My wife and I always eat their on her birthday for dinner. We've eaten there several times, we were never disappointed. Indoor or outdoor made no difference where we dined. The food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. The Arcada restaurant deserves two Michelin stars, not one. Also, this place is extremely romantic.

With a beautiful, quiet setting, excellent restaurant, many cozy public rooms, indoor and outdoor pool, golf course and a spa, it was hard to leave the hotel. it is a nice easy walk across the pedestrian bridge and along the river to the old town. Dinner was first rate -not inexpensive, but elegant and high quality food - and breakfast...

Have just spent three days here. Wonderful facilities, gardens and staff. Our room was in the palace itself and extremely comfortable. With sterling in its current weak state meal costs were prohibitive in the hotel but breakfast was excellent. Outside pool was useable as weather had just improved but it took far too long to get a poolside drink.

135 euros a night for a very large and historic room in a former palace set in a beautiful park, a good breakfast and parking included, is not what I'd call expensive - perhaps others paid rack rate somehow. Certainly there are cheaper offers in Coimbra but it would be hard to match the character, comfort and quietness of this...

History and legend embedded together in this magical place. Special and romantic, fabulous quiet location. Would benefit from a maintenance boost, but overall a great value. The hotel surroundings are nothing short but amazing. We walked to Coimbra old town, crossing the river from the hotel, which was a great walk by itself- recommended.

Quintas das Lagrimas is a beautiful old hotel with a modern conversion that contains additional rooms, spa, meeting rooms and a breakfast area. We stayed in the older building and our room was spacious and sympatheically decorated and had lovely high-quality linens. The bathroom needs updating, especially the pointless hair dryer, but overall it was functional. Had we been staying...

This hotel is expensive for Portugal, and I'm not quite sure that it is value for money. However my wife was interested in the Spa, and so we chose a room which was in the Spa extension. The room was fine with a delightful outlook over the gardens which had apparently been in place since 14th century, and had a...

This is a grand, historical, and classically designed & furnished hotel. It is certainly not for those with a modern aesthetic. It is perfect for a romantic getaway with a spa, golf course, well maintained gardens, a small art museum, and a Michelin-starred restaurant on the premises. We stayed here for one night, over Easter weekend, and were upgraded to...

I do not like classica "luxury" hotels, i am more a practical modern guy, but i must say "Quinta das Lagrimas" hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very helpful and truly empathic staff, nice breakfast, astonishing rooms, a museum inside and a whole lecture of Portuguese history in honor of Queen Ines and her tragic love story. For couples, it is...

This hotel is in a grand old home and needs some major help. It was billed as a Relais with a one-star Michelin restaurant. First, the hotel. It's dark with a strange lay-out. The room was large but filled with too much old furniture and bad lighting. Our dinner at their restaurant was terrible. The staff, particularly the wine steward,...
