We slept 5 nights in a 6 dorm and everything was perfect. The hostel is very clean and the staff was really helpful. There's breakfast included, i couldn't complain about it since it's really cheap. If you're looking for a good restaurant there is one in the hostel ;-). The hostel is close to restaurants and bars but I didn't...

I got a reservation at the web site Hostel World. When I got there they told me that there was a mistake, and they already closed the room. I did not receive amy message on my e-mail about this situation. The girl at the reception told that the same thing already happened that day, and they apparently didn't solve the...

We stayed in a room right next to the street which is cobbled. With the roof top bar right on top of us (amazing view btw) abd the street next to us, we barely managed to sleep. The young stuff are very friendly though and gave us a 50% discount because they apparently had a party in the bar that...

When you look for a hostel to stay, first of all, you focus on its location within the city, "The Independente" it's near the city center and is surrounded by lots of restaurants, bars and pubs where you can easily hang out with friends without spending to much money on it. Then, the rooms are clean and nice, equipped with...

The first positive thing we noticed was the price. Knowing that we were a group of young people, who wanted to save as much money as we could, The Independente Hostel & Suites suited perfectly our budget. What we didn't expect was how excellent the localization was. Just in front of one of the most emblematic miradouro of the city,...

We only spent one night here. To put it into perspective we had four nights Air B&B and our last night here cost the same as four nights there! However, we are paying for the location, we wanted to move just around the corner. Basically for the cost it's not a hotel, our suite no. 3 was €135; here are...

For those of you of "a certain age," when making a reservation at this property make triply sure that you reserve the SUITES & TERRACE!! I am sure these are a fantastic experience and what a more seasoned traveler is after when visiting the Independente. This is not to say that the HOSTEL & SUITES weren't a fine experience. But,...

The plusses: The location of the hotel was amazing! The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was one of the best ever with such a lovely kitchen staff. The interior design of the room and hotel were very cool. The not so nice things unfortunately: At our check-in the receptionist told us that the hotel was fully booked so they gave...

We stayed here for 2 nights in a top floor suite (number 2) on a trip to Portugal following a recommendation in the Sunday Times. Now for UK readers who see hostal and skip over - DON'T!! The place does have hostal type rooms but also has 4 suites on the top floor. These are wonderful private rooms that are...
