We were supposed to stay in this hotel for 5 days, but due to the mistake of our travel agent, we ended up staying only for 1 night and a day.
Our luggage got lost during transit flights and the staff of this hotel was extremely friendly and helpful in dealing with cancelled reservation and finding the luggage and transferring them to a new hotel. They really went above and beyond in their customer service. Would return to this hotel just for the amazing staff.
Location is excellent, the breakfast was delicious and the restaurant next door is a must dinner place. Rooms are maybe little outdated but it really didn’t bother us.

I will start with the good. I wanted to give this hotel at least a four star rating as the check-in process was excellent and the desk clerk was very friendly. However, we rented two rooms and one of the rooms had a broken air conditioner. When I requested that someone look at it the next morning, I was initially told it was working fine. I was unable to get the clerk to understand that the fan is not the same as the air conditioner. Later that afternoon when it still was not fixed I was told it was too late to switch rooms as housekeeping had left for the day. The saving grace was the night clerk finding us a fan which at least made the room bearable. I know many hotels do not have air-conditioning, but this was selected specifically because it did. Otherwise, the hotel is acceptable and as I indicated, in an excellent area/location.

Stayed here for 6 nights and had a basic but neat, clean and comfortable room. The hotel is in a great location if you plan to explore on foot. Staff was well organized and helpful, and breakfast was good as well, with a lot of options. I had a room overlooking the street, which is a fairly busy pedestrian street, and I was warned that it might be noisy on the weekend, but the windows were surprisingly well soundproofed and I was not bothered one bit.

I only had one night here (would have liked to stay longer). There is a bar and restaurant downstairs and the rooms had plenty of plug sockets and two USB chargepoints. The nice lady in reception brought me up a cold drink from the bar after my flight which was appreciated.

Hotel Alcides was a wonderful place to stay during our time in Ponta Delgada! It was centrally located at a great price. There was some noise from other guests at night, but this was expected at the price. The breakfast in the morning was amazing, with several options.

We spent one day and night in Ponta Delgado before traveling to another Azorean island and stayed at Hotel Alcides. It is a wonderful hotel - centrally located, clean and comfortable rooms, very helpful staff, and great breakfast that is included. We arrived from a red eye flight hours before our room was ready and the staff let us partake in the breakfast even though we had not checked in yet. After we walked around the city for a few hours, we returned and were ready to wait in the lounge for our room but it was ready early. We really enjoyed our stay and it was a great value.

Hotel is located in central Ponta Delgada about 10 mins in a taxi from Airport. Hotel also is a restuarant which was pretty busy the days i was there but think it closes Sunday. Check in was easy with a 24 hr reception. Room was comfortable but basic. Breakfast was good different options hot and cold. Defo a good option, near all the main sights, tourist office bus and taxi ranks

Value for money is undoubtedly gained here. Room, en-suite shower and breakfast with do it yourself fresh orange juice and great sausages for less than fifty quid a night for a twin room. A pub next door too, open until two am.

could not compliment this place more! stayed for a week in mid-september and loved my bright, clean, cheerful room. the hotel is in the most convenient location right by the main plaza and water. staff is v helpful and friendly (even when i was constantly asking for ice and hot water). will def be back to ponta delgada specifically because of my experience at hotel alcides!! tysm!

The location is the best just in the center of Ponta Delgada where main places can be reached by walking. The rooms are very simple, very old, but clean. Breakfast was very nice with fresh orange juice made by ourselves.
The staff was great since the minute we arrived. Help on rent-a-car,suggestions on places to eat and go. Everyone was very friendly.
The restaurant is very good with the famous Alcides steak.
The only difficulty is a place to parking but if you don't mind to walk 5 minutes then it won't be an issue.
I certainly recommend it.

There are several places to swim in the sea along the seafront and marina which is just 10 mins walk away .
