This is a simple yet highly satisfactory hotel in the heart of Faro town. It's not well situated for beach lovers but great if you just want to explore the town for a couple of days, or are passing through. It is NOT, contrary to one review "5 mins walk from the station". In Faro, the pavements are mostly made of small rough-hewn stones and my journey on foot from the station took 20 mins and was a nightmare with a roller suitcase. This is in no way to downgrade the hotel. Just get a taxi if arriving by train, they're cheap! It's just about walkable from the bus station in 10 min. The hotel is up some steep stairs and The public areas are dark, cool and marble-lined. The elderly proprietor is initially suspicious but soon warms to you. Rooms simple but spotless and en-suite was very adequate. There are some enticing-looking restaurants laid out on the island in front of the hotel but they rate poorly on TripAdvisor. Look elsewhere and nowhere is very far in Faro. One final word of warning if you're searching for this place . . . contrary to TripAdvisor's entry, this place is actually called 'Residential Central' and if you're not aware of that you could easily overlook the sign if you're hunting for Pensao Central!

We stayed one night in this lovely pension which is very well located in Faro to the bus depot and train station. The owner/manager is so nice and very helpful. We didn't know Portuguese and he doesn't speak English but we managed to communicate with French and a little Spanish. I did reserve the room over the telephone using this method. The pension is central and wasn't hard to find; we were able to get parking nearby on the street while we checked in prior to returning our rental car. Our room was modest but very clean and adequate and had a lovely little balcony over a street and a square, which was quiet. The tree opposite our balcony was covered in beautiful violet-coloured blooms; it was so pretty! The pensao was located next to a very good restaurant (can't remember the name exactly - Three Brothers??) which had a lovely outdoor patio at the back and served excellent clams and pork. We were able to walk to the marina and enjoy a drink outdoors in the sunshine. It was convenient to walk around the centre of town and the shops. There were bakeries and cafes nearby where we were able to get breakfast. It was a short 5-minute walk to the bus depot. This pensao offers excellent value for your euro and I would definitely stay there again. I really liked the host, he was so nice!

We spent two nights here in low season. The room at the front overlooked a nice square and there was no problem with noise because Faro is a ghost town in winter. As per other reviews the place is spotless especially the sparkling bathroom. The host is charming and offered to communicate in Spanish, French or Portuguese but we managed to get along with English ok. The rooms are large, tiled floor. The over bath shower does not have a holder at head height, we used the bath instead. The beds are pretty comfy although the sheets are made of fleecy material, as are the pillowcases which made me glad I'd packed my pillowcase and sleeping bag liner. The coverlet smelt a bit dusty. There is no heating or cooling in the room. It was ok for us as this winter is mild, but could be uncomfortable in colder weather and in summer. The owner of this place is lovely and makes every effort to make sure the guests are comfortable. This is a great budget option in Faro if you can get used to polar-fleece bedding!

It's a lovely, basic little guesthouse, 5mins walk from the bus station/train station and 3mins to the old town walls. Just behind Hotel Faro and Eva so very central. Lovely owner, little English but spoke French instead. Basic rooms but very clean and pleasant. Only slight downside the shop below my room decided to restock at 7am in the morning so a bit of an early wake-up but still good value for the money.

Most reviews have said it all already. Its location is superb, not only convenient for both bus and rail station, near the waterfront, but also surrounded by restaurants and cafes plus a supermarket next door. Our room was large and airy with a nice big clean bathroom - hard to beat at the price. No breakfast, but plenty places nearby. Really pleasant, helpful hosts, though communication was done in a mixture of French and Spanish - they don't speak much, if any English. Would definitely stay again if we return to Faro.
