The hotel is located near the port, just a few minutes walking from the main square. It's also easy to get from it to the main road to get to various locations across the island and there are two gas stations close by. It's close to the airport but we had no problem with noise.
The room had the necessary furniture, even a desk, and the beds were confortable. The decor is a bit dated but it's in good shape. The staff was always nice and checking in and out was really quick. Parking outside was never a problem but you have to pay for street parking too.

We arrived the hotel around 9am as our flight arrivals time was super early. There was no room available so we left our baggage with the concierge and went around the lovely city. When we arrived back it was still not time for check in, however the concierge found a room for us!
Room view was lovely, facing the neighbourhood and to the right a beautiful sea view.
We were received in the room by a lovely letter with seashells, and on the third day another lovely letter with chocolates.
Staff was very kind and helpful at all times.
Breakfast was great!
Pool is nice!
There is a public parking in front of the hotel, and its free from 20h until 8ham.
Hotel counts with a parking lot as well.
As our check out was before restaurant opens, the staff kindly prepared a take away bag with sandwiches, juice, water, frui and yogurt, it was very kind! <3

Nice centrally located hotel just a short walk to many restaurants and sites.
Hotel is clean and breakfast is basic and could use a change up every other day as it gets a little repetitive. Pass on scrambled eggs are not real egg.
Only complaint I have is there is no mini fridge in the room and as much as you think you can control the temperature in your room you can’t. The room was stuffy and I tried to turn on the air on it wouldn’t turn on. Apparently the system has to be switched for the whole hotel at once.
Hotel does have fans if needed.

This hotel is pretty average in many respects. Some of the reception staff are excellent and others seem like they cannot be bothered. The rooms are pleasant and housekeeping is done promptly and well. The hotel seems to have a big issue with air conditioning in the rooms. Having read previous reviews, air conditioning seems to have been an issue for many months and we had the same experience being given a room with no air conditioning which was pretty unpleasant in such high temperatures. We were moved to a room with air conditioning after 1 night which was good but this issue obviously needs to be sorted out. Breakfast was satisfactory but the dining room is not big enough to cope with the number of guests so we sat outside most morning which was pleasant to be away from the crowds. The staff in the breakfast room are very good. One thing that nobody mentions about this hotel is its proximity to the airport which actually did not bother us but it is important to know that you will be woken up each morning by flights overhead and they are pretty low. Overall a satisfactory experience but we would not stay here again.

We stayed for four nights in a king room and returned for one night to a standard room on our way home both were excellent , Check in was so pleasant nothing was a problem stored our cases for 12 days while we visited islands ,Welcome drink is a nice touch and personal card in room each time .
Off street parking ,really nice pool with towels available at reception ,lounge off reception with menu was our stop for lunch .
Breakfast was perfect lots of fresh fruit and pastries.
Outside was repainted while we were staying and looks great, you can see the management are investing and improving the hotel and when you walk in reception lounge/bar has a real fresh feel .
Hotel is well located at the end of the sea front and a short walk to plenty of good restaurants.
Thanks to staff for a super stay and we will definitely return next year .
Honestly couldn’t recommend hotel enough.

I had a great stay the first two days but my second one night stay stunk. Sadly this time around my room had no working lamp on the desk nor at the corner lamp! Crazy dark. The tv only goes to 35 max volume which makes it hard for those that are more hard of hearing..that was a noting on the first 2 night booking. Also on my first two night stay on the second night I was very unlucky having another best staying next to my room where he snores so loud I could not
Sleep.! He’s snoring was louder then the tv. That experience sucked and I didn’t ask to be loved of the room because it was 1:39 am and I was checking out next day..
There was no extra pillow nor blanket left in the closet on my second two night stay..maybe I should have asked.
The big turn off this second time around was trying to get in the hotel and for my dismay it was locked down. I had to wait 15 minutes at 2AM (dark rainy windy night ) until an employee showed up (FINALLY) some fifteen min later to unlock the main door of the building - front desk entrance. It was very strange to find A hotel locked down with all my belongings inside and me on the street calling the front desk via phone, ringing the door bell and loudly knocking on the door!!
I think if you have to lock the hotel to make a safety round as I was told, “ You” should ensure to let all guests know that this may happen. Very inconvenient. Also if this is to happen the employee making the safety round should have a front desk phone with to respond to guests calling the front desk particularly when locked out of the building!…please carry a phone!!! How hard can this be? Oh and is it possible that you can fix the other front desk doors!! They are either always locked or broken. Shame!

I travelled as single parent with 2 children, we were left disappointed with the service offered.

I appreciate check-in time was at 2pm, but reception would not offer to check if the room was ready earlier. They checked for other guests who were allowed to check-in early, but would not try for us. We had to wait until exactly 2pm. I found it frustrating that guests were receiving different treatment. It was unfair to see other guests arriving after us who were notified that their rooms were ready, however I was told it would not be possible to even check if our room was ready.

There was no one in the bar area to serve food or drinks despite it being advertised as open at lunchtime so had to go elsewhere.

The staff is in general very nice (especially at the reception) and very helpful.
However there were some things I did not appreciate. When I arrived the A/C in my room (pool view) was not working, so they changed my room and I ended up in a room with street view. I could hear every sound in the street, every car passing by. Sleeping was difficult.
Also, one day I left my room at 7:30 am and I came back at 3 om and my room was still not cleaned, which was quite a surprise..

The hotel is very central, the rooms are very clean and the staff are so nice. I had a significant birthday while I was there and they presented me a cake, it was such a nice gesture and it really summed up the hotel for me. Would recommend and would definitely stay again...

My Story Hotel Vila Nova helped make my first trip to São Miguel unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with excellent service. The rooms were extremely clean and the breakfast buffet was full of great options to choose from. I loved being close enough to walk to the town center and marina every day from the hotel. The location was perfect and very safe throughout my stay. All of the employees were attentive and friendly, especially André at the bar. He served my friends and I really delicious drinks after a long day on the island and made us feel at home. I will definitely be staying here again during my next visit to the Azores!

We stayed there last year and landed at 7 a.m. I emailed them and asked if I could check in early and they said that's not a problem. We just wanted the room for the day so we could take a nap and get cleaned up. They were very accommodating, just email and ask.
