We loved our stay at Zuzabed Patio Suites. The apartment was modern, clean & very well equipped with all the kitchen basics, coffeemaker, iron & ironing board, umbrella & table on small patio. After 3 weeks of travel, it was nice to have some extra space! The location is excellent--just a block from Praca de Camões with bus, metro & tram connections & great restaurants just steps away. The greatest part of our experience was the owner, Luis. He is super nice & friendly. We had complete arrival information including where to park car & he gave us great recommendations when he checked us in. There are 2 restaurants right outside the apartment that were excellent. Zuzabed elves stock the refrigerator daily with yogurt, cheese, ham, juices & leave fresh bread at your door daily. Lisboa is a big city & there was some noise at night, but by midnight everything was quiet. We had no problems with it. Great location, great place & super owner. Thank you Luis!

My wife and I stayed here five nights and it made for an excellent base to explore Lisbon. Close to Baxia, Barrio Alto, train station and metro. Also close to many restaurants and bars. We loved sitting at the community table in the morning, meeting the other guests and sharing travel stories. Luis joined us every morning. In fact we got along so well that Luis invited the guests to join him for a fantastic evening at the Old Pharmacy wine bar. The next evening we joined those same couples for beers at Duque Pub (craft beer highly recommend!) and dinner at The Wine Bar (small, great food and wine) just uphill from the BB. I loved the terrace! We sat out there many times enjoying the great view while taking breaks from the tough Lisbon walking and to wind down the evening with an Aperol spritz from the small restaurant next door. Ok, would I recommend ZUZA Bed to any of my Hampton Inn traveling friends? Absolutely not. Number one, they couldn’t handle climbing three flights of narrow stairs with luggage. Number two they would never put up with a floor that creaks, a bathroom door that doesn’t close, a small shower and a terrace door that locks automatically when closed (could have been a disaster if the couple next door were not in their room). Third, I don’t see them wanting to wear ear plugs or eye shades at times at night just to be in a central location. To each their own. As our next two stops we stayed in excellent hotels that had the ambience of cruise ships and will soon be forgotten, ZUZA Bed and top host Luis will not. In addition to other suggestions mentioned above. Highly recommend the Devour food tour that starts just a few blocks away down 90 steps to the Baxia. Also, make sure you have a good plan for Sintra. The crowds crushed us and made the day very tough and took a lot of fun out.

This is a review for the Lisbon Suite on Rue de Gaveas, Bairro Alto. Booked direct in Feb for our April visit - first time in Lisbon for me & my teenage daughter - an early birthday treat for her 🥳🎈🎈 Only the suites were available so I booked a standard suite. Received 2 email confirmations immediately. One week before our departure date I didn’t receive a response to my email / WhatsApp. Finally got through to Miguel on a WhatsApp call, who reassured me they had my details, answered my questions and explained they had been busy over Easter so couldn’t email back. As I was travelling alone with my daughter I was being super cautious & wanted to check everything was still ok while I still had time to cancel. I also noted they hadn’t taken the deposit. One day before departure I received a friendly email from Luis with travel details and info about his brilliant zuzabed app. Our keys on arrival were left at a local restaurant - Castro, ( literally opposite our suite). Luis was great, told us what to do, checked we had got in & gave dinner recommendations. The third floor room was just like the pictures. So clean, comfortable beds, two pillows each, a/c, hot water, coffee machine, kettle, micro, hob, dishwasher, washing machine if u need it..,good sized bathroom…& daily breakfast items in the fridge. Little touches and nice decor made it feel special & more than basic. We loved the fresh bread which was delivered daily. Luis sent more great tips for places to visit & it was great finally bumping into him and his gorgeous dog. Felt v safe in the apartment. Having read previous reviews, I was ready for it being party central at the weekends until 3 am, you feel like you are in the middle of a crowd, so if you are a light sleeper or not joining the party, then buy ear plugs. We were fine & missed the buzz on Monday evening!! The suite is a good size, so I’m glad we ended up with that. It’s nice after a good day of walking around in the sun to have space. Big thanks to Luis and his team, providing well furnished and comfortable accommodation in such a central location. You are minutes away from everything. A little niggle, our TV remote needed new batteries & we couldn’t use the safe. Luis felt bad for missing my WhatsApp and was sorry. We were mostly out and about so didn’t really watch TV. Luis always answered my phone calls, so that’s prob the best way to communicate with him in Lisbon. I wouldn’t hesitate to choose zuzabed if I have the chance to visit Lisbon again 🙂

Avoid this place. The main issue was the owner waking us in the night and entering the room without warning. This was an alarming experience. The other concerns are minor in comparison but the place is very run down (burns on sofa and peeling paint), the "breakfast" consisted of expired products and the cleanliness left lots to be desired. It is the first time I have ever felt the need to leave a place mid stay.

And the best Joke award goes to… 🏆 🤣🤣 William, I have to tell you that you made my day with your review!!! I was in need of a good laugh on the busy day I had! 🤣🤣 I’m still laughing with when you say that I entered your room in the middle of the night!!! LOLOLO You had a dream William and I have to tell you that if I was in your dreams, it was a good one!! 🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing and actually, this afternoon when I was notified that your this same review was posted on Google I was with some other Guests having some cheese and a wine tasting and I have to tell you that we all had an enormous laugh for quite a long time about your dream!!! 🤣🤣Oh Lord!! 🤣 You are quite something William!! You RocketMan, reading your review, you leave me worried about you, honestly!🙄 Me in your room in the middle of the night!! 🤣🤣 You should look for medical assistance and urgently. My dear William Wingert I am responding to your threat to write to a negative review. I was expecting it as you warned me when you didn't get a discount. Instead, you upped the ante and continued to do by adding photos of current dated products that you claim are outdated. All lies!!! You write about nothing William and after the conversation we had yesterday when you thread me with a bad review you knew the points mentioned were not reason for the discount you were asking! And today, out of the blue you decided to “put me” in your room in the middle of the night!!! 🤣🤣🤣 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO I have to give you credit for the great sense of humor you have! You’re a comedian!! 🤣🤣 You are a comedian and a good one, for sure because the good laugh continues when You have shown your worldliness by showing also YOUR TRUE IGNORANCE William Wingert. Pictures with the "outdated products" which are in fact: day/month/year. 🤣🤣🤣 Your worldliness has been exposed to the internet community. You're a bad person William but worse than that is being mean to yourself!! 🤣 you don't look good in this picture!! 🤣🤣 Now you can see how dangerous it is to write about all lies. Writing a review based on falsities, creating/dreaming/having hallucinations about things, when you think the food is outdated and expired when it isn't and more so you think I'm on your room in the middle of the night! 🤦‍♂️Shame on you William!! Shame on you!! 🤥 You are not a child to lie this way!! At your age, doing what you're doing and the way you're doing it can easily be classified as ridiculous!! What does Susan think about it? She may be in danger by travelling with a person like you! 🙄 William, I’m in this business since 2006 and I’m proud for the honest service I do together with my team to many many worldwide travelers that everyday stay with us and go home with good memories. We take serious and always value our beloved Guests feedback; actually, it’s for them that we work. But we deserve respect; the same respect we dedicate to our Guests. We always thank them for point us in good directions. Our respectful Guests always do that and we are grateful. And then, there are tourists like you. Your meanness and ignorance is insulting and offensive! People like you have a name; it’s “scammers”. You started complaining about nothing and you know that. The apartment was well cleaned, no problem at all with the rug, the dishwasher works perfectly even though due to the heat of the machine in operation the paint on the wooden door is peeling, and the sofa you knew what happened and on behalf of the Guests that did the silliness they did to the sofa, I’ve apologized directly to you during the early check-in I kindly offered you when you arrived way before check-in time. You have complained about anything, anything that could leave me worried. But you wanted me to give you a discount and you have threatened me with a bad review and said you had already booked another place to stay and you would be leaving next morning. Your threatening was not enough and next and as if you were a magician you decide to pull a rabbit out of your hat which was the ridiculous lie of me having entered your room in the middle of the night and woke you up!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry but every time I think about this 🤣 I can't stop laughing. 🤣🤣🤣 Yesterday when we spoke at 7pm (by the way, not counting check-in, at 7pm was the 2nd and last time I entered your Suite and you opened the door for me, do your remember William! That was reality, not a dream! 😉 Afterwards, I spent the whole night at home in my bed and not in your suite🤣). So, at 7pm it was interesting and funny to see your attitude/posture looking all puffed up as if you were a peacock and asking me for a discount based on the no issues you pointed out, so you wouldn't leave for the hotel you had already booked. You, Throwing it in my face that you wrote more than 300 reviews and that if I wanted you to put everything in one review! On your age, William Wingert!! Really!?! What a role you decided to play!! 🤦‍♂️ Believe that was embarrassing for me to see you on that role saying all that you said to me! 🙄 William, you have knocked the wrong door to try your plan on discount. I don’t play with people like you William, and at night I sleep well, and I don’t dream of you the way you dream of me! 🤭 Anyway, and in between us now that no one can “listen” 😉 let me tell you that I'm used to having people dream about me but… for other reasons 🤭🤫 Take care of yourself William Wingert. Seriously!

Like poor student accomadation but expensive. Zaza bed and breakfast was a great disappointment. The room was cramped and in need of updating. The ensuite bathroom was very poor, with mould and mildew on the walls and around the shower. The bath room door could not be closed as it got stuck on the floor and the inside handle came away as it was not fixed to the door, the screws had obviously fallen out. Luis did say he would repair it but he did not. See pictures. The shower head needd to be changed as the water did not come out as a shower but as a gush of water like from a tap. Mountain goat access The access is difficult, you need to go up a number of steps about 100 to get to the door. Then three narrow steep steps to get to our room. Not advisable if you are elderly. Ok if you are a mountain goat. Cheap poor breakfast The breakfast was not too appealing we were put off by the fruit salad it was fizzy and frothy, This happens if it has been made for a few days, the fruit starts to ferment. The cheese and ham were cheap and unappealing. You could have an egg but you were rationed to just one egg per person. That is the rule of a cheapskate. Noisy and poor sleep The room was very noisy, with loud street noise untill 3 am. signing, vomitting and shouting. We could not sleep until the early hours. Good view, nice chap. We booked for 6 days but left after two days as we could not bear it any longer. Luis was not willing to give us a refund. On the plus side it is central and the room had a good view. Luis himself is quite pesonable and did help with the luggage in and out. Tight wad, be warned. The overall impression is that Luis is just in it for the money and dosent really care about the property and customer statisfaction. This is obvious as he has not spent money on the property to keep it in good repair and unwilling to give a refund. Now this property has many good reviews and Luis will no doubt write a long rebuttable as he does. But I do note that others have had the same complaints as we did going back to 2017. One of his replies to someone who complained of mould 6 years ago said it was mildew, both are unpleasant and can be health risk. Danger to health The distinction between mildew vs. mold is that mildew grows on visible surfaces, whereas mold may develop anywhere. Mold is also more prevalent than mildew, creating more health risks. Mildew isn’t as dangerous as mold but may still harm textiles and other materials. Though mold carries more health risks, you must act right away if you encounter either of these in your home. Both mold and mildew can elicit health concerns if exposed to excessive quantities, so getting rid of them as soon as possible is critical. It’s highly recommended that you contact a professional to assist with mold removal. Fair and even handed reviews. If you read my other reviews you will see they are fair. I am factual, very complimentry when things are good and state the bad points when poor.

This was my first visit to Lisbon and it could not have been a more welcoming and great experience. The b&b was comfortable and a great location for sightseeing and meals. Luis and his crew were wonderful hosts and helped us plan a great couple of days exploring the city. I already have a list of more to explore on my next trip to Lisbon.

The location is perfect, practically next door to the Rossio Train Station. Expect to climb a a lot of steps to get to B&B Zuzabed - as the pedestrian street, Calçada do Duque has over 200 steps. We didn't mind because it helped us burn off the calories from eating too many pasteiss de nata.. lol. Also the narrow stairs to climb up to the terrace rooms- if you have limited mobility issues, this might not be the place for you. The room and bathroom is quite small however, the bed is very comfortable and we weren't spending much time in the room to care about the tight quarters. Having access to the terrace was a delightful and lovely spot to enjoy coffee, a glass of wine or to enjoy looking at the stars at night. Breakfast was wonderfully presented, with eggs made to order, muesli, fresh fruit, and sweet biscuits and breads. Luis was a fantastic host, he was there to assist and helped us by calling a hotel in Cascais where I had left a personal item. His help was invaluable to us. He also presented me and my partner with a birthday surprise at a lovely wine bar. THAT was so special and very unexpected but much appreciated. ZuzaB&B is a delightful place to stay in Lisbon and Luis is the one who makes it special.

This was my second time to Lisbon and second time staying at ZuzaBed. The location is fabulous. It’s located on a pedestrian street, steps from several restaurants and nightlife, and close to lots of tourist sites. Breakfast is fabulous and the best part is the owner, Luis. He made me feel at home, like a member of his family, and is eager to help with dinner reservations, taxis, day trips, whatever you need. As a solo female traveler he helped me feel safe and welcomed. I will definitely stay here again.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to stay at Zuza B&B. From the moment we touched down in Lisboa, Luis was in touch with us guiding us to his place. He met us on the street and carried my suitcase to our room and then showed up advocating for us over and over as the airline lost my husband’s suitcase. It turned into 5 days of pursuit but Luis never gave up and finally helped us to retrieve it. I don’t know if it would have happened without his help! Sharing a delicious breakfast with him and the other guests was such a wonderful way to start our days. Luis would get out his phone and show us very specifically how to get around the city while making excellent recommendations about where to go and what to do. We truly made a friend and felt so welcomed. Also, the location was great and there were so many excellent restaurants and fun things to do and see close by! I hope to go back someday as I loved Lisboa and especially enjoyed its people!

A friend and I stayed in one of the terrace rooms in late December. This was my first time in Lisbon. My initial impression of Zuzabed was that it was incredibly charming, in a great location and had an AMAZING view of the city. Upon meeting the owner Luis, I was impressed by how helpful, accommodating, and friendly he was. Simply put, you're in wonderful hands with Luis. He is super helpful, incredibly warm and helps you feel right at home within moments of meeting him. I couldn't have asked for a nicer or more gracious host. The terrace room we were in had a wonderful view of the city, including the castle at the top of the hill. Even from inside our room, there's a window that perfectly frames the beautiful city. I very much miss that view. The room itself was cute and cozy. In the morning, the breakfast spread that is provided downstairs is a delight. We couldn't have asked for a better way to start our day. It was as delicious as it was plentiful...it's a very impressive spread. I absolutely loved everything we had (the freshly squeezed orange juice was among the best I've ever had). Overall, I would highly recommend Zuzabed. As I mentioned before, the location is perfect. The accommodations are excellent and the owner Luis is once the nicest and most helpful people you could ever hope to meet.
