This is a charming hotel with lovely helpful staff, great location down on the 'flat' bit of Lisbon near lots of eateries. The superior room was fabulous with a lovely bathroom and a small kitchenette (Kettle, full sized fridge, two ring cooker). There is an iMac and iPad, iPod docking station, DAB radio, TV, great WiFi in every room- everything...

The hotel is perfectly located near the pedestrian zone close to Baixa. The staff is extremely friendly and gave us good advice what to visit. The room was not huge, but very tastefully decorated. It's equipped with all kinds of high-tech. We loved the breakfast with sweet fresh pineapples served next door in the coffee Brown.

We chose Browns downtown as our base. Excellent location just off the main street so you are near to everything. Our room had an iPad, lovely modern decor and kitchen area. A compact room but we had no problem. We where on the 4th floor and had a little terrace showcasing the street. As its centrally located we did have...

Pros: The hotel is chic and clean. Some of the staff was polite. Excellent location with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Cons: 1. The wifi was absolutely unreliable. I lived in 5/F for three nights and the wifi could not be connected all the time. The wifi could only be connected in the lobby. I called the reception and...

Very nice hotel. Stayed twice in Room 601, one of the two castle view rooms. It was spacious with a fabulous view of Lisbon's castle. There was a computer and iPod, and a huge TV. (Several English channels!) You do have to climb a flight of steps past the top floor of the elevator. No breakfast on site, but can...

The room was amazing, clean and had everything I could possibly have wanted (apart from tea or coffee strangely). The staff were accommodating and friendly. The cafe downstairs is lovely and quirky. Food was nice. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in

I really loved staying at Brown's Downtown and I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel itself is in a very attractive part of Lisbon with lots of stuff to see and do. There isn't any parking at the hotel itself, but there is a parking garage nearby. The room was very cozy, clean and modern. The staff was...

In the middle of downtown Lisbon, close to the subway (Baixa/Chiado), this hotel is OK, but not worth the price compared to others we have stayed at in Lisbon. The issues are mainly in the details, and detract from having a good experience. First, we were looking for the hotel and the signage was poor, and we first went to...

Had a couple of nights in a Premium Room at Brown's Downtown in Lisbon. It's worth mentioning the room type as there's a few options, and this is one of the better ones. Firstly the hotel is a bit hard to find, largely because there's basically no signage - I walked past it probably twice, with the aid of Google...

My wife and I stayed here while on our honeymoon in Lisbon. Fantastic experience! Service was friendly, helpful and very nice. Rooms were very clean and well laid out. Great to have an iMac & iPad in the room. The ambiance of the hotel is very unique. Modern hotel and amenities in a very old part of Lisbon. Bed was...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
