Had a great overnight stay while in Faro. Room was lovely and had modern private bathroom. We had a car and they were able to provide parking for us which was great. The room was very clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful and continental breakfast was nice out on the back terrace. From there we were able to easily walk to Chapel of the Bones so very convenient. Would definitely stay there again.
We booked and paid for 3 nights then spent 2 hours driving/ walking round Faro to find the place . We asked a million locals ( useless exercise )then came across it by chance up a side street .Theres a plaque on the door with the name about the size of a postage stamp. Place was in darkness — deserted — no sign of life . We had a PIN number — no good !( nowhere to punch the numbers in!!) Piece of A4 blutacked to the door — “ we are temporarily away” !,, What does that mean ? — an hour ?— 2 days ? — a month? By now it’s dark but hold on - there’s a tel no to ring! We try it 7 times on 2 different phones — it doesn’t even ring out — unobtainable!!! We find a cafe with WiFi and cancel the booking just after 10pm- at least we’ve saved the payment for 2 of the 3 nights !— we spend the night in the hire car ( Fiat 500 ) - not recommended. Next day I complain to booking.com— they say the owner/ manger was waiting for us until midnight ( NOT TRUE)— they question whether we actually DID turn up !! But I have them there - I took a photo of the message on the door ( obviously timed and dated) — next morning we go back and the owner/ manager is there !!! He’s polite and apologetic in all fairness and says he will recommend a full refund ( which we got )— I explain that his system doesn’t work . Then he gestures for me to follow him upstairs - he takes me to the room which would have been ours — someone has slept in ONE of the single beds !!— was it us ? I explain to him that it must have been Goldilocks and ask him if any porridge is missing from the kitchen—- he doesn’t understand ( and neither do I ) — BE WARNED !!!…
I stayed there for one night (in the side building) and I needed to leave in the middle of the night because there have been bedbugs everywhere: under the beds, on the walls, in the doorframe, .... I have never ever seen something like this and I was travelling a lot around the world. I needed to pay for another hotel and for laundry because I needed to clean EVERYTHING. I came back in the morning to complain. There was no manager because both of them needed to work in another job. The employee (she was very nice) tried to contact them but they only messaged her. They didn't call or showed up. They argued that the bugs have been woodbugs. That was just a joke. I got bitten everywhere and woodbugs look very different (just look on the photos I took and you can see that those animals are bedbugs). They refund me 30 € for the night but not more. I would expect that they give me at least half of the extra money I needed to spent for cleaning and new hotel (in total it was more than 100 €). So if you want to have nice and relaxing vacations, DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!…
We needed an overnight stay as we were flying back from a couple week stay, so we had expectations only for a clean quiet place to stay. Indeed do Largo fit that bill. What we didn't expect was a funky (in a good way) fun place. The kids loved the bunk beds, shared balcony. Ines, our host, was lovely, set us up quickly and had suggestions for dinner, which was excellent (see my review of Se7e Wine bar). We were only disappointed that we only had one night in the guest house and Faro itself. We'll be back.
I didn't realize this was a hostel style hotel when I booked it but it was only one night so it was sufficient. The room we stayed in was a queen bed and large roomy wooden bunkbeds. The hostess was nice and brought us a fan as the rooms were hot with no a/c. The room itself had high ceilings and was roomy but very small bathroom and there was really no place to put your belongings except on the floor or tiny nightstands. We had to share our balcony with the next room which would have been no problem but it was hot and we needed to open the doors but the guest next door was an avid smoker. Unfortunately this made our stay a bit uncomfortable. The breakfast was basic but sufficient and we had full use of the kitchen if we needed it, so there was a place to put our water or soda bottles.…
