Three friends stayed her for three nights. We had a single and a twin room. Rooms not large but clean and comfortable. Aircon was a bit hit and miss, but OK. Hotel rooms were pretty quiet. We didn't have the breakfast, but it seemed OK. Staff very good. Helpful and efficient. Hotel 5' from metro. Some good restaurants in the area.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel, friendly staff and okay rooms. Everything you can expect for a 2* hotel. Did not had the chance to try the breakfast. It’s in a save area close to the subway station, travel time to the city center: 5-10 min.

The good: room was very clean and fresh towels were provided every day, water pressure in the shower was amazing, located near the metro The bad: TINY TINY room with an uncomfortable tiny bed (very hard, with a small, lumpy pillow). The curtain was paper thin, so anyone could see into the room if the light was on, even with the curtain closed. This hotel is most definitely not in the city center - you’ll need to plan in 15-25 minutes of metro time to get to the heart of Lisbon, so keep that in mind for tours. I met up with a friend in Lisbon, who I invited to stay with me for a night so we could catch an early train to Sintra in the morning, and they charged me 20 euro for that, which feels pretty ridiculous. The front desk staff is very nice, but when I went to check out, I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to get off the phone, then I had to provide my card AGAIN to pay for one day’s breakfast (pro tip: DO NOT pay for this hotel breakfast, you can get a MUCH BETTER meal for 5 euro at any cafe nearby). Because checkout took much longer than I expected, I missed my train. If the room hadn’t been non-refundable, I would have switched hotels immediately.

I spent quite while looking at hotels at the price I wanted. Ibis were very helpful and I would have chosen them, but an old friend in Lisbon said that Hotel Italia is in a safe area and it won't be full of business types. I chose the Italia. I was not disappointed. The area was just right for me, quiet but near the Metro stations Saldanha and Sao Sebastio. It is also near the Gulbenkian Museum, another plus. The connections via Metro is exactly what I wanted. A quiet area with a Lidl supermarket on the other side of the street. Very useful ! I had a small room that had obviously been recently refurbished. I had a TV with many channels and free wifi. It was exactly what I needed. A place to sleep, with a comfortable bed and an en-suite. The breakfast was the usual tea, coffee, yogurt, various types of bread to put in the toaster and as much cheese and ham that one would want. Cereals and sweet things if that was what you wished. Just what one needed, rather more than a croissant and coffee. The real plus for this hotel is the staff. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. It was a great help for my stay, if I had a problem about where to go or to find something, they couldn't do enough, superb. I will definitely return.

When I arrived I realized I had booked this hotel for 8 days instead of the 7 that I needed. Even though the last day was a week away, the reception was insistent that I pay it, which I grudgingly did, even though other hotels are generally more flexible. The staff wasn't rude about this however and were generally supportive during the stay. The room had a view of a dingy air shaft, was extremely basic, and had no working WiFi (you could connect, but it didn't provide Internet access). Luckily we could sometimes catch the weak signal from the lobby from our room. The breakfast was substandard (coffee was undrinkable, orange juice tasted like powdered concentrate) that we chose to eat elsewhere most of the time. Only highlight was the strange tomato jam.
