On a Friday night, we were able to slip in early without a reservation. The seafood in the window is fresh & premium sized - huge prawns. When seated there were olives, bread, warm cheese, and a meat & cheese platter. All of these are...More
Located at the gates of the castle and in the heart of Lisbon's historical area, this hotel is a tremendous jumping-off point for so many (steep) walks, landmarks and restaurants. My wife and I had only one here last weekend, but we were totally charmed...More

Our experience of this hotel was almost faultless. The building is a stunning conversion of older buildings. The communal areas and courtyard are beautiful. We reserved a Mansarda room, in the eaves, because we value a good view over most other things when it comes...More

My husband booked this hotel as a special birthday weekend away. It is very quiet and I slept incredibly well, even though the peacocks from the castle could be a little noisy. The hotel overall is a lovely place to stay, the room was clean...More
We stayed here for 3 nights on a room only basis and found the Hotel to be welcoming, friendly, and a quiet oasis (which we suspect would be even more welcome in the high season).
We were in the old building and found the room...More
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of
Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.

Hello from sunny Lisbon,
Solar Do Castelo is the only hotel within the walls of São Jorge Castle, on the top of Alfama old quarter. The streets of the Castle Village are very narrow and locals keep on having their flower pots and little bird cages literally on the street. Of course that is part of the enchantment of this place but it does not help much the traffic access to our place, that now is restricted to locals and taxis 24h a day.
For your convenience we can arrange a private transfer from the airport. We have also a Golf cart that can pick you up at the castle gate. You just have to tell us when you need it.
Warm regards ;)

We booked and paid for this hotel in the UK in £ as it was part of a walking holiday package. However, the hotel honesty bar prices were quoted in euros so we paid in euros for the drinks and for the tourist tram/bus/boat tickets purchased at reception. Hope this helps.
