This hotel is located one block from the metro. It has a very modern vibe and a restaurant on site. The breakfast was an additional cost of €10 per person per day and it was worth every penny. They have a very large selection of everything and you can even ask to have an omelette made for you if you do not want the scrambled eggs or the poached eggs that are available in the buffet. There is a bar in the lobby. The bartender was very nice very attentive and the drinks are OK and reasonably priced. The light shows at 10 o’clock. Every night is very cool and different thing to have for your stay. The front desk staff are all very helpful, very attentive and very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and they had all the modern accommodations you need for charging your phone, etc..
They also let you know that if you hang the sign on your door every day not to clean your room they give you a five dollar incentive per day that you can use at the bar or restaurant but just know you cannot use it toward your breakfast and you cannot accumulate Your vouchers and use them all at once on your last day. It is one voucher per bill so if you go to the bar and order two drinks, you can only use one $5 voucher and we did not know that so we tried to use all of our vouchers on our last day at the bar and it didn’t work out as we thought but overall this hotel is a great experience and a great value they do have restaurants walkable distance, but you have to look for them. It is in a quieter part of town that I would definitely return. The hospitality is very goodeverybody from the front desk to the servers in the restaurant. Do a good job.

This hotel is a true hidden gem in Lisbon. It was newly built only a couple of years ago, rooms are very clean and modern and other fascilties are in perfect shape. Location is not far from airport or tourist attractions. While public transportation is just around the corner, we used taxis from Bolt App to every major attraction of Lisbon, and fare was under €5.
Also public transport is just around the corner and the supermarket is in 5 min walking distance. We even took Bolt taxi to Belem(€8) or Pena Palace (€18)as the hotel is not far from major highway access. Taxi all the way to the entrance of Pena palace in Sintra made the day trip very simple and convenient.

Light Show was amazing and fantastic every night. It was a very unique experience to watch it from the show view window or balconies of the room or restaurant.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and I would recommend including it. Hotel also gives €5 voucher per day if you opt out room cleaning. On some day you can skip cleaning and use voucher at bar or restaurant.

The customer base seemed mixed with individual and group, and I have also noticed a good mix of young and senior travelers.

Every employee from housekeeping to manager is very friendly and helpful. They always respond fast with smile for any requests. I have seen workers doing their job with the attitude displaying as if the hotel was their own business.

Lumen Hotel was a perfect choice for my 5 night stay. It was a pieceful place I could relax after heavy sightseeing days and its location also allowed me go out evenings easily after some rest... Hotel staff take well care of the guests.

I will definitely stay there next time in Lisbon.

Tips: On a day planning to experience Gloria Elevator Tram 28, get Viva Viagem 24hr pass (€6.80) from Picoas metro station next to Lumen. You will hop on and off on nostalgic Tram covering major attractions.

Tips: TV has a Chromecast that allows you to watch your own youtube or movies on TV. Also it has very nice Portuguese music video channels including Fado (Chanel69 at 9 pm daily).

After several private visits from Lisbon, we were now drawn here again.
At the “Lumen Hotel & The Lisbon Light Show” we were warmly and courteously welcomed upon our arrival. Check-in was quick and professional. The rooms, such as restaurant, breakfast room, bar and patio - in which the light show over Lisbon is shown in the evening - were explained to us in detail. With our room card, the elevator had to be operated so that no unauthorized person could reach the rooms. We were wished a nice stay in Lisbon and our luggage was then brought to our room. Once in the room, we were presented with a plate of freshly prepared fruit as a welcome greeting.
The room overlooking the patio was spacious with an opulent bed 2.20 meters wide and a very comfortable height, which resulted from the thickness of the mattress. Somewhat unpleasant for us was that the large duvet was not individual for each person, but had to be shared with his partner at night. That the duvet then moved back and forth, we found somewhat disturbing.
A window front extended the entire width of the room. So it was possible to watch the light show from the room.
There were connections for all kinds of communication devices. An in-room tablet explained the hotel's functions. The TV set could be controlled via it, a connection to the reception could be created and the like.
The spacious bathroom not only had a sink with cold and hot water. The walk-in shower had a hand shower as well as a huge rain shower. The lighting of the room took some getting used to. All possible lighting fixtures could be switched separately or together.
For breakfast we were overwhelmed by the size and offer on the breakfast buffet. There was something for everyone here. There was something for every kind of preference of guests. On the buffet, the food was served on not too large plates, so that they were emptied quickly and immediately new plates with fresh supplies were handed in and did not become unsightly.
Attentive service staff fulfilled all wishes with the hot drinks and unobtrusively cleaned up used dishes in between. You could then recreate something on fresh plates.

So far everything was fine. Only the area around the hotel was stocked with many construction sites until then. As a result, pavements and sidewalks were often very uneven and difficult to walk on. However, since work was only carried out on the construction sites during the day, this did not bother much. Bus and train connections are relatively quickly accessible. It's about 400 meters to the subway. At the reception of the hotel, you will be glad to receive advice on public transport in Lisbon.

We spent a lovely and eventful week here at this excellent hotel and can only recommend it.

Hotel is about a five minute walk from Parque Eduardo VII which is the central hub where the main sightseeing buses park. We hadn’t realised how close it would be to the centre.
All staff are exceptional, helpful and efficient, particularly the restaurant staff at the breakfast buffet. We’ve travelled extensively and have never received such a great breakfast experience, even at 5 star hotels. Everything is replenished quickly and the crockery wasn’t your regular hotel restaurant standard, but gorgeous earthenware dishes and stylish glasses for juice.
Our room overlooked the courtyard where the light show was shown every evening. I wasn’t expecting the light show to be as incredible as it was-I’d definitely recommend it.
The room itself was really well-considered. Plenty of phone charging points which were also on each side of the bed and mirrors and plug sockets perfectly positioned for drying/straightening hair etc. (Always find that these aren’t well thought out in most other hotels I’ve stayed at.)
Toiletries in bathroom included shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Great bar prices -if you don’t want your room cleaned, you get a 5€ voucher to use at the bar.
Use Bolt or Uber to get around-so cheap to use and great service.

If it were an option, I'd rate 4.5. Giving them benefit of the doubt. We stayed there two consecutive weekends (breaking up our visit to Portugal mid-week with a visit to the Algarve). Reserved 2 adjoining rooms for 2 couples.

POSITIVES:
-We liked the location. It is slightly out of the crowded touristy areas (such as Baixa). If you don't know Lisbon, it's sort of a half-bowl, with the lowest points by the river being the most touristy. The Lumen location is a bit uphill, out of the crowds, but walkable downhill to some of the more popular attractions in 20-30 mins. Ubers are cheap in Lisbon for a ride back up the hill if so desired. That said, there are also restaurants, markets, etc., in good proximity to Lumen.
-Rooms are very large and clean (for the most part...see negatives below).
-King beds are larger than US king beds.
-Front desk staff are very friendly and accommodating. One young lady went out of her way to provide some sightseeing advice.
-Comes at a cost, but the breakfast buffet is very good. There are savings to be had if you skip maid service (5 Euro/day voucher for restaurant or bar).

NEGATIVES:
-Our first weekend, we stayed in room 425, which was close to impeccable. Second weekend, we stayed in 325, which was less so. The room was clean, but the walls were dirty (esp in the bathroom), the grout looked like it could use a good scrubbing, bathroom trash can was rusty. Basically, the room badly needed a refresh.
-Lighting is frustrating and not intuitive. Many buttons to push and a need to read the fine print on each. Not sure we ever got the hang of it after 4 days.
-Service in the lobby bar is a bit hit or miss. Staffing there seems to be a little intermittent. We had an experience one night where we ordered a drink, were charged for it, and then were told that the machine was down and had to substitute.

On balance, a positive stay and I would reserve at the Lumen again.

It was the third time we had travelled to Lisbon and as on the previous two occasions we trusted Lumen and we were not disappointed.
At reception all the workers were very friendly and when after the first night we transferred a problem with the plugs in the room they noted the breakdown and when we returned to the hotel at night it was already solved so delighted with the treatment and resolution by reception who also took care of our bags on the last day and requested a taxi to the airport.
The room we were assigned had views of the interior garden and therefore overlooking the light show referred to by the name of the hotel, which until now we had not coincided to see, and which is spectacular.
With regard to the rooms are spacious and have a tablet to access the internet, manage the TV and display different information about the hotel and the city. The bathroom has a large shower and as it is an eco-friendly hotel you can choose between having sheets and towels changed every day or reuse them in which case each day you accumulate discounts to use in hotel services. The rooms have a minibar that you can request that the hotel refill with products you like, also has a capsule coffee maker and kettle and every day they replenish you, free of charge, a bottle of mineral water
As for the location is not in the center of Lisbon but that is not a problem as you are in a quiet area and less than 250m there are two entrances of the yellow metro line (Picoas) and at a stop (Marques de Pombal) it links with the blue line that takes you to the center. Walking distance, the hotel is 500m from the Marquis de Pombal statue and therefore from the start of Avenida da Liberdade and Eduardo VII Park.
In short a highly recommended hotel to which we will definitely return

…. we were able to experience during our five-day stay at the Lumen Hotel Lisbon.

We were given a very friendly welcome by the reception staff.

We had asked for a quiet room, which we were given on the third floor (326) at the end of the corridor with a view of the light show in the courtyard.

Lots of glass, lots of mirrors, lots of wood… Puristic, but still cozy.

Each room is equipped with an elaborate lighting concept, you have to find your way around the many switches first. ;-).

In the room itself, everything was there, including a coffee/espresso machine.

All bathroom and care utensils were also plentiful.

Only now and then did the room service forget to refill a towel or espresso capsules (despite daily tips), but no problem: a quick call to reception was enough and the missing items were immediately delivered to the room.

The breakfast buffet was really very good, we didn't lack anything and there was nothing to complain about.
However, on the last day the breakfast room was relatively busy at 9:30 a.m., so the friendly staff fell a little behind with the delivery of cappuccino/espresso or other coffee specialties (filter coffee is constantly delivered to the tables anyway). But that's not a problem for us, we're on vacation and not on the run.

Restaurant:
We also really liked the hotel restaurant.
The food concept here is a bit unusual and you have to study the menu a bit (in Portuguese and English) and then choose what suits you.
But what is then delivered is of excellent quality.
If you're looking for the standard dishes that are otherwise common in touristy Lisbon, you'll have a bit of a hard time.

Tip: at reception there is a 30% voucher for dinner in the hotel, which makes the restaurant visit really attractive in terms of price!

About the location:
yes, the hotel is a bit away from the big tourist hustle and bustle in the center of Lisbon.
We were aware of this beforehand and consciously accepted it because we didn't want this hectic hustle and bustle around the clock.
It is not a problem to get from the hotel into the city or to the sights, however: on foot, of course, if you want to discover the less touristy Lisbon.
But there is, for example, a metro station in the immediate vicinity, we like to use the local digital taxi apps and you can get to any place in the city with these taxis for 5-6 euros (we don't get on the bus for that).

Another note:
next to the hotel and also to the left of the courtyard (where the daily great light show takes place at 10 p.m.) there is currently a large construction site.
However, the work there never starts before 8 a.m./8:30 a.m. If you want to spend the day in the hotel's inner courtyard (or on the roof in the pool area - but that was currently closed), we think it's "loud" there at the moment.
But we're in Lisbon to do something and we didn't stay in the hotel during the day. But that's just a little tip for our own benefit.

Otherwise, we were very happy with our stay and would like to thank the management and the very friendly team at the Hotel Lumen!
Keep it up, we'll be happy to come back.

And thank you for the "liquid and sweet greeting" on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. 👍🍀🥂

This was the perfect hotel in the ideal location for us.

Our well-equipped room was extremely clean and quiet, and we had everything we needed including coffee maker and kettle, air conditioning, different lighting modes, a large bathroom with toiletries, luggage storage space, and good Wi-Fi connection. Our beds were large and very comfortable.

The breakfasts were delicious, with a wide range of options including local pastries. We also ate dinner at the hotel on a couple of evenings and enjoyed the amazing light shows afterwards. The friendly and helpful staff made sure we had a wonderful stay.

We were upgraded to a room on the Executive Floor, which made our visit even more special; we have visited the Lumen hotel previously in a 'standard' room and that was also perfect. When we return to Lisbon again we would not even consider staying anywhere else.

Dear Guest, First of all, thank you for your loyalty. It is so wonderful to see that so many guests choose to return to the hotel. We truly believe that we can become our guests’ family away from home, and having such kind guests who already understand our mindset and service makes this even easier. It is a huge responsibility to know that you won’t consider any other hotel in Lisbon, but we promise to do our very best to live up to that trust. We hope to see you again soon. We found the Lumen, a very cozy Hotel, with large bedrooms, the oversized bed is fantastic and allows for optimal rest. The rooms are always clean and with nothing ever out of place, very large bathroom, excellently soundproofed, extremely bright, both natural and artificial light, which I must say have attention to detail, the name of the Hotel recalls the characteristic. You have lights in the closet, on the floor, only in the shower or in the entire bathroom... there are mirrors and the services of the room itself, always glass bottled water and coffee for the morning. The service staff available and ready for any request. The breakfast service is fantastic, stocked with everything, between sweet and savory and always well stocked. The wait staff is very attentive and considerate. The only flaw I can point out, is the absence of the shower to make the Bidet... but just because we Italians are used well, because otherwise it is exceptional. Well located for sightseeing, with the metro a few dozen meters that also leads directly into the center, bus and supermarket within walking distance.

We used this as a base to see the beautiful city of Lisbon and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is very modern and unique in terms of design and definitely one of the more interesting hotels we've stayed at.

We arrived from Lisbon airport via the subway which was quick and cheap. The hotel is only a short walk from the subway station. We got checked in very quickly and had a quick introductory talk through the amenities from a friendly member of staff.

Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the internal courtyard. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the bathroom had a shower, sink etc. Air conditioning worked well and was much appreciated during the July heat. Lots of space in the room for clothes and there was a free safe also. Small fridge too although a bottle opener wasn't provided.

The hotel does offer breakfast although we didn't visit and there is a bar in the main lobby. While we were there they offered a 5 euro voucher to be used at the bar for every day you went without your room cleaned.

There is a rooftop pool and bar. The area isn't huge and both times we visited all the loungers were taken but it was perfect for a quick dip and a cool drink.

Some of the reviews had said the hotel is a bit far out but we didn't find this to be the case. Subway is easy and reliable and we found Ubers to be super reliable and very reasonable for getting around. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Dear Guest, We appreciate your review and thank you for all your compliments about the hotel and the services provided. Regarding the Rooftop area, we made several improvements at the end of August. We added 12 additional sunbeds, super comfortable mattresses for the sunbeds, new side tables, and more umbrellas. If this area was already fantastic, it is now truly marvelous—perfect. Regarding our localization, we agree with you, once with the metro station practically in our front door can take our guest to the main touristic spot in 5minutes more a less. Even walking down the street, in less than 500 meters our guests can get to the Lisbon’s most central square – Marques de Pombal. We hope to welcome you back soon.
