My son and I had the good fortune to book a small suite at the Aveniada Palace for a short visit to Lisbon. I can't say enough about the impressive staff and "old school" atmosphere/tradition of this property. Location was important to us and this was perfect for our trip. Easy access to excellent restaurants, sights, shopping, etc. We couldn't have been happier.
We recently spent 5 days at the Avenida Palace and it was a joy from the time we arrived till the time we left. Our room on the 6th floor was quite large and extremely quiet during the day and at night. The only sound we heard at all was the gentle rumble of trains going under the building, which was actually kind of relaxing, like a distant rumble of thunder. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was big, and -- unlike many older hotels -- there were plenty of outlets, including on both sides of the bed. The Wifi was fast and reliable. The room was absolutely impeccably clean. All the staff was friendly, especially the hostess at the breakfast buffet. Speaking of breakfast, it was a great way to start the morning each day with a huge choice of tasty food. The fruit, bread and pastries, and juices were especially good. Servers were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It was our first time in Lisbon and the location is perfect for exploring the city. The old part of town is nearby, though up a steep hill and/or set of stairs, like everything else in Lisbon. Lots of shops and cafes nearby, including a couple of pharmacies and a supermarket. The train station and a Metro station are at the hotel's doorstep. We were there during the terrible heatwave, and the A/C struggled a bit to keep things as cool as we would've liked, but when it's 103 degrees in a city that's not designed for that kind of heat, you can't blame the hotel! If it had been a more reasonable 93 I expect the A/C would've been perfectly fine. We walked most places we went, though when we got too hot or just didn't want to deal with the hills, we took an Uber and I think the most expensive ride anywhere we went was less than €7. As nice little touches, one day the hotel left us a reusable cloth shopping back to take with us during our travels, and another day they left a folding fan that we took with us out and about. They provide a cellphone to borrow during your stay so you don't have to get a local SIM card or whatever, but we didn't use it. Finally, our Lisbon trip was at the end of a longer European visit, so we took advantage of the hotel's laundry service. It was very cheap for a luxury hotel in a world capital. We had a whole bag of t-shirts and socks washed, dried, and folded for a total of about €28. We left them in the room when we went out for the day around 10am and they came back around 4pm the same day, folded immaculately in a nice wicker basket and smelling fresh. We will definitely stay at the Avenida Palace the next time we are in Lisbon. It's a perfect home base for exploring a magnificent city.…
Traditional European hotel 5 star , great location, and exceptional service. Rooms are well appointed, style luxury with modern convivences, free cell phone for tourist with apps to help navigate around Lisbon city center.
This truly is a magical place. From the concierge, to the front desk, house keeping, to the restaurant staff, everyone was so kind. The breakfast was amazing (beans, soft scrambled eggs, sausage, cold cuts, bacon, quiche, cold pressed juice, coffee, capuchins, made to order eggs, crepe, pancakes, dessert, etc). Very centrally located and 15-20 min to airport (25 Euro Taxi, 15 Euro Uber). Walkable to most sites. The staff was so kind to squeeze me in for another day as my flight was delayed and extend my day. Very close to restaurants and cultural sites. Obrigado.
Excellent hotel that gives old world attention and service. Truly a Grand Hotel of a bygone era. Highly recommended if visiting Lisbon. The attention to detail was impressive. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks
The hotel offers a huge, quality breakfast spread included in the price, and this will fuel you to take on the hills of Lisbon. The staff is friendly, the rooms are spacious, and public transportation is right around the corner. Walking five minutes in any direction, you'll find roof top bars, Ginjinha joints, and restaurants whose food selections span the world's cuisine.
This hotel is located in the heart of Lisbon, couldn't be a better location. The staff is incredible, they deserve 6 stars themselves. Rooms are large for European hotels, not great insulation but we used a white noise generator to block noise in the evening. Great breakfast buffet. Very close to hundreds of bars and restaurants. When we return to Lisbon there's no question where we'll be staying!
Wonderful hotel to stay when your visiting Lisbon. The location is wonderful as it is close to bars, restaurants, train station and shops. The staff are attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. They pay attention to every little detail and this definitely made our visit special. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable and the relaxation areas in the hotel are quite magnificent. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.
We stayed at the Avenida Palace for the third time in about a year. When you return to the same hotel again, it is certain that the previous visit was at least successful. Every visit has been an experience for us. The friendliness of the staff is excellent and the hotel is located in an excellent location. An old traditional hotel always has its own atmosphere.
Really nice hotel in brilliant location. Hotel is old style but very nicely done. Breakfast is absolutely superb...one of the best in all our many years traveling. Private car parking available which is rare in this center city location. Nice bar and piano in lobby which had some nice recitals. Food in bar is minimal but the one night we sampled it, it was very good. Staff are excellent and very friendly. A little pricey but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
