Detailed Reviews
Great location, easy access from airport and also to all the key sites in Ponta Delgada, don’t be concerned about the airport as we had no disruption due to plane noise. Nice room on the 2nd floor, spacious bed, air conditioning and view over the gardens. Breakfast was buffet style but plenty of choice and whenever things were low they were quickly replenished. Staff were always happy to help and very polite, but not overly officious! Reception team very helpful and helped us to book a 3 day private tour of the island, which was excellent and happy to pass on the guides details if anyone is interested. Bar staff were excellent, we would always pop in when we got back from the day out, before going out and when we got back from a night out and they were all very pleasant and helpful. We eat in the restaurant one night but would highly recommend it, we went a la carte and the food was splendid as well as the service and very reasonably priced as well. If it wasn’t for the fact that we wanted to explore other places to eat we would have definitely eaten here again. All in all a wonderful stay, made even better by the warm welcome from all the staff.

This hotel was a nice landing spot for our stay in Sao Miguel, being a short drive from the airport and a 10 minute walk into downtown Ponta Delgada. There aren't many eateries or shops nearby so you'll have to go downtown for most of your needs. We rented a car (covered garage parking was included in our rate) which was convenient and allowed us to explore a bit more.
We stayed in the family suite, which was very spacious and clean. The aesthetic is very retro modern (it's like they benefitted from art nouveau coming back into style as some of their fixtures are probably back from the 80s but now look modern again) and there are nice luxury touches (robes/slippers, high end toiletry kits, large soak in tub) that make your stay feel upscale. We arrived with a welcome cheese and cracker plate, bottle of wine, and personal note from the hotel manager which was a pleasant surprise coming in from a long day of traveling.
The hotel itself has a lot of great amenities, including an indoor and outdoor pool, turkish bath and sauna, and tennis court. Our kids had a blast relaxing here after exploring the island. Our room rate included free breakfast buffet, which didn't include made-to-order items but was large and plentiful with enough items and variety to keep you fed through lunchtime.
We were happy with our stay here and would recommend it to others visiting Sao Miguel and Ponta Delgada.

The Azoris hotel is newly renovated and the rooms are just gorgeous, with a lot of attention to the smallest details and design. It's chic and luxurious, with beautiful pink and marbled accents which I loved. The room is spacious and has a big balcony with a nice view.
It has excellent facilities like the pool, spa, Zen Garden, Koi restaurant, bar which means it's a great place to relax after a day out exploring Sao Miguel.
The hotel restaurant Koi Restaurant is also superb for both breakfast and dinner, the indoor garden decor with the hanging leaves are a nice touch as well as the view of the Zen Garden. We enjoyed our three course dinner which included Azorean traditional dishes.
It is perfectly situated in the middle of Ponta Delgada, so I found it very convenient to walk to all the restaurants and bars in the main town center as well as all the tours which start from there.
Highly recommended for a stay in a great location and all the amenities and luxe.

Overall great hotel – good value for money, good amenities and great location. Would stay here if visited again. We stayed one night at the Azor Hotel for work and this was much better and half the price!
Rooms
We had an executive room with a balcony at the front of the hotel. Recently refurbished and nicely decorated. Good size with a desk, couple of chairs, a chaise lounge, fridge and nice bathroom. The view was nice from the front (just about see the sea). Only slight let down is the A/C isn’t that powerful, was just about ok.
Hotel
The breakfast was really, great choice and had clear allergen labels. The bar also does great cocktails including a happy hour 5-6pm. The Zen garden is nice and having both and indoor and outdoor pool is great, especially as the weather can be very changeable. Plus the steam room and sauna which is nice as well as a gym. The hotel also provides towels for using by the pool but can also take these offsite if go to thermal baths which was helpful.
Location
Great for walking into town (only about 10mins) but not noisy. Only issue is you’re very close to the airport so you do get noise from that. Not major problem as the airport is quite small so generally no late flights. If you’re worried or want to avoid noise during the day then it might be quieter with rooms not facing the front like the Zen Garden.

We arrived in Ponte Delgado at 6:15 am and by 8:30 am we were all checked in to our rooms and on our way to the breakfast room. The staff at the hotel is friendly, helpful and very organized. Steven and John were both great helps with recommendations on things to see and places to eat. The front desk staff called and made restaurant reservations for us and were very helpful in directions on how to get to the locations. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast room staff wore mask and changed their gloves often. It was a buffet and to go to the buffet you needed to wear your mask and they had gloves you had to wear to select your items. The bar area was great and the staff in this location were also friendly and helpful. The hotel is located just a 5 minute walk to the center of town so it’s location is great.

Our dream was to visit Sao Miguel once in a lifetime, that dream came true in December 2022, we decided to spend our honeymoon in Ponta Delgada. Hotel Azoris was absolutely amazing, we couldn't imagine a better service. As a welcome gift we received a bottle of champagne with macarons, which was a very pleasant surprise for us. The hotel is located very close to the city center, making it a lovely quiet place to rest. We could use from 8am to 8pm the pool, jacuzzi, turkish bath and gym, which was really relaxing and nice (note that you need a swimming cap in the pool). Our room was on the 3rd floor next to the garden with 2 bathrooms (with shower and bathtub), minibar + nespresso machine (1.5 euros for each cup). We really enjoyed our 10 nights in this hotel and we can surely recommend everyone this place to stay. Once again, a BIG thank you to the entire team at Azoris Royal Garden for making our honeymoon truly unique. Regards Magda and Rik

Breakfast poor and with poor quality products.
I never knew if or what time the room was cleaned.
There were days when the room was cleaned at 5pm.
The towels were never changed, unless I specifically asked for them. The thing about leaving the towels on the floor couldn't work, as I didn't know what time they would come for cleaning or if they would come at all. They always forgot to take the used glasses and cups and replace them with clean ones.
I had the room located above the reception, and in the morning and in the evening until late at night there was a lot of noise due to the buses that stopped for 15-20 minutes with the engine running. Obviously, many disadvantages. I complained 2 times, by email, at the reception, but they never answered me.
For room service you had to call persistently, every 10-15 minutes. I called the front desk to ask what I had to do to order something in the room and was told that the best thing to do was to go down to the bar and order.

My husband and I stayed at the Azoris Royal Garden March 16-23 and loved the hotel. We had a basic room — two twin beds, bathroom, spacious closet, TV, table and chairs and small balcony. More than adequate for our needs. Every day, a cleaner stopped by to straighten the sheets and clean the bathroom. Other than going on two day excursions — one full-day to Nordeste and Furnas and one half-day to Sete Cidades, we were perfectly content to enjoy the ambience of the hotel. There were pockets of furniture groupings on each floor where we could relax while reading or listening to radio programs. There's also a game room on the first floor with a billiards table, so my husband taught me how to play pool, and I loved that. At the opposite end of the first floor, there's a beautiful baby grand piano at the bar, and no one minded that I played. On our final day, we enjoyed his and her massages right at the hotel. Many thanks for the kindness of Hotel Manager Philip, front desk clerks Lisette and Ana and Koi waitstaff member Helena (we loved the shrimp and portobello risotto and chateaubriand). Koi's breakfast buffet provided delicious items, from silver dollar pancakes to poached eggs and fresh pineapple. I would caution Americans who travel to the Azores — do not rely on your credit cards because they are not accepted everywhere. Instead, bring plenty of Euros and pay cash. One suggestion to management: Remove the rugs placed under the beds in the rooms as they pose a hazard. In the middle of the night, my husband caught his foot on the rug, fell and ended up with a minor injury to his head. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Azoris for making our trip to Sao Miguel memorable.

A huge modern impersonal hotel with nice gardens and a short stroll to town. A 5 minute taxi ride to the airport.
The room was quite small but very modern and well furnished with a standard double bed. Very clean with nice bedding. Safe, mini bar, coffee machine.
There is a restaurant, bar and coffee shop.
We had a buffet meal as part of our deal and it was rather disappointing if you are vegetarian but there was plenty of it!
Very nice breakfast. Helpful staff on the whole.

When our travel company recommended this hotel because I wanted walkability, I looked at it on the map and thought it might be too far from restaurants. They were right; I was wrong. It’s location is perfect, and we walked to everything in downtown, particularly helpful after dinner with wine!
The hotel looks brand new. Our room faced the courtyard garden, and it was fun to watch four floors of guests relaxing on their balconies. The front desk was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations. Parking was only 6 euros per night and so convenient. The included breakfast buffet was varied and well done; we never ate again until dinner! We had sushi and ceviche at Koi Restaurant on our first night and it was excellent. Lots of places for relaxing around the hotel, tho we were too busy for much of that!

i was wondering if the rooms come with irons/ironing boards?
not listed under room amenities.
thanks
I didn't have one in my room however, if you ask for one at the front desk they may accomodate you.
Most rooms have balconies. Double rooms facing the pool view do not have balconies.
Hi Gerona. The hotel is in the city of Ponta Delgada, but not on a very busy street. After 6 pm, and on weekends, it is actually very quiet. Most of our rooms are facing the hotel's garden, where you can only hear our birds (they perform quite a show at the end of the day when returning home to sleep!).
Hi Gerona. The executive room is on the street side, with a partial sea view, and the classic rooms are on the garden side (Zen garden or pool/tennis garden), which are normally the most appreciated views. The executive rooms were totally remodelled, including bathrooms, they have differentiated amenities and 4 daily Nespresso capsules for free. You can see more information on our website, in the ROOMS menu.
