Cannot fault

I'm going here in September and concerned there aren't any recent reviews. Should I be worried?

Are there bars/restaurants very close by?

Hi Fiona, as others have mentioned there is a pool side cafe/restaurant serving the usual. Outside the complex on a reasonably flat road sloping down towards the sea and church is Lords Bar and also Aquamar - both in the same new building and both serving food, although Aquamar is more posh nosh and Lords is more bar food. Uphill are a couple of Italian's and Indian's although we were not impressed by one of the Indian ones. If you don't have any major mobility issues I would also definitely recommend the beach restaurant, Vilarinho which is a 10 min downhill walk - lovely setting and really good food. Hope this helps.

Yes there was in all of our bedrooms. They also had extra fans for upstairs.

Is there a Catholic Church near the resort?

I believe the nearest one is Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Not quite sure of the cost via taxi, but check out Resort Hoppa etc for prices. Id also suggest calling or emailing the resort who would tell you exactly what church is closest. Enjoy!
