I loved the location of this hotel, I really don't like to take the metro when i'm trying to discover a city. I could do every thing walking and that was just perfect. I had a little problem when I arrived, beacause they sent me to a back yard little room where there was a bad smell comming from the...

Receptionist Carina at the Hotel Borges Chiado was extremely helpful, going over and beyond expectations when my passport was stolen in Lisbon. She assisted in notifying the police, arranging accommodation for our extended stay in Portugal, and contacting the airline. We highly recommend this hotel and it's helpful and pleasant staff.

Location is amazing. In the middle of Chiado. Walking distance to subway, shopping, restaurants and bars. The hotel is in bad shape, worn out, very old bathrooms, and very noisy. Big groups coming and going. Service is pretty bad. Breakfast is very scarce. Great price, but you pay for what you get. Would never go back.

This is a Lisbon hotel extremely popular among mainly younger clientele. It offers very basic, but quite decent accommodation. However, not all the rooms are of same quality: some have been renovated, others (e.g. on the second floor) are pretty shabby. Officially 3 stars, but in fact only 2+ with a hostel type atmosphere. Organisation in a rather small breakfast...

Same as other reviewers, great location. Central to everything and next to the metro station. Perfect. Booked a twin and triple for the 5 people for 3 nights which worked out at about £25 each with breakfast. Excellent value. Rooms are spacious and clean. Not luxurious but better than the photos which gives the impression that its shabby. It's not....

The City district Chiado is central to the excitement of this City. Hotel Borges Chiado is very well placed to it. The only minus factotin this slightly over budget lodgement is the quite overcrowded breakfast hall on mornings.

It has very good localization, the subway station Chiado is in front of this. Doesn't have luxury, the bed is good, the bathroom is clean.. The room is confortable. The breakfast is really very simple. Doesn't have internet, you can pay 5 euros/day if you want to use. It's near to Augusta's Street, Commerce Square, Saint George and many others...

I should probably start this review with the fact that I paid £55 TOTAL for 2 nights in this hotel (2 people+ good quality breakfast each morning). Sooo, I do not think I have any right to complain. Plus, there is nothing to complain about, really. Basic- yes, but in fantastic location, right by Baixa-Chiado subway station with great link...

This hotel cost us £32 a night on booking.com including breakfast. What a bargain!! It is such an amazing location - right in the centre of Lisbon and everything is within walking distance. We did do the tour on the 28E tram (tram and metro stop literally a few paces away from the hotel) which is good fun but not...

I stayed at the Borges for 8 nights during January 2015 (research trip) and I was happy to have chosen this hotel as my night's lodging. I had some requests before my stay (such as the need of a calm room with a balcony, the demand of a fridge, etc.) which I sent via Email and all of these were...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
