Detailed Reviews
We stay several days in The Nook Hostel and we enjoy a lot the simpaty of the staff, the hostel is in the middle of Ponta Delgada near of everything. The breakfast is good but could have more daily variety to be perfect.
In the hostel you have all the conditions to cook, wash and know other guests and cultures.

Amazing installations, the room had plently of space - recently refurbished - and amazing staff! The owner is very attentive and considerate and is always making sure the guests are well looked after. The location is very central and close to amazing restaurants.

I visited this week with a school group from the UK and we had sole occupancy which was great. The hostel is clean and very tidy and has a real charm about it. There is a lift which is excellent considering there are three floors and the location is just minutes from the main square by foot. Gonzales was the chap managing the hostel and he was simply great. He was cheerful at all times and was super helpful when we had lost something (and he helped us locate it!). The breakfast was a simple affair although I was a little concerned about the colour of the meat - fortunately I’m vegan so it didn’t impact on me and my students just kept away from it as it s brought out Day after day and getting gradually browned and browner. The top floor (where I stayed) was superb with a separate kitchen with fridge and washing machine too. It was a shame that that the shower cubicles leaked a little so the wooden floor outside the bathrooms was getting damaged. I do hope the can be fixed. I’d definitely visit again as it’s the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

The neighborhood is neither the cleanest nor the safest. Dressy sandals or flip flops not recommended. Keep backpacks and purses zipper side in and strapped to your body.
Noise level at night due to high traffic area, extreme
Guest demographic, young adults
No wifi connection - available only in the downstairs kitchen area. Signal is too weak to cover guest floors/rooms.
Laundry 12 € per load
Breakfast is bread, deli meat and cheese, cold cereal with shelf stable milk, yogurt, coffee, juice. Every day.
Clean linens and towels provided approximately once a week. Bring your own washcloths. Hairdryer that was provided is inoperable, bring your own. Toilet paper and paper towels are provided and well stocked.
Purchase air freshener to combat strong smell of urine from bathroom - it permeates the hall as the bathroom is unventilated.
Staff is not really knowledgeable about sights to see or transportation around the island; no pamphlets or guidebook available.
These accommodations are for the DIY person. The hostel is in a central location, near various restaurants and grocery stores. Walking distance to the port and mainline for bus service.

I believe it is the best place to stay in a whole Sao Miguel Island, close to the airport, in the center of the biggest city, which is very vivid during the weekend but extremely calm and silent during the week. A great position near all the restaurants, shops and bars, free parking place 3 min walk from a hostel. New, modern interior with functional kitchen, large bathrooms, all very clean. Nice breakfast and great american coffee. Everything was perfect. Best for solo travelers and group of friends.

We just loved The Nook Hostel. The Great location, the new and clean installations, all the accommodations at our disposal, breakfast, etc... and the will and kindness of people running this hostel which extend you experience on this utterly beautiful island of Azores. Couldn't recommend more!!!

Bare in mind this is a hostel. If want to dine champagne and caviar and room service, look elsewhere. It was a great location and the innkeepers were very friendly. Breakfast is basic but for the price you pay that is as much as you can expect, and they will go buy more to replace. You can buy food to bring in and cook but be mindful of smoke detectors. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms cleaned daily. The whole place is very familiar and provides great opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers. And although I travelled solo I always got company to explore the Island from the Hostel. And we went out for drinks most nights with innkeeper even tagging along at times. I strongly recommend, and will be back on future visits.
