2022 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
At 1908 we welcome people from all over the world, we are hotel, restaurant and bar, but we are also an art gallery permanently evolving. While Art Nouveau shines in all its splendour outside in the building facade, inside its references are only in the works of art. Featuring pieces by contemporary Portuguese artists who were invited to reinterpret the building and help bring it to the our days.

1908 Lisboa is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. For starters, the room and bed were incredibly comfortable. The air conditioner is highly effective and almost completely silent and the hot water comes fast. My mom and I shared a room and although it was small, it was perfect for our needs. I really liked the location as well. It was very quiet at night even though our room faced the main road and the shutters on the windows blocked out all of the light at night. We did have to walk a bit to get to the main amenities in Baixa but the hotel is also right next to a metro station and tram stop, both of which we used to move about the city. For us, being a short walk from the main area was worth it for a quieter experience at night. The staff here are wonderful. We never saw any of the cleaning service but our room was magically clean when we returned. Any requests we had were handled promptly and the welcome gift of cherry liquor and pastel da nata were a lovely touch. The included breakfast was fantastic and we also dined at Infame for dinner several nights. The food is amazing. Usually we had a late lunch in the city, so having access to the restaurant in the same building was great for a small dinner later in the evening. I highly recommend staying in 1908 Lisboa for your trip in the city.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is unique. The location is good, with a short walk down to the major tourist parts of the city. I had the experience of basically staying here three different times over a week, as I saw Lisbon and went to Porto and the Algarve. Staff was fantastic. I had a different room each time, each unique. I would definitely say this a boutique hotel. Each individual stay I had a couple pasteis and a couple servings of cherry liqueur delivered. I would certainly return to this hotel next time I am in Lisbon.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience that I had at 1908 Lisboa Hotel. Not only immaculate hotel rooms in an architecturally interesting building but extra amenities that went along with it...the Welcome Cocktail, the little pastries and liqueur waiting in the room. As for the breakfast, I have never had such a comprehensive, included in the price hotel breakfast in my travel experience and I travel a lot! As for the staff they were a "ten out of ten". The wait staff in the dining room, the bar, and the reception. The reception staff, in particular, went above and beyond in helping me solve an airline issue. Sofia was gracious and reassuring and worked hard on the issue. The night manager made sure I got a taxi early in the morning and provided a breakfast box to take with me. Absolutely a wonderful travel experience

Truly beautiful hotel in a lovely part of town and only a 10 minute walk to the center of Lisboa. We booked a superior room which overlooked a courtyard. The room was large, bed was very comfortable and the balcony was great. From the outside the hotel looks amazing and the inside is just as nice. The buffet breakfast was awesome with many cold dishes and hot items made to order. The ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful and even helped us make a beauty salon appointment for my wife. The bar is hip and has a cool vibe. There is also an outstanding seafood restaurant Ramiro’s right across the street but reservations are a must. Thank you for an amazing time hotel 1908.

We booked this hotel to spend the night before flying back to the US. What a great hotel. Wonderful location with a truly unique decor. Our room was spacious with an incredible bathroom (enclosed in glass within the room but with a curtain for privacy) with all amenities. Great lighting and storage and very comfortable bed. The front desk staff were very friendly and arranged transport to the airport and gave suggestions for what to see in Lisbon. Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. Would absolutely stay there again if we return to Lisbon

I loved everything at 1908 Lisboa Hotel! The attention to every detail in the room, especially in the bathroom (nice beauty amenities!) and the welcome with special Portuguese treats. I appreciated a lot the cleaning everywhere, also outside the rooms (in corridors, at the bar, in the entrance etc..) and the good smell through all the spaces. Amazing breakfast, very good food sweet and salty typical dishes. A cozy and warm place to feel at home and well connected to everything in the centre of the city!100% recommended!

We chose the 1908 Lisboa Hotel based on online reviews and travel articles and stayed there four nights in September. We were not disappointed! This was our first visit to Lisbon and the hotel location enabled us to to reach most destinations with a moderate walk. Since it is close to the Indente Metro, we could easily get to and from the airport. The building has been recently renovated and the rooms were clean, well designed and comfortable. The entry level restaurant is welcoming and breakfast there each morning had a large variety of quality food options. Above all, the staff was professional and friendly. They helped us with all our needs and as a result we had plenty of time to explore and enjoy the city. We will definitely stay again when we return to Lisbon!

We’ve just had a lovely 4 night stay at the 1908 hotel, and I couldn’t recommend it more. The building has a beautiful Art Nouveau style, which has been renovated and decorated in a quirky way that really works. The room we stayed in wasn’t enormous, but was very well laid out and comfortable, with a good sized bathroom. The hotel restaurant served a really nice buffet breakfast and does great food in the evenings. A lovely touch on our first night was the pastéis de nata and liqueur that was left in our room. The staff are all really helpful, and provided useful tips for places to go and links to transport maps etc. The historic 28 tram goes right along the road outside, and it’s only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town with lots of cafes and restaurants. There’s also the Ramiro seafood restaurant just across the road. All in all, a lovely stay at a great hotel.

Loved staying here on our first trip to Lisbon. The hotel is elegant as well as very modern and chic. Great design and style without going overboard. Very good layout on the main level for the bar and separate restaurant. Outdoor patio was always full and buzzing. Check-in was very pleasant. Our room, the Top of the Dome, was spacious and stylish, with great views and windows. Excellent shower and comfortable bed and pillows. Perfectly clean. Breakfast is sensational. Lavish buffet of breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, breads, juices, coffee, etc., plus a separate 8-item menu for eggs, omlettes, bacon and other dishes you could order hot and whihc is also included in the free breakfast. The space is bright and very well-designed with excdllent service. All in all, we highly recommend the 1907 Lisboa. Now for some caveats: We were a little worried driving in from the airport at all the graffiti and less-than-spiffy surroundings. This is an emerging neighborhood, one above the more gentrified sections of Lisbon we were expecting. Clearly the LIsboa is an anchor of this revival, and it adds a nice flavor to the visit. There are tram stops right outside the door, and even a walk to the center is only 8-12 minutes -- much quicker than it may look. The tram heading north from the hotel takes a nice circuitous route around the city and gives a good grounding. We night have enjoyed staying in the center a little more, and to have the action and sites right at our doorstep, but we love the architecture and style of this kind of hotel. We highly recommend it.
