Detailed Reviews
We were staying for one week at Set Sedades starting July 11, 2023. Comfortably close to the center of the city and major attractions. Extremely clean facility. Comfortable not big room. Stable wi-fi. Great view from the window on the third floor. Good breakfast. Reasonable price per night in the mid of tourist season. Seta Sedades can easily compete with fancy hotels. Most important, very friendly personnel. We were specially threated arriving after sleepless night at about 6AM. We would like to thank Margarita, who was managing the front desk that morning for arranging a clean room for us much earlier than 3:00PM (standard check in time)

We stayd 7 nights in this clean and friendly budget hotel. Comfortable beds and a balcony with street view. Breakfast was good, coffe/tea, juice, bread, cheese, ham, youghurt, cornflakes and fresh fruit salad every morning, The coffee from the machine wasn't good but the staff made an espresso when i asked. Breakfast room was small, but the area has 2 sections so guests can spread out a bit.
Location is good ,close to all necessary things in Ponta Delgada. Nice terrace upstairs with panorama view over Atlantic sea, mountains and the town. Unfortunately no chairs or tables on the terrace. Internet not available throghout the building (I knew that when I booked).

The hotel is only a short walk from the center, close to everything from restaurants to supermarkets. The free breakfast is a nice added service, with basic but tasty selection: bread, cheese, coffee, tea, pastry, yoghurt. The room was spacious and clean, however the furniture is a bit dated, a renovation would be good to make to hotel more modern. Bathroom was also clean, towels changed every day. Staff was very nice and helpful. Would recommend the place to everyone looking for good value for money.

as others have said - wow the staff is SO friendly and endlessly sweet and helpful. but also wow, the building is in such sad shape. there are dozens of other significantly nicer, newer, cleaner places like Canadiano Urban Nature Hotel next door for just a little more per night. hotel alcides, closer to the main plaza, was $50 usd cheaper per night when i went in mid-september and was so much more appealing in a boutique hotel sort of way (but it was booked when i got back from another island).
if secure parking is your main concern, then this is a good place for you as it's a gated lot behind the building, but otherwise, i would not recommend this place to anyone, which is sad to post since the staff are all so lovely.
the room/cleanliness are acceptable at best, but not for the price charged. as a solo female traveler, if this hotel had been in a more major city in mainland europe, i'd have been very freaked out by the dark creepy hallways etc (but ponta delgada is so chill and safe, it was fine)

Want to be treated like family? Then, Residential Sete Cidades in Ponta Delgada, Azores is the hotel for you. Right from the moment we entered the lobby, we were treated like family come home to visit rather than like a visitor. Up popped a head from behind the desk, smiling face and all. Before we could give her our reservation number, she welcomed us by calling out my name. Then she proceeded to give all sorts of information; breakfast the next morning, restaurants nearby, car rental and much, much more.
The room is spacious enough not to get in each other’s way. Free WIFI and plasma TV will keep you occupied and informed during downtime. Bathroom facilities come with a powerful showerhead that makes you want to stay a little longer. But don’t. Ponta Delgada has too much to offer!
The hotel itself is situated in a most convenient place. Close enough for a comfortable 10 minute walk to the centre yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Want something different from what is offered on the breakfast menu? Then ask and it will be provided the next day. And the next day, as well. Our request for boiled eggs to be added to their already extensive variety was readily supplied.
The airport shuttle drops you off right at the doorstep and picks you up with time to spare for your return flight. Even Antonio, the shuttle driver, greets and treats you like family while you are in his company.
Nothing is too much for them to answer or do for you. When you leave, it will be with a longing to return very soon!

Older property well situated in the town, it is just a short walk to everything in town. The rooms are clean, although the furniture looks a little beat up; the bathroom, too, is clean, although some of the shower fixtures are in need of repair.
Our room had twin beds and there was enough room for the two of us and the desk and chair as well as another chair. There is also a wardrobe to store luggage; even without using it, the room did not feel crowded.
The shower tiles and bathroom floor were in good condition as were the toilet and bidet. The shower fixture was a bit sad – we could not get the shower head to stay in position to rinse so had to resort to using it as a handheld sprayer. Soaps and shampoo were provided. We were a little dismayed to see the orange towels against the black tiles, as a cruel reminder of the terrible season for the SF Giants, but understand that it was not intentional !
On the positive side - the staff were kind enough to allow us to checkin upon our arrival at around 7am, so it was nice to shower after the red eye flight to get adjusted to the time change. And, we did not hear any street noise (we were in Room 311). The breakfast was simple but delicious – cheese and ham, cereal, yogurt, fruit salad, machine to make coffee to order, hot tea thermos, good variety of breads and jams and a few kinds of cookies.
On the down side – the wifi stopped working intermittently, probably due to being overloaded. It was also very hot during the day (and humid) so the room got hot even with the shutters …. The only cooling device was a fan; there was no air conditioning. I’m not sure how to cope during the summer as I’m sure the room would be unbearable; without screens on the window, keeping it open at night probably would not be a good option. At least the shutters filtered out the bugs.
There is a lift to all floors, although you’ll have to carry your luggage up about a half flight.
Reasonable price in the city within convenient walking distance of everything …

We stayed here for 2 weeks. We were lucky enough to get a room from 3rd floor with balcony with view over the city and sea.
Breakfast was basic, fresh bread and fruit salad, some cheeses etc.
Rooms could be cleaner but overall it was okay as well. The cleaner cleaned our room every day (except for the toilet which started to smell a bit after 2 weeks..).
Beds were almost rock hard, we asked if they have softer ones and they said no, but we saw different mattresses in the hallway when the cleaner was cleaning other rooms! (And they were softer.)
Unfortunately, few nights during our stay, there were staying some youngsters who were VERY loud, running aroud in the middle of the night. We called to reception as we were told to do (this was the second time similar group made too much noise), but the man in the reception desk did not understand ANY english so it was a bit annoying to put clothes on and go to the reception desk in the middle of the night and try to explain the situation by mimicking :( He understood my complaint face-to-face and told to the youngsters be silent.
There was also a bit noise from the traffic, but it didn't bother us too much.
Staff were friendly and very helpful, I just wish they all could speak some english, which was not the case this time.
After all, I can recommend this place if you're a budget traveller and you can stand occassional noise!

We spent 9 nights at this hotel in early March.
There is daily maid service and the rooms are spotless. The beds are comfortable.
The staff at the front desk and the staff in the breakfast room are very friendly.
It's true the walls are thin and you sometimes hear the t.v. in another room but we had no trouble sleeping because it was very quiet at night.
The view from the rooftop terrace is amazing .Table and chairs provided so you can sit and enjoy.
The breakfast was adequate. The bread delicious and the cheese very tasty.
We would not hesitate to book this hotel again in the future.

The hotel is 5min walk from the marina just keep going downhill you can't miss it.
In the marina is a place you can swim, easy access and no boats. It has some stuff for kids some pools and water slide.
The beaches are wonderful but mostly east of Ponta Delgada you can rent a car / bicycle by the marina or ask for Denis Correia (tour guide) at the hotel
he knows all the good spots
