Torel Palace Lisbon, nestled in the heart of the city, is celebrated for its prime location and serene atmosphere with panoramic views, despite the occasional challenging ascent mentioned by a guest. While the rooms are generally admired for their spaciousness and opulent touches, some visitors have noted that standard rooms can feel cramped and pointed out maintenance issues. The hotel's atmosphere draws compliments for its stylish elegance and quiet luxury. Cleanliness stands out, with guests consistently satisfied with the pristine conditions. Service at Torel Palace is frequently lauded, with staff members recognized for their exceptional dedication to guest comfort. The amenities enhance the stay with their comfort and views, although a few guests suggest the need for additional improvements. However, the hotel's value proposition has been questioned, with some guests feeling that the experience does not fully justify the price point.

Our stay of 4 nights at the Torel Palace in Lisbon has been absolutely glorious and exquisite. The hotel in itself is a treat to look at, classic architecture, beautiful design all over, incredible views, gorgeous gardens.

They are doing some remodeling work at the moment, which in all honesty did not interfere with our stay one bit. We cannot wait to come back and see what everything looks like after they are finished.

The team there were all absolutely helpful and kind, spoke perfect English, in addition to many other languages. Their black pavillion, their restaurant, is a gorgeous sunroom with fantastic views of the city and delicious food. We got upgraded to their penthouse, a whole apartment for us, exquisitely decorated, impeccably clean, with everything that one would need for a trip to Lisbon.

This has been hands down one of the best experiences ever thanks to all the crew at the hotel, and we travel extensively.

Thanks to everyone at Torel Palace, you guys have made this a super special trip, we cannot wait to come back, and we will without a doubt stay with you guys again.

We were looking forward to our 4 night stay at Torel Palace Hotel based on the rave reviews. Reading reviews that all rooms have a view was unfortunately not true for us.

We made the reservation for 6 nights already back in October via a booking agency with special offer, standard room with possibility of free upgrade, when available. We changed the reservation in February from 6 to 4 nights as we decided to visit Cascais (Albatroz, reviewed separately).

We arrived late evening due to flight delay and we managed to eat in the restaurant before going to the room. It had been a long travel day and we were eager to get to bed and sleep. It was only next morning that we saw that our view from the room was overlooking rubbish containers. The room was located next to the gate at entrance of the property, and not at the back where everyone is sharing comments on the spectacular view from all rooms, towards the sea or across the city.

Unfortunately we’ve been wakened a couple of times each night due to rubbish containers being emptied and the street cleaners. Also street cleaners standing opposite front entrance of hotel having a chat at 4 am in the morning. Our nights have not been peaceful. The room itself was small, and also a queen size bed did not lend to any type of extra comfort. The hotel advertise the standard room as good for a short stay. I don’t think 4 nights stay would fall under this category and would have imagined having made the reservation already last year, a better room would have been available.

Also, avoid ordering a cocktail. Perhaps the normal bar staff had the night off but I returned a Bloody Mary and asked them to remove the charge as it was nothing more than a tumbler of ice vodka and tomato juice, without any garnishes. I asked the waiter if he could bring a bar spoon to stir the drink and he appeared with a napkin containing a wooden fork and straw.

Really I expect much more from a luxury boutique hotel. This hotel would be better described as an upscale B&B.

To end with some positive notes we found the staff to be excellent, very friendly and very service minded. The outside grounds of the hotel are also very beautiful. It was a pity that here was no waiter service outside as the weather was hot and sunny. At night there is also no atmosphere sitting outside on the panoramic lounge area. Enjoying a nice drink at this area of the hotel needs attention.

Would we go back? No, there are much nicer hotels for this price right across Lisbon.

Traveling to Italy and planned on spending a night here at Torel Palace. Coronavirus canceled our entire trip as US has strict restrictions on traveling outside of country. Customer Service here refused refund and even began mocking me in back and forth emails, by saying that one person's bad review would not hurt their hotel's reputation. Very rude and not understanding at all of what the world is going through right now. They were the only hotel out of 3 that would not do a full refund. Every other hotel (even though Non-refundable tickets were purchased at all three) were willing to refund no questions due to the current status of the world. My husband and I made the conscious decision to cancel regardless of getting refunded, it really isn't about the money when our families health is involved or could be at risk. But the way this hotel handled the situation was disgusting. I cant imagine that their hotel would be a place I would ever want to visit. Really put a poor taste in my mouth for travel to Portugal overall.

Wow! Where do I start! Torel Palace is stunning! Such a beautiful hotel, in a great location; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted, checked-in and offered a welcome drink on the terrace. Our room was fabulous; a big comfortable bed, a huge wardrobe to store our clothes and a really lovely, clean bathroom. Fresh towels were provided each day and the room was serviced/cleaned each day too. Breakfast was included in our stay, which we didn’t realise and was a nice surprise. There’s lots of choice; cereals, fruits, hot food and a great selection of drinks. The grounds of the hotel are stunning; there is a beautiful terrace with an amazing view of the city and the pool area is lovely too - we did have a dip in the pool but it was a little chilly! On the day we checked out, we had a super early flight in the morning and we booked a taxi through reception to take us back to the airport, nothing was too much trouble for them. A huge shout out to the staff too; super friendly, and the service was great from everyone. The location is good; you are literally a minutes walk from The Elevador do Lavra which takes you straight down into the town. There so much to see and do in Lisbon! We would not hesitate if we visited again to stay at Torel; we had a truly wonderful stay. Thank you!

This is the second Torel we've stayed in (first was Torel 1884 in Porto also fab!).
It was a faultless stay in Lisbon really. The staff are a real credit to both Torels - all staff are always friendly, helpful and approachable and you get the feeling that it's important to them that you really enjoy your stay.
We were lucky enough to be in the 2 bed apartment with a small balcony and views over the city. The apartment was very large, beautifully designed, clean and modern with a great kitchen area, very comfy beds and pillows, stunning marble bathrooms.
Although it's not a cheap place to stay you certainly get value for money as it's a beautiful hotel both inside and out. We found the drinks and food (even the mini bar) to be very reasonably priced. The breakfast was great and a varied mix of continental and eggs to your order if you like, lots of lovely pastries and cakes too! Food on the rooftop bar was excellent quality for a modern take on tapas and we had an amazing chocolate tart too.
It really was a wonderful boutique hotel with 5 star service and a beautiful design. It's a little oasis from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon but just a short walk to the Avenida (though a steep hill on the way back!). We loved the calmness of the hotel and we'd return in a heartbeat.

Located just dead center in Lisboa you have this small, but very well maintained Hotel with three guesthouses and a small pool. The view from the pool/terrace is outstanding.
Rooms are modern, clean and - for the price - larger than expected.
Breakfast was ok, probably as good as you can do during Covid safety rules.
Two downsides, location looks good on a map but its kind of on its own hill. Whatever you do you have to take an extra climb. Given that Lisboa is nowhere flat this wasnt much of an issue to us. The breakfast starting at 8.30 was tho. Every sightseeing place is pretty crowded and you should be there at 10 or earlier. This might have you skip breakfast or rush it.
Total: 4.5/5 for us, friendly staff made us round up.

The view was fantastic from our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our reservation at a restaurant in Lisbon on Xmas eve turned out to be at a closed restaurant. We turned lemons into lemonade as we returned to the Torel and they served us dinner in a private room off the main dining area to accommodate our misfortune. Turned out to be a memorable night Will return again

Could be so much better, appears not interested. Lacking a strict or organized management team the property doesn’t exceed in any of the areas which make a great property. Cleanliness, competence, deliciousness of breakfast or atmosphere failed to impress us during our stay, which is a shame as our holiday days are so precious.

Nothing personal, but maybe the owners should take a week and go daily through the rooms with a fine eye and imagine themselves in the shoes of the guests. It’s not very welcoming walking through the stained carpet hallways, to enter your room and see a shaggy rug with hair all over it on the floor around the bed, hair all over the blanket on the bed. The breakfast area was really unsanitary, dead flies all along the wall, used tissues from the night before and of course just dirt. In spite of coronavirus, other hotels during this stay have done it better. Scheduled breakfast slots can allow for a rather rather normal and relaxing experience. Rather than all just conversing together in the dirty winter garden, dining on such tasteless and boring things. I felt like back in university, rather than on holiday.
Shame actually, could be so much more.

We are currently staying at the Torel Palace; a boutique hotel perched in a fantastic location above Lisbon. From our arrival we were made to feel very welcome - the staff are wonderful - extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. We are here for my husband's birthday, and they gave us a delicious bottle of port to celebrate this event. Our room is very pleasant (room 19), uniquely decorated and full of personality, if a bit tired and in need of some touch-ups (mold on the grout of the shower, wobbly tap at the sink, etc.). The breakfast is delicious, as is the food in the main restaurant. Be aware, this hotel is set in an old building, and you can hear the creaks and groans typical of such; people walking above, the lift next door etc. Our only complaint would be is that we are on the first floor, overlooking the new bar area in the courtyard. The music at the bar starts at around 8am every morning, and continues all day, until midnight. This filters through the whole room, even with the windows closed. We did ask to be moved, but unfortunately we were told the hotel is full, which is not surprising, considering its location and popularity. It is worth asking for a room higher up, away from this music, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Open, yes. Heated, no. It's a salt water pool that is designed to be "refreshing", which is to say at ambient temperature, so it's definitely something you'll want to use to cool off.

Sonia The hotel is on the slopes above the central Avenida Liberdade , one of the premier shopping streets in Lisbon. You can use the funicular tram located 100 mtrs from the hotel to carry you down to the centre of the city, a steep hill and a gard walk back up if you miss the last team at 2000. Buy a day ticket at one of the jogos outlets as to pay a return for each trip can be expensive. The centre all the way down to the Tagus river is awash with restaurants and bars. Try Brasillieira. One of the best fish restaurants in Lisbon is only 5 mtrs from the bottom of your tram. On the hill on the opposite side of Avenida is the Alto Bairo where there are literally thousands of shops , restaurants, bars , cafés etc
