my 2 friends and i stayed here while in Lisbon for the Benfica vs Celtic game in the champions league. it is really a no frills hotel on the Rossio square where all the celtic fans met so it was a great location from that point of view. as the hotel is situated on one of the main squares it...

It was the worst experience in my life!!! The entrance dirty and full of spiderweb. Our room was dirty and humid, and after 2 minutes we find out that it was actually raining inside the room! They changed our room for another without a window, dirty and full of mosquitoes. We couldn't sleep also because it was very noisy. At...

Cheap, but nice and very clean hostel with friendly staff. Reception open 24/7. The best is the location, right at the very center of Lisbon, walking distance to everything. If you only need a room to sleep, I recommend...

This is not for everyone as it's quite a climb (no lift) and the toilets are shared. That said, the price reflects this. The location is excellent, the beds very comfortable (high on my list of priorities) and the staff could not have been more friendly and obliging. Overall, very good value for money.

steep stairs, friendly stuff, very central, small rooms, toilets outside the room, free water, free coffee, but very economically, it is at the central place, neat bus and metro stations, cheap cafes and restaurants nearby!

Stayed here for a few days with friends while going to a football match, the staff were very friendly and the room was basic but we had a shower room and sink and had a communal toilet down the corridor which was kept very clean. The stairs to the rooms are quite steep and this place would be no good...

We stayed two nights here and our host could not have been more obliging. Our room was small but clean and while the window opened onto a busy lane (Rua 1 December) it did not disturb us too much at night when we closed the roll down shutters. The price makes it a very reasonable option but you are still...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
