Very nice and newly refurbished hotel, close to everthing. Great local to reach by foot almost any sightseeing in Lisboa. Close to the famous placa do Comercio y to the pedestrian area. Had a nice roof room with a view to the castle. In 10 min by foot you can reach the railway station to catch the Estoril-Cascais train. A...

Nice room (although a bit smallish, like elsewhere in Europe), comfortable bed, quiet. Good value for the standard and location. It's a short walk from here to "everywhere". The area feels safe, even late in the evening. Unless you need a big meal to start your day, don't eat breakfast at the hotel, but opt for a pastry in one...

Stayed here for four nights and loved everything about this hotel. Firstly it is in a fantastic location. Lisbon is such a large, spread out city and it doesnt really feel as though it has a centre as such. However this hotel seems to be close to everything and is just a minutes walk from the lovely waterfront. We arrived...

The hotel is well situated, close to transportation to tourist sites and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable, if not overly large. The beds are comfortable and so are the pillows. Large, attractive bathroom and shower (no tub). Plenty of lighting, if you can figure out the technology. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the end of March 2012 at the Baixa. We found this was an ideal location for exploring Lisbon, near to the metro and trams just around the corner, especially the legendary 28. About a 20 min walk to the Fado quarter which is a pleasant walk back at night and we felt safe around the hotel. Wise...

The pictures are true to the room(No surprises), rooms are small, but clean, and true photo decor. The beds were comfortable and firm, which I like. No clock; TV is not in a good position, poor view if your laying in the bed; walls are thin; staff was accommodating. Near public transportation. I loved the location, if you like history you...

Positive: (i) Very good location – you are in the middle of Baixa area so you have a lot of restaurants, main sites to see and mains shops. Almost everything is within a walking distance and there are plenty of trams, taxis, metro and buses nearby so you can get to the more remote places like Jardim Zoologico. Area is...

We stayed here for a long weekend with another couple. Location is very central - with level access to shops, trams, stations, etc (this was important as one of our friends has limited mobility). Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
