Stayed here for 4 nights as part of a group tour. Worried by some of the reviews. It was fine. Decor and fittings a bit dated but the place was immaculately clean, the water was hot and the beds were comfortable. Easy walking distance from all attractions. At this price could not fault it
The folks at the front desk were excellent, to the point of the woman offering to drive my daughter (minor scooter accident) to a pharmacy in the rain. And, they organized breakfast for us early (6:30 am) so we could eat before going to the airport. The rooms and common areas are dated and a bit run down. All clean.
The room was fine and the amenities were okay; however, the location and the folks (from the front desk to the breakfast lounge) were superb. Loved the banter with the front desk folks. The added bonus was the late night bakery next door that was a popular landmark offering fabulous suspiros and bolos lêvedos.
The best I can say about this hotel is that it was adequate. The room was OK although the twin beds were small and not particularly comfortable. The wifi was good. The bathroom was quite dated and the shower curtain seemed incapable of containing the water where it should be. The toilet roll was mounted in a ridiculous place, almost inaccessible. The breakfast was quite good although the bread rolls could have been better, especially considering that there was a very good bakery right next door.
We booked double beds, but there were only poor quality small 1.00 x 1.80m single beds. The rooms were big and clean though. The shower was small but nice. An electric heater was available in the room and free WiFi was available. Don’t expect anything from the breakfast. There is bread and simple ham/cheese and jelly. The orange juice is not really juice, but more water with a flavor and the coffee is very poor quality. Personnel is great, very kind. They gave us free sparkling bubbles bottle and glasses in the room, because it was the 31st of December. Enough free private parking space for your rental car and you can get to the city center in 5-10 minutes. There was a nice bar with sports television and very cheap beers just opposite of the hotel. So the location is perfect.
