Aqualuz Lagos By The Editory has garnered a spectrum of feedback from guests. While the hotel's prime location near the old town is widely appreciated, some guests feel that the overall experience doesn't live up to its 4-star claim, pointing to basic amenities and additional charges.
Cleanliness stands out as a strong suit, with a notable clean pool and well-kept premises. Opinions on service and amenities are split; some visitors commend the helpful staff and facilities like the pool, while others have faced issues with room maintenance and design that detract from the hotel's comfort and atmosphere.

Detailed Reviews
We were greeted by the receptionist with a smile and warm welcome. He gave us a map of the area, showed us how to navigate around, and also provided tips on how to make our stay even more special. The one bedroom room with pool view was spacious, very clean and well equipped. Little touches like shower cream, soap, beach towels and washing up liquid and sponge was a welcome. Had microwave, toaster, kettle and coffe machine. The pool and hotel grounds were very well maintained and altho we only stayed at the pool one day, there were always plenty of loungers available.
We had breakfast one morning, which was buffet style consisting of cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurts, pastries cold meats and cheeses plus the cooked breakfast variety. Bread was available for toasrting too.
For us, the hotel was idaly situated to explore Lagos as it was approx 8 min walk to centre of town, 5 min to Spar supermarket, 20mins to Marina centre (where most boat trips leave) and so many coved beaches near by to choose , all from 10-25 min walk, depending how far you want to travel. Some of the streets are inclined and the beaches have many steps to reach them, so if you have any problems, then this may be a challange, but for us, AquaLuz was the perfect position.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful too. We had a problem with balcony door which was fixed within the hour, and when I realised our kettle was not working, that was replaced immediately also. The room has air conditioning which is free and also the bedroom has a safe of which the lock and key can be provided for €15 .
We loved our time at Lagos and AquaLuz, for us was a special place to stay. We hope you enjoy your time too if you choose to stay.

We stayed in a nice, clean and big apartment with swimming pool views. Very fresh and well ventilated, and with more things than we really needed: fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, dishes, cutlery, and some pots, glasses, mugs, etc. they even provide towels for the swimming pool.
We can’t speak of lunch or dinner but we had breakfast every day at the hotel and we loved how it was prepared. Fresh yogur, fruit, cereals and fresh orange juice, all in individual jars and bottles with lids, hot food and sweets served by staff in a self service queue, and coffee machine and teas also available. Very clean and hygienic specially in these times of covid.
There are two swimming pools, one for adults and one for small kids, both spotless clean as well as the grass areas and the sun beds.
Definitely we would come back if visiting Lagos in the future.

Just back from a week here (booked through Jet2holidays) & had a lovely stay.
It’s a great base to do some exploring & about a 15 minute walk down to the old town.
My room 210 was amazing, with everything you could need for a self catering holiday & there is a restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
I didn’t use the gym or indoor pool, but on having a look around, it looked well stocked & plenty of room.
The main thing about the hotel is the staff. Everyone I met was so friendly. Being a solo traveller, this makes a big difference & all were extremely helpful, giving ideas of places to visit, all to add to the holiday.

Returned last week from 2 week stay in this hotel. We stayed in a one bed apartment on a high floor, having upgraded to a pool view upon arrival. Original city view room (as booked) was a great large apartment but we wanted a sunny balcony. The hotel was relatively quiet so an upgrade was easily arranged (for a small charge) by the friendly and helpful Reception staff. The apartment was clean, with towels and sheets regularly changed. Fully equipped kitchenette, (handy spa supermarket about 7 mins walk for food/drink) bathroom with shower over bath.
Hotel location excellent, 15 minute walk into old town one way and beach the other.
Sunny Pool area with plenty of sun beds - as a couple we were happy to stay in May- imagine a very family orientated stay in the summer holidays with child’s pool, kids clubs etc!
Overall would stay again and look forward to returning to Lagos and the Aqualuz

We have stayed here 3 times and have not been disappointed. Rooms are spacious and clean with lots of clean linens and towels. Maids came into clean every day. There are plenty of sun beds and the hotel provides pool towels. Lots of entertainment for those that want it around the pool and a games room to keep the teenagers amused.
The pool bar provides ample snacks and refreshments at reasonable prices and all staff are friendly and helpful.
The only downside is that the pools themselves have a few loose tiles and could do with a bit of maintenance work, but the pools are clean with plenty of pool side showers.
The hotel is 5 minutes walk into the town centre where you can find numerous bars and restaurants to suit everyone.
Another enjoyable holiday at the Aqualuz.

This hotel is in my opinion is designed for families.
The apartment we stayed in had all the equipment that is required to feel as we are home. Apart from that, the customers can use the two outdoor swimming pools as well as a game room. To be noted that the Hotel has an entertainment plan for the full week, which is great for children.
Plus points of the Hotel is definitely being 10 min walk from the beach such as Praia dos Estudantes or 15 min walk to Praia Dona Ana.
The staff is friendly and always ready to help.

We stayed here in April 2017 for 4 nights and it was very relaxing the room we stayed in was very modern it was 2 stories bedroom upstairs and toilet and kitchen and living room downstairs large balconies on both floors. The pool was huge it was a bit chilly but understandable for April. It was very quiet around the hotel a little bit of a walk to the central bars restaurants but it’s a nice walk . We didn’t eat in the hotel and the local restaurants and area is fab. Praia de camilo beach was fabulous water was so blue and it was a very small beach about 150 steps down maybe more but it’s so worth it just relax there for a while. Would highly recommend for those who just need a little break.

We were extremely disappointed with the quality of room for the price. It is priced at over €300 per night and the bedrooms don’t even have windows with natural light.
The pool gets strangely deep in less than a meter, I would not recommend for a family with younger kids.
The general feel is that investment has been put into the lobby and front area but then the tiles are coming off the pool and one day the ledge of the pool fell off.
The air con in the rooms was good, however if the kids were in bed, you couldn’t sit on the balcony as the fan for the the a/c is on the balcony so it was too warm to sit there.
The rooms which were renovated were nice but we had to fight to get one after 4 days.
It was only thanks to Joao that it happened, who seemed to the only proactive person behind the seat.
All in all I think this is average accommodation which is charging hugely above its price range given its quality and standard.

Dear Darren P., Thank you very much for your visit and your evaluation! A special thank you on behalf of João, we'll forward your kind words to him as well. Overall, we neglected mentioning our internal policy of always delivering exactly the type of apartment a Guest books. Last minute or check-in changes depend on general occupancy. After all of the recent circumstances, we're very happy for running a full house. We'll still implement some of your suggestions in order to keep improving and, who knows if we meet some time again in the future. Kind regards, The hotel team.

We didn’t enjoy it .
Too many people saving beds with towels at 8:00 in the morning
Apartment quite dated
Cleaner came in once and knocked my daughters phone off the table where it was charging and smashed the screen we went to reception the manager just wasn’t interested he said show me the glass bits that have come out so we went back and found them and he said the cleaner said she hasn’t done anything so it was her word against ours and that was it. He said we can send it to a repair shop and he’ll “glue the bits back in” .
The staff were rude especially Joao and Marco . The breakfast was chaos many mornings with too many people and the tables hadn’t been cleared away. The best bits were the girls who ran the kids club doing aqua aerobics and pool games their energy was amazing . We would not return unfortunately. You will need bottle opener, wash up sponge scissors if you think you may use these items whilst on holiday. Lagos is amazing though we’ve been visiting for 18 years and Portugal 30+ years . Recommend Maria Petisca restaurant but should probably book. Pizza do Frances good too . Pro golf is good for a change at night. Enjoy yourselves 🇵🇹

Dear 181jillb12, One must start by thanking you for your visit and your comments. We also regret and apologize for all of the inconveniences. Despite the fact that we won't be having your visit again, actions will take place in order correct our staff’s attitude. We stand for an attitude, very different from that you've experienced and reported. Even in the middle of a full occupancy! A serious conversation with João, Marco and their Supervisor will take place immediately. A big thank you on behalf of the Entertainment team, they’re there to, really, make a difference. It’s their main challenge. Again thanking you, very much, for your valuable comments. Kind regards, The hotel team.

Hotel is situated in a great location, 10 min walk to centre of the old town and close to three beaches, with a supermarket round the corner. We had a premium studio apartment (no iron though, which we was shocked at) which was the perfect size for two people, the rooms have some wear and tear and even though ours were the more modern ones they could do with some updating. Rooms were cleaned every day, pool area was really nice with lots of sunbeds. The breakfast buffet was standard with enough selection. The pool bar serves cheap drinks and food (lovely sangria on tap for 3 euros!), the food was ok for the convenience but not the best, we mostly ate lunch in town. The bar itself didn't have much atmosphere, music would help, we always went out in town, it was always quiet. Some of the hotel needs updating, our corridor to our hotel room resembled more of a hospital than hotel. Overall a great experience and we would return. For UK standards I would say this was more of a 3 star hotel than 4.

Yes, it’s possible to walk, about 15 minutes walk!
The city view rooms do have balconies and are nice large rooms…however they are north facing so don’t get a lot/any sun. Ok if you want to stay cool. We upgraded because of this but it is down to availability.
