told to call reception. When I went to call them the phone was a dummy with no wire 🤣 have tried to make the most of it but really disappointed and looking forward to a full night's sleep.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the atmosphere and noise levels. We want to acknowledge that our hotel attracts a diverse range of guests throughout the year, including both families and younger groups. During school periods, the hotel may experience a higher volume of younger adults, which can sometimes impact the atmosphere. Unfortunately, we cannot always predict how individual guests will behave, and while we strive to ensure a pleasant environment for all, we understand that this may not always be possible. Regarding the issues you encountered: Noise Levels: We are aware that excessive noise can be disruptive, and we are continually working on improving our methods for managing noise and maintaining a respectful environment. Unfortunately, we cannot always control the behavior of every guest, but we are committed to addressing any concerns as promptly as possible. Pool and Facilities: We are currently reviewing the setup of our pool area to ensure it is as accessible and enjoyable as possible for all guests. We also appreciate your feedback on our bar prices and facilities; this will be considered in our ongoing efforts to improve guest satisfaction. Staff and Services: While our staff is trained to handle various situations, we understand that not all issues can be resolved immediately. We are committed to training our team to better manage and address guest concerns and ensure respectful behavior. We regret that these issues affected your stay and your experience with us. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you encountered. We hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Thank you for your understanding.
