Charming small hotel with big amenities. Loved the huge bed and super soft linens. This is little sister to Browns Hotel around the corner. We preferred this one. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Location so perfect in Baixo Chiado!

The hotel is located right in the centre of town, close to the metro and shopping and restaurants. You can walk everywhere from the hotel and have a view of the St George castle from the balcony. The room itself is small but modern and clean with a funky decor. Definitely make sure you are comfortable with who you are...

We stayed recently at Brown’s Central Hotel, had a great time and re-booked it for another recent visit to Lisbon. Unfortunately on arrival they told us the hotel was overbooked and moved us round the corner to their partner hotel called Browns Boutique Rooms. The decor and theme is pretty much the same and the actual room was fine. However...

Service was great, but the condition of the room left much to be desired from a very basic standpoint. Check-in went smoothly and both guys at the Front Desk and managing the restaurant were very helpful. However, I had so many problems with room 406 that I eventually had to be transferred at midnight to a sister property a block...

The location is great, just off the main drag in central Lisbon, and steps away from the metro. My room was tiny (there were about 30 cms on each side of the bed and that was it), with no windows, more like an overdecorated box than a real room. Lots of gurgling water noise behind the wall, probably the pipes...

It was our 25th anniversary and we travelled to Lisbon. The hotel staff were so helpful. They decorated our bed with rose pedals and left us champagne. The beds are so comfortable. The rooms are clean and the hotel is perfectly located in the Braxia area a few minute walk to everything. The breakfast is awesome - fresh fruit and...

I stayed in one of the larger rooms (#102) that had a small kitchen area. On the whole, I loved the room - Nespresso (big plus), great size (28 sq m according to Web site, and it felt it), lots of space to spread stuff out in and on, bed was huge and very comfy. But, the room lacked the...

The staff on reception were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. The hotel was very well located within easy walking distance of major attractions and transport. Very close to the metro station so convenient to reach the airport or Oriente train station. Our room had a small kitchen which we didn't actually use but would be useful if we...

We came to Lisbon for a week away and decided to stay at Brown's. The room was spacious, with a 2 ring electric hob, TV (with DVD player!), fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker and even a washing machine! Even though we were only on the 1st floor, just above the burger bar attached to the hotel, you couldn't hear (or...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
