I stayed 5 nights in the hostel and had a nice stay. I was kind of hesitant to book based on prior reviews but was pleased with the stay. It's a very simple space so don't expect much in terms of socializing and night life but facilities were clean and staff was nice and professional. Compared to other hostels I've...

Basics. Place was loud with doors slamming all night because of bad latches, toilets and showers out of order, rude staff entering the dorm throughout the night turning lights on then walking out while the dorm was full of sleeping people. Loud staff entering dorm of the morning yelling to other staff in the next room at 6am opening curtains....

Very good location. In the night the neighbourhood gets quiet because only restaurants around are open, but bars and nightlife are in walking distance. The hostel has room for 40 guests, but when we were there it wasn't full. That was very nice, because 3 toilets and 3 showers might be not enough when it's full. Some of the guests...

In general it is difficult to find value for money accommodation in Lisbon, so this hostel is very good located, the room is not bad, simple and clean, with a balcony and small heater. Staff is friendly and helpfull, and thry serve a kind of breakfast.

This was the worst hostel I ever lived in. First of all it was hard to find. There was a very small sign in front of the building. When I checked in the receptionist said that they don't except card while on the website it was written that they do except cards. Luckily, I had some cash with me. Otherwise,...

Had a good stay here. Staff were helpful and friendly. Never had a problem and location was amazing and near everything! Would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in short city trip. Got a taxi back to hotel arranged by the staff. Had no hassle at all I would stay here again.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
