Very small rooms but perfectly functional, good for short stays. The breakfast is light Portugese, the pastel de nata delicious. Location very convenient for a large number of good value restaurants. Our shower was a bit wonky, spraying from the base. Find the Rom Room and the deck, both lovely places to sit. Wifi okay it pushes you off, you...

Staff not responsive, rude and does not even try to solve any issue. They can clean the room at any time, so you can be back at your room at two in the afternoon and room is buisy for the cleaning. Check in is rigourously at 3 pm. On lift you always share the room with some staff carrying a...

The room si very small, the television is set in an awkward angle to the bed, absolutely no closets to put your clothes, no place to hang trousers. No mirror in the bathroom. The price is extremely high, but no luxury and no toiletries. Only positive thing is good coffee in the morning and fresh bread for breakfast. I would...

Pros: fantastic location with great quirky design. Friendly reception staff. Very clean. We had a suite which had a lovely view of the castle and the Elevator and was spacious with a seating area. Wi fi is good. Cons: oh dear, design over practicality. Surely a room designed by men for men? No thought whatsoever for ladies, nowhere to put...

This is sited just north of Rossio Square in the Restauradores area. I have stayed at the Gat in Berlin and this follows a similar format where simple yet quirky rooms are available with a buffet style breakfast. You get free WiFi and the rooms have en-suite facilities – although some can be rather small even in the ‘better’ rooms....

First the negatives....The rooms are very small and sparse. The Wifi was a little odd and forced you to get into Facebook; I just gave up after trying to make it work. The great news is that the Hotel is clean, modern, and in a great location in Lisbon. The Staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was your typical...

First of all, the room I had was probably the least functional room I have ever stayed in. Don't get me wrong, I'm used to stay in very small single room, I have travelled across Europe many times and I have always chose small cheap single rooms without any problems. - The sink is not in the bathroom and it's...

Stayed here for two nights in a standard double room in September. Boy. was it busy! The room was quite small and sparsely furnished but matched the internet description perfectly so couldn't complain and didn't need to, it fitted our requirements for a couple of nights perfectly. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable but for those of us...

I've done other budget stays at various places and what you get for your money here is great. It's clean and while the rooms are very tiny they fit any needs I had (especially as a scared first time solo traveler). The hotel is very modern and cute and the staff is very friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
