For my first ever hostel stay, I have to say, I was quite suprised by this place. It was fine for us and was just what we needed! No luxury and far from it but all the essentials provided. I stayed with a large group (25 people?) and we were all allocated shared rooms (4-6 per dorm single sex rooms)....

Really nice open plan living area that changes with the people as the day flows into night. Off the main room is a second movie room. Kitchen area and outside terraces. Ricardo and Dario were the guys running the show while I stayed. Cool guys knowledgeable on the city and patient with their time.

Great location! In the middle of everything while still being in a quiet street. Staff was very chill, very accomodating. Breakfast was buffet style - toast, rolls, spreads, coffee, tea, cereal and fruit. Nothing fancy but fills you up. Rolls, butter and coffee/tea available all day. Rooms/bathrooms were nice and clean - got a room with fantastic city views! Never...

Maybe the best youth hostel in which I have stayed in. The rooms are spacious, the common areas are pleasant and well-maintened. The staff is also very friendly and they provide a nice atmosphere to the hostel. You couldn't fine better for the price.

I was staying with other friends and everyone loved in there. It was a lovely Hostel, nice staff, great beds and a really great shower! I changed rooms from the 6 to the 12 people and both were great. The Hostel has a great location, is close to most of the main attractions and is also close to the metro...

We stayed in this hostel 4 nights and had a nice time. The best thing are the people at the front desk, they are really helpful and provided us all the information regarding tours, location and restaurants ( there is a free tour in downtown so you can ask for it at your check in). The rooms are clean and...

Had to climb up a huge hill to reach the place, then climb up a huge set of stairs with my luggage just to get to reception. The receptionist told me she was busy as many check ins had arrived at once so please wait in the foyer. The common area had no atmosphere, there was hardly anyone around, and...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.

“I would stay only in the 12 or 14 people because is in the ground floor and it was hotter (it was winter the time I was there).”

“Room security is good, bathroom is clean and spacious (ladies). Fruits, coffee and tea were provided foc daily. Breakfast offered was cereals, fruits, bread, milk, coffee, tea, cocoa etc. Hair dryer is available without charging a deposit. Be physically and mentally prepared (especially for those carrying large and heavy luggage) as you will need to walk up a steep slope getting to the hostel if you are coming from the direction of Palacio Froz / Hard Rock Cafe Lisbon.”
