This was my first trip to the Azores and I was so pleased that I managed to get a trip in before the lockdown. The hotel is located down a small side street. A taxi from the airport takes 10 minutes and costs next to nothing. As there’s no driving on the street where the hotel is, taxis will drop you at the end of the street. The hotel staff were very polite and check in was easy. My hotel room was immaculately clean with a comfy bed. The room had a safe, dressing gowns, fridge, kettle and a hairdryer (not particularly powerful though). Toiletries are provided and the shower was lovely. Breakfast was okay but nothing really exceptional. The hotel has a couple of little pools which I didn’t get a chance to try due to a issue with it but it would be a lovely way to cool down. Location of the hotel is brilliant. There are so many fantastic restaurants all within 10 minute walk. The hotel also provide you with a map so you can orientate yourself around the city. It’s worth marking up on there thing so like the farmers market and cafes. The taxi rank is only a 5 minute walk next to the port. I would not hesitate in returning and staying here again.…
Just stayed three night’s, great location, clean, very nice staff, got a free upgrade to s suite, little noise but not a problem, would stay there again. Breakfast was good not great, but was fine. I think a very good value for our type of traveling.
We stayed at this hotel for five nights in October. There was some initial confusion as my mom thought she had booked a room with the en suite kitchen and, in fact, the en suite kitchen was there, but it was locked behind doors. They said something about some regulations that were in place re: kitchenettes and I'm not sure if they had just recently had to close off the en suite kitchen, or if my mother had never booked it to begin with. Either way, just make sure if you want an en suite kitchen that it is clear whether you are getting one or not. The room we stayed in was really nice. Clean, spacious, great balcony (which we didn't really get the chance to use!), comfortable. The staff were friendly. Not exceptionally personable, but rather straightforward and effective at their jobs. The breakfast was typical of what you'd expect for a continental type breakfast -- fruit, juices, breads, cereals and I believe some hot items which we didn't eat as we are both vegan. They were nice to accommodate us and give us a non-dairy milk each morning. We lucked out and got a parking spot in their garage which was a huge bonus as I highly doubt you'd find spots on the street easily. I think because it wasn't peak season, we managed to get a spot. Driving up and down that street is a bit terrifying if you're not used to driving on narrow streets that have patio furniture and people dining on them. In addition, the ramps to get on to the cobbled streets are about a 75 degree angle which makes you feel that you may as well go up the curb! Regardless, having a parking spot was convenient. The location could not have been more perfect (for us, especially, as the two places that offer vegan options were literally <3 minutes from us!). Beyond that, the main square is two minutes away and everything in Ponta Delgada is very walkable from this point. The only downside to this location was the NOISE. I'm not talking just on the weekend, which I could understand if people are out having parties on the weekend, but even Sunday, Monday nights were so LOUD. It was almost as if our neighbours were yelling down from their balconies at their friends who were dining on the street. You are located right above a central location, but the noise travels and the people on the patios at night do not hold back. So, if you are sensitive to noise, this might not be the place for you -- or wear your earplugs!…
We stayed four nights at the Hotel Casa Hintze Ribeiro and it was perfect! We had a semi-private balocony room on the first floor (zero is ground) with a nicely stocked kitchenette allowing us to cook a meal or two to save a few bucks while there (although eating out was awesome too). Staff is very friendly and helpful, and the little cafe has extremely affordable lunch if you want something quick. Pork sandwich with chips and a beer for roughly 10 euro. The rooftop pool was never crowded and nice for a dip after a long day of hiking and site-seeing around the island. Very close to the waterfront and city center and a nice walk to the military museum or shopping mall (if you're in to that). Free parking on site but as mentioned in other reviews, a bit tricky. Free parking after 3 pm on Saturday and all day Sunday two blocks away.…
This hotel is located close to the main square and within walking distance to the yellow bus, public transportation, restaurants, shops and cafes. Very friendly and helpful staff at front desk. Efficient checkin. Requested a late checkout and got it without any problem. Very large apartment, including a good size bedroom and sitting room. Separate toilet and shower. Lots of hot water and good water pressure. Could use a bit more light over the sink though. Very good light levels. Safe and TV in room. Small kitchen and fridge with minibar. Swimming pool and wading pool on 2nd floor and gym with hot tub and sauna on first floor. Good breakfast with very friendly attendants. Parking next door (underground, did not use). Major concern is the street noise. Even if this is a side street, the restaurants and bars are open till early in the morning and people seemed very, very happy. Even with the windows closed, it was a major nuisance. Overall a very good experience. Will catch up on my sleep on the flight back home. Highly recommended.…
