Hotel do Colégio is a boutique hotel run in a manor house, built on the 19th century, during the golden age of the trade of orange between Ponta Delgada and England. With a privileged location, in the historical city centre, we are a unique hotel, that combines the charm of the time it was built with all our modern comforts. In 2017, we started a new cycle and present you a renewed hotel, with a better environment, image and decoration, as well as the excellence service we've always put an effort to provide.

Getting there
Great for walkers

The hotel was lovely. The location was excellent as we were in the middle of Ponta Delgada close to several things. We walked to dinner and shopping and found it well-located for all the other activities we did around the island. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had the opportunity to stay in several hotel room types, including a standard family room and more common double occupancy rooms. They were all spacious and clean. The bathrooms could use a bit of an update but they were fine as well. Our included breakfast was lovely but it could improve a bit. Its good enough for getting your day started but some things could be better like offering eggs a la carte vs just scrambled eggs in a buffet-style offering. Our receptionist upon arrival was incredibly patient as we were a very large party with multiple rooms. She sorted out some occupancy issues with ease and made our welcome exceptional. We picked this hotel in part because it did have a pool which we thought could be a good distraction for the kids when the longer more complicated plans around the island were too tiring for the kids. But the pool is perhaps the weakest aspect of the hotel as it was VERY VERY cold for kids and was not as clean as it could be. I know most people don't come to this particular hotel in this type of location to use a pool, but if you are going to offer it its best to make it usable. That would be my only complaint. The hotel had limited parking which in our party we got to use but not constantly as it was small and one of the three cars we were driving was always left to find street parking. Luckily there was plenty of that around the hotel, but its very narrow streets so its best to have small cars or know how to park very tightly to the curb to avoid damages on the rental. Overall lovely and would stay there again. But probably best suited for couple or adults with older kids.

My stay at Hotel The College was simply irreproachable. From the first moment I was received with an extraordinary sympathy and availability from the whole team. I highlight Maria João, for her contagious sympathy and constant attention, without forgetting, of course, the other collaborators, always ready to help and with an exemplary kindness.
The hotel presents itself with impeccable cleanliness and a comfort that makes us feel at home. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Ponta Delgada, a few minutes from the City Doors, allowing peaceful walks around the city, always on foot.
The breakfast is wonderful, filled with fresh and local products, a true showcase of the flavors of the Azores.
Without a doubt, an experience to repeat and a hotel that I highly recommend. My sincere thanks to the whole team!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel do Colegio. All of the front desk staff were welcoming, helpful and responsive to our requests. The room was bigger than we had expected and very clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is centrally located with an easy walk to everything we wanted to see. There was easy on-street parking (although the street is quite narrow) - free on Sunday; metered the rest of the week. We also enjoyed dining at the Japanese restaurant inside the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Do Colégio in Ponta Delgada. The staff were very welcoming and professional, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel is ideally located, allowing easy access to all the main attractions of the city.
While the narrow streets can make parking a bit challenging, there’s a free parking lot with plenty of spaces less than a 10-minute walk away, which was very convenient. The breakfast was good, offering a nice variety to start the day.
Our room was comfortable and well-maintained. However, having a kettle for making tea or coffee would have been a nice addition. Despite this small inconvenience, the location and value for money make this hotel a great choice for a stay in the Azores.
The pool is small and not heated, but it was still a nice spot to relax. Overall, we highly recommend Hotel Do Colégio for anyone visiting Ponta Delgada.

Great hotel right in the middle of the city; easy walking distance to shops & restaurants. If you signed up for any tours, the pick-up location is just a 2 minute walk up the street. Breakfast was plentiful, hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Walls/sound insulation is not the greatest though so if you are a light sleeper, would suggest bringing earplugs. Other than that, I would stay here again.

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel do Colégio and we were not disappointed that we chose to stay there during our vacation on the island of Sao Miguel. We had a superior room and it had everything we possibly need. The bed was large and conformable, the toilet was big and everything was very clean. The hotel itself is right in the center of Ponta Delgada with many shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast had everything we need to start our days before going out and exploring the island, different types of breads, cakes, croissants, eegs, bacon, juices, etc. The hotel was very quite during our stay. If we ever come back to Ponta Delgada we certainly will stay again at Hotel do Colégio

This hotel located in the city center is very suitable for a short stay in Punta Delgada: we are 10 minutes from the airport and Rua del Colegio is a nice little street. The reception hall on the ground floor reflects the historic and charming character of the hotel - the rooms a little less: they are functional and large. We had a room on the short side and it's very quiet - you can sleep with the window open without any problem. Note that if you have half board, the hotel restaurant is Japanese and the food is very good. Finally, for early departures for the airport, the hotel provides a take-away breakfast. In short, everything here is great for a stay to discover the city. Well done and thank you!

+ We stayed 6 nights in this hotel and liked it. The staff was great, extremely kind and helpful. The hotel was nicely decorated, the room was large and clean, cleaned every day. We had an armchair and a little sofa at the desk. The hotel is very well located, close to everything - many restaurants and shops at walking distance. The hotel has a Japanese restaurant with delicious dishes and great service. The breakfast, although the same every day, was generous offering multiple choices for all tastes. The pool looked nice but we could not use it as it was too cold outside (in February).
We needed two umbrellas and the receptionists were so kind to borrow them to us. / I had a business meeting in a morning, earlier than breakfast's opening, and the staff was nice to offer me a business room and a coffee. / We've got guidance for the attractions and trips around the island and helped to be in contact with a travel agency organizing tours. / We could have late checkout. We would happily stay again in this hotel!
- Free internet not working well. Poor light from a few lamps. No kettle for tea or coffee. No tomatoes or salads at breakfast. Some days and nights it was cold in the room.

Great location in Ponta Delgada - walkable to just about everything, but not too busy or noisy outside. We found Ponta Delgada a great base for the island overall. Free parking in their underground car park (with car elevator), but as others have said, the entrance is a bit tricky and only really suitable for smaller cars. If you do have a larger car, or don't want to put it in the car park every time, the on-street parking is cheap, if you can find a space. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and will always gladly help you getting the car in and out. Overall, definitely recommended and we would happily return.

Hotel is a charming renovation of a historic music conservatory and school. Wonderful location on a small street 2 blocks away from the waterfront and walking distance to most of the downtown attractions.
Front desk staff was absolutely fabulous: warm and very helpful. Carlos spent probably 10 minutes with us marking up a map and helping us create an itinerary for our stay.
Rooms are quite large (by European standards), but the furnishings and bathroom fixtures are beginning to show their age. Could hear rambunctious kids in room next door (but only right before dinner, so wasn't a problem at night). Pool is quite tiny and in courtyard, so is really more decorative than functional.

Hello! Thank you for your question!
We have an underground garage that you can use free of charge. It really depends on the time you intend to visit us, because parking is limited and we don't accept reservations. If you're visiting us in a season with a considerably low demand, I'm sure you'll find a spot! You can also park on the street of the Hotel, for a fee of about 6€/day.
If you need further help, please, let me know!
Best regards,

Hi, there is a rental car agency very near the hotel called Ilha Verde that you could rent a car from. You could ask the hotel for help. This is a beautiful hotel by the way, right in Ponte Delgada. I highly recommend it!
