The hotel is fabulous, but what makes it exceptional is the truly friendly staff, who always welcome guests with genuine smiles and treat everyone with kindness. We would especially like to thank Vania at the reception desk for her outstanding professionalism and her friendliness. She makes us feel what we are visiting good friends in Lisbon, and every time we stay here we feel right at home. Great breakfast, with a broad selection. All the hotel rooms are tastefully decorated, but the room that steals the show is the top floor library lounge, featuring an amazing veranda with spectacular views over the Tagus. Definitely recommended!!!
All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, from the reception, to the breakfast waitress to the maintenance man. My room was on the 1st floor and we requested a room at the back of the hotel due to the noise of the cars on the cobbled street outside the hotel. Library and balcony with views over the bay on the 3rd floor. No complementary bottles of water in the room. A daily necessity for tourists during the hot months. A small bottle of water costs only a few cents and the lack of it is a serious failing. When I raised the matter with the reception I was told I could take 2 bottles for free, which are normally paid for, from drinks table near the lounge. The WiFi was very poor and my wife had I frequntly could not open web pages on our computers.
My husband booked this hotel in Lisbon as a 5 day break for my 60th Birthday and what a find, The staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room had been upgraded to a suite and was nice and spacious, with a lovely huge comfy bed. The breakfast choice was amazing with a great choice of fresh produce and hot dishes. As a surprise Geoff had arranged a Birthday Cake with Portuguese Sparkling wine (Champagne) and balloons, the staff had laid it all out for us in the Library and sang Happy Birthday a lovely touch. The balcony outside the library was a lovely sun trap with good views of the river, there was also a lovely courtyard which we had breakfast at one morning, a little chilly in early March for breakfast but in the afternoon a lovely spot for a drink with complimentary cookies. They also had a honesty bar which was really handy, with a good variety of beverages and snacks. Our whole stay here at the 'As Jenelas Verdes' was really great a 2 minute stroll to the tram and bus stop with easy access to the centre. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again if ever returning to Lisbon. Many thanks to all the staff for such a lovely stay.…
This is a lovely hotel, from the moment I booked it after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor I knew I had made the right choice. It is no accident that the vast majority of reviews indicate at rating of excellent. This hotel is indeed excellent with lovely decor, superb staff and a welcoming atmosphere. It is near the old docks about a 20-25 minute walk to the centre of town and roughly the same distance walk to Belham where the Palacio de Belham resides. Public transport is frequent and relatively inexpensive as indeed was the hotel which was great value for money. There are many good eating places within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Whilst we we there we had no trouble getting a table at restaurants but as most of them are small I would suggest booking in advance during busier seasons. The staff at the hotel are lovely, really helpful and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. I would definitely return here in the future.…
Situated just above the old docks (now becoming trendy) this first seemed a questionably appetising prospect. But rising a few streets above the docks brings you to the quiet cobbled streets of 18th and 19th century Lisbon in what turns out to be the diplomatic quarter of the city. There are traditional and trendy cafes, tiny squares and gardens and huge basilicas within a few minutes walk around the hotel. The museum of ancient are is almost next door and the marionette museum a couple of hundred metres away. It is about 20 minutes walk to the central city areas. The hotel itself is a delight. It is comfortable everywhere, furnished with (mainly faux but nice) antiques and our room - a mini suite on the 2nd floor with huge views over the harbour was spacious and comfortable. There was a little kitchen in ours, but regardless you can make tea and coffee and snacks in the ground floor dining area and spectacularly in the top floor library where everyone can enjoy the huge balcony views. There is a self service honesty bar too. Staff are friendly and helpful, lending us forgotten cables for phone charging and in my case a toothbrush. It is pretty quiet, through the night you can just hear the throb of a nightclub on the shorefront and the trains pass by, but its mere background hum. Breakfast is a decent buffet with all the usual plus fresh orange juice and fresh fruit and a capsule expresso maker This is a lovely place, one of the nicest hotels i've stayed and we'd go back there in a trice.…
