Whilst it is fair to say that you will not be blown away upon arriving at the front of the building once you step inside everything just gets better. The host (Magaride?) is very welcoming and settles you in very quickly and takes great pride in showing off her lovely garden. My wife happened to mention that she liked fresh, natural teas and thereafter she had a supply of freshly picked mint, fennel and lemon grass delivered to our room daily straight from the garden. We had the room located adjacent to the beautiful courtyard, there was plenty of room with a large shower/bathroom where everything worked perfectly. The bedroom had plenty of storage space and the separate lounge/diner had a small kitchenette attached. The decorations are delightful and may be the result of consultations with a professional interior designer? We would very happily return and are confident that all but the most demanding of visitors will be very satisfied with this choice of accommodation.…
We stayed 5 nights in the garden apartment (I think we were the first guests of the season) which was a self contained flat at the end of the lovely garden (full of banana, citrus and guava trees, veg and herbs) with its own patio and outside seating. It was lovely to enter off the street, walk through the hall and come out in the peaceful garden then walk down the path towards our little haven which was really comfy with all amenities. Bananas and guavas, tea, jam and bread was left for us, and we were invited to pick fruit and veg as we wished. Temperature in Jan was coolish, and a dehumidifier was provided which helped as it could have felt chilly otherwise when damp. The kitchen was excellently equipped. Beds comfy (the wonderful daily maid service for some reason put the electric blankets on top of the bed even when we moved them underneath, so we gave up with them in the end!!) with bedside lights - really important and oft omitted. Wifi was not great but Margharida sorted that as soon as she could. We didn't use it much anyway - we were out and about. Also all cafes in PD have it. Shower excellent, comfy living room with a telly (which we didn't bother with!) Apartment is really convenient for everywhere in PD and we walked all over the place to gardens, the marina, etc and caught the public buses North East and West to hike the caldeiras and lakes and explore the towns. Public transport is very good - and cheap. We would love to return here one day.…
The little garden cottage is was really lovely. ...... So so peaceful and secluded. We were lucky enough to be there when the guavas were ripe. What a bonus. A comfy bed. A good shower. Good space to put things away and hang things up. Spotlessly clean. Nice and quiet as well. Very well supplied kitchen. Every one was wonderful. 10/10. Thank you.
Margarida will do anything to make sure your stay is a happy one. The rooms at the back of the house are up a couple of flights of stairs and you share a bathroom. One of the rooms does not have any windows to look out - but does have a couple of velux windows in the ceiling. I stayed in one of the apartments in her amazing garden, where you can sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet there. There is also another apartment inside the house, which is very big. You can also use the garden with this apartment. Everything was very clean and every day the room cleaned. The WiFi is fast and the location is about 10 minutes walk to the sea front and about 20 minutes tot eh harbour/port where you go whale watching. Great week here!
My husband and I stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon. We were in a lovely suite with a small kitchenette. It's just over a 5 minute walk to a medium-sized grocery store (Supermercados Manteiga) and there's a small store that's only about a block away (on the corner if you turn right when you exit the building). It was perfect for making picnics for hikes! The room itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated! The wifi was slow, but good enough for most things. There is no air conditioning. The temperature was comfortable at night if we kept the windows open (so consider bringing earplugs if outside noise bothers you). Overall, Casa Vitoriana is definitely a place I would stay again!
