I've been to many hostels, espeacially in Europe, and this is for sure the best one, on every single aspect of it. What to start with? With the staff, for sure. All of them are amazingly nice, always trying to help and participating in some of the many different events they make (pub crawl, travel to the beach, to sintra,...

Comfortable beds and big and clean facilities. Very nice bar and living room to hang out and meet people. But the biggest plus is Mama's Dinner. Super delicious home cooked portugese food, cooked by the owner of the hostel. Only major downside: The pub crawl. I did participate at a lot of pub crawls in north america where you always...

They don't call it Lisbon home for nothing. Mama, a nice older Portuguese woman, makes incredible dinners every night. Basically all you can drink and eat for 10 euros, more than fair and a fun way to socialize with other guests. The entire staff is nice and will go out of their way to assist you in any way they...

I've just left Home Lisbon Hostel after a 2 night stay. It's my first experience of a hostel in Europe and, so far, the best. The location is in the heart of the Baixa district which is the historical centre of Lisbon. Cafes, restaurants, shopping and sights are literally on the hostel's doorstep. From the moment I arrived I was...

The best hostel I've ever stayed in - all the reviews are not a lie! Awesome people to meet here, great common areas, and Mama's dinner is a must. A perfect vibe that you immediately wish all hostels had. Clean and great location. Walking tours are awesome (especially Ana) and the staff is happy to suggest cool day trips.

Follow all the other reviewers - stay here if you can! Pros: Location, facilities, but most importantly STAFF and ACTIVITIES. I've stayed in quite a few hostels and more than any other, this made me feel welcomed, included and it felt like everyone here was friendly and respectable. They have activities almost 24/7 if you want to participate, and everyone...

I recently stayed at home hostel for four nights. Wow! What a cool hostel. I have stayed in a fair few over Europe and this was the best bar none. The staff are super friendly and genuinely interested in you not just about how much you may be willing to spend at the bar for example (unlike some places). Perhaps...

This place is very highly rated and for good reason. Excellent location to explore Lisbon on foot, and convenient to every mode of public transportation imaginable. The property is kept spotlessly clean and is very well maintained overall. You won't find filthy old stained couches and beat up facilities here like you do in so many other hostels. Family owned...

Home Lisbon was my final stop after 6 months in Europe. Great location with comfortable beds and curtains for privacy. Top notch nightly dinners for 10Euro and one of best included hostel breakfasts I've had Nice bar with food and snacks. Very cozy sitting room and a wonderful stafff especially Deborah who plays great 60's music; Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Cream,...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
