My partner and I stayed at this B&B and had the most amazing stay. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable, the location was unbeatable (in the old town), the views of the castle great and, above all, we felt extremely safe with the cleaning standards (a particularly important point in these Covid times).

The host Luis was very welcoming and always at hand to advise on good restaurants and places to visit in Lisbon. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

We love B&B's for the warmth and hospitality they have to offer and were extremely happy to experience that at Zuza Bed. We found Luis particularly friendly, welcoming and helpful. He was always willing to explain and share with us his knowledge and incredible tips on Lisbon which made our trips unforgettable.

When it comes to the place itself, the common area where a sumptuous breakfast is served, breathes conviviality, which made it a perfect place to exchange and engage in great discussions with our host. We had two very charming bedrooms linked by an amazing terrace with a magnificent view on the historic center and the St. George castle. To access the apartment, we had to walk through a small corridor and staircase which emphasized this feeling of reaching a cosy nest in the middle of the city.

Another strong point of this B &B is its idyllic location in a pedestrian street of the old Lisbon, just a few minutes away from everything you need to see in this beautiful city.

During this stay we had the chance to enjoy a visit of the close south coast facing the Atlantic Ocean in Luis' boat. It was an extraordinary and top class experience! When we thought this activity could not be better, we were lucky enough to see dolphins at less than 20 meters!.

Thank you for this amazing stay and your outstanding hospitality Luis.

We'll be back!

Isabelle & Didier

Greetings from alaways beautiful Lisbon, dear Didier Such a pleasant surprise from you when I opened my computer to start the day! I read your incredible review about Zuzabed and want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude for taking the time to share your thoughts. You have managed to capture the essence, nature and character of what Zuzabed represents. Similarly, the surrounding neighborhood and the memorable views of the St Jorge castle can never be replicated. The mind always remembers the beauty of the view with the ever-changing vista and light that complete every Lisbon experience. It was my pleasure to host you both and share my home with you. I am happy to know you enjoyed your stay and of course choosing one of my day trips offered to my Guests. Exploring the Arribada coast by boat is a pure delight to savor the Portuguese landscape coastline and if we're lucky the dolphins!!! And we had the cherry at the top of the cake with many dolphins around us on that day! 😊 The B&B location can't be beat as you noted. You are in the historic center with everything within walking distance. Zuzabed prides itself on being in a historic building on a typical Lisbon calçada and as you described...cozy! We want you to feel at home away from home. Thanks again for your positive comments. I have shared with the team and we are all beaming with pride. Was a truly pleasure meeting and chat with you and I already look forward to seeing you again and sharing more sights and tastes of the city and beyond. Warm regards wishing you a great weekend 😊 Luis Zuzarte

I could not have made a better choice for my first trip to Lisbon! The b&b is located in a quiet and athmospheric part of the old town with a few tipical restaurants and bars just nextdoor. Luis is a very welcoming host and the communication was clear and friendly at any time so it was easy for me to find the location and to start with a good feeling for exploring the city. As a local Luis gives you great advices especially if you are vegetarian and in search for fresh and tasty food!
If you are dreaming of a cosy privat room with balcony and castleviews, lovely stuff and a most satisfying experience in the heart of Lisbon go for Zuzabed Accommodations!

A girlfriend and I rented two separate adjacent units, Zuzabed Villa Rosa.
We chose Zuzabed because friends loved the location but had stayed at the larger B&B a couple years earlier.

On the plus side, heated towel racks work and place is very quiet. Owner Louis attentive and personally picked us up at airport. Neighborhood charming, very hilly but lots of shops, bars and restaurants. But the apartments are another story.

Funky is putting it mildly. Both apts were ground level, another plus for older travelers. The aprs could have had charm but the outdoor areas were seriously neglected. Mold and mildew everywhere and dog poop in the courtyard we had to dodge. We rented because we wanted outdoor access and it was not useable.

Both apartments smelled strongly of mildew and bed linens and sofas always felt damp. We both got respiratory coughs in the 4 nights we stayed. Will spring for more finished digs in Lisbon next time. But these apts are cheap and private.

I stayed here for 16 nights in Feb. 2020, longer than I intended to stay in Lisbon but I loved everything about this place so I extended my stay. Luis the owner could not have been more accommodating. He was there within minutes of arrival, he arrived each day for breakfast (excellent food and coffee), he answered all my questions and provided great advice. I stayed in two different rooms - one in the back (very quiet) and one in the front next to the breakfast/living room which had some sidewalk noise but not late at night. With the windows closed it was fine. The rooms were very clean and had everything you needed. It felt like home away from home. I plan to return to Lisbon so that I can stay here again.
A big thank you to Luis, Rami and Mahesh.

My family and friends have travelled to Portugal for over 10 years and there's no doubt where we make reservations in Lisbon.

We found this jewel a long time ago and decided

to stay once again in this cozy , super location (smack in the middle of

everything you need). Its where we are greeted like old friends and in someone's home. The four rooms are lovingly decorated and well maintained. We opted for two rooms one the Home Garden room which is located off the dining/ living room . It was bright and cheery , comfort plus with all the amenities one needs. We enjoyed the livingroom and computer for easy planning and meeting other travelers. Our second room for friends was one of the Terrace rooms with a view like a postcard and the ever changing famous light of Lisbon. They really enjoyed sitting outside and absorbing the Portuguese culture and life right below on the stairwell for pedestrians only. Breakfast was something to look forward to! A delicious freshly made breakfast which included a hot meal with eggsto order and bacon. The fresh bread and jams, fruit of the season and everflowing coffee ,fresh juice and the all you can eat buffet, and conversation well you
get the idea!!! Luis, the innkeeper and his delightful staff gave 100
Percent plus every day.Luis is still the same cheerful charismatic and charming man we first met. It's always our pleasure to see him and his staff.

We all enjoyed the soundtrack of background music, conversation and helpful tips along with the Zuza App. New plans are in the development
stages to not only offer Zuza boat tours but Zuza group and private tours of the surrounding area. We cant wait! In closing, another wonderful stay and chance to explore more pretty villages and coastline in Portugal.Once again more memorable moments created and partly owed to the sincere and friendly hospitality of Zuzabed.

Goooood morning dear Autumn leaves,   As I wrote in my welcome message in our website “the best prize we get every day is to have your preference, as many have repeatedly honored us over the years…” Knowing that many continuously see Zuzabed as their home away from home when visiting Lisbon make us very proud. Was a pleasure to host you again and to meet your friends; now our new friends! 😊 Our always lovely morning chats is something that every day I look forward and I happy to know that after all these years wee still don’t disappoint you! All the best and see you soon, I hope. I reinforce my best wishes for a super 2020 full of only the best! Much love, good health and peace! Sincerely yours, Luis Zuzarte

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Lisbon and staying at Zuza was such a great decision. One, Louis is so friendly and makes the effort to speak to you every morning at breakfast -- we both feel like we have a friend in Lisbon now! It's a great place to meet other travelers and bond over how wonderful Portugal is. Two, breakfast is very filling and tasty. We always were asked if we wanted eggs and bacon in addition to the plentiful breads, meats, fruit, coffee, and juice. We even tried to eat out for breakfast and had a hard time limiting ourselves at Zuza. Three, the location is superb. It's really centrally located so walking anywhere for dinner or window shopping is never more than a 15 minute walk. We stayed in the Terrace Castle room and the view of the city was so beautiful that we watched multiple sunrises. It's not a big room, but the terrace and view was worth it to us!

My best friend and I stayed in one of the terrace rooms at Zuzabed for three nights in December. It was my second time, having stayed in the same room with my husband back in 2007. There is a good reason I did not want to stay anywhere else 15 years later. Two reasons, actually. The first being that Zuzabed is one of the most charming and unique b&bs I have stayed at during my more than 20 years of travel all through Europe. Located close enough to the main square which is a short walk away, the b&b is situated in a very local and authentic Lisbon neighborhood. And is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and little mini markets. The terrace rooms are cute and well-contained and have everything one needs with an attached spacious balcony. Providing you with the most spectacular views of the city, the highlight being the Castelo de São Jorge, high up on a hill. Breakfast each morning is wonderful. Simple yet delicious, with breads, ham and salami, cheese, made to order eggs and bacon, juice, fruits, yogurt, cakes, etc. My second reason to always stay at Zuzabed is Luis, the owner. Luis is one of the most personable, friendly, warm, and helpful people I have ever met. He goes above and beyond for his guests and does everything he possibly can to assist them and ensure they have a wonderful stay. Whether it be insisting on hauling our luggage up to our room, providing suggestions for sights to see and things to do, or coming up with solutions for anything that might go a little sideways during the trip. All in all, if you want to experience Lisbon like one really should, start by staying at Zuzabed. You will not regret it. I am happy to answer any and all questions regarding this lovely b&b and its wonderful owner.

Goooood morning dear Heather ! Another beautiful sunny day and what a nice surprise to read your nice review! Thanks for taking the time to share your travel experience with us and the TA readers. It's hard to believe all this time has past since we said hello and we still remember seeing you like it was yesterday here in beautiful Portugal. It's always a pleasure to know we made your stay easy, comfy and convenient. We are as you noted in the very central historical city center so the sights await to be explored in every direction. We are already ready to welcome in this summer's Guests and for this month, the weather has been picture perfect. Here in Portugal we are now in the 2nd phase of deflation with the restrictions to be reduced in phases. All this taking into account the excellent Covid numbers in Portugal. The flights are being released (except for flights from Italy and Spain) and passengers arriving in Portugal are no longer required a 14-day quarantine period. Life is returning to normality (new normality) with shops, restaurants, museums and other services are now open and ZUZABED didn't close during this period. We had to adjust the safety procedures and that's done already, we're certified Safe and Clean by Portugal Tourism! We have implemented the new hygiene rules and others that are part of our daily routine, but so as not to interfere with the comfort of our guests, guaranteeing them the necessary relaxation and rest when on vacation. The new normality is being very well regarded and respected by society in general, taking into account a common good which is Public Health. Everybody is very respectful regarding the new rules and considering all this we can say that we are living. Airports are also open and we know that many companies have started to fly to Portugal from Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London among many other European cities! Actually we have Guests arriving next Tuesday and we all are very excited to meet each other. So, we look forward to welcoming you back to share more of Lisbon's beauty and secret spots :-) It was great to host you and share chats and smiles. In the meantime, enjoy the summer months and my best wishes to you and yours. Stay safe! Warm regards, Luis Zuzarte

My wife and I had a few days in the B&B and had a great time. We were a little early to Lisbon and Luis met us at a nearby restaurant to get us checked in. :Luis even helped me carry the bags up to the room.

The B&B was well located in the Chicado and Bairro Alto area and offered us a quick walk to anything we wanted to see. The metro is not far away and there are many restaurants, bars and grocery stores nearby.

The room was small as many are in the area, but very functional. We had a large bed that was very comfortable and the private bathroom was fully equipped. The wifi worked out well and even after I mentioned on the first day that it was running a bit slow, Luis was on the phone with this provider the next day and it worked like a dream afterwards. There is a coffee maker and a small fridge as well.

Every morning, the B&B offers a nice breakfast with beverages, breads, spreads and his team will cook you bacon and eggs if you desire. All the guests met at his communal table and had a good time. Luis was onsite each morning of my stay so that we could ask questions about the city, get recommendations, or just chat.

Luis worked very hard to make sure that we had a great stay. We saw him around picking up and delivering supplies to the property and he was always available to answer a question or help. We even saw Luis at a local restaurant and he came over, greeted us and helped interface with the staff to help us get a table. Ana amazingly friendly gentleman who has a passion for making sure that his guests are having a good time.

We were in need of a great time away and our stay at Zuzabed helped make it happen. The property was great, the other guests were really great and the service from Luis was really outstanding. The next time, I am in Lisbon (which I hope is soon), I will definitely see if Luis has a room available.
