Detailed Reviews
Travelling with my wife for a weeks break in the sun, which certainly did shine on us being 38 deg most of the week.
All the staff at the hotel were fabulous and would go out of their way to help or assist with any issues , which were minimal.
As our flight was delayed we did not arrive unitl 01.30, but still staff were there to greet us and make us feel at home.
The location of the hotel is not to far away from the centre of Lisbon with all of it's sights and tourists, with the quaint streets and old parts of the picturesque city, although the nearest metro station is a good walk for some people and being all uphill on the way back in the heat this is sometimes not easy.
TIP get the shuttle one way.
The rooms were spacious and generally clean with the towels and bedding changed on a daily basis, the bed was very comfortable, just like being at home. If I had to pick fault it would be that the air conditioning wasn't very effective and noisy, some dirty grout in the shower and the headboard was badly worn.
With regards to the food this was excellent and very plentiful, as it is available on a "help yourself buffet" and therefore you did not go hungry, my personal taste it could have been a bit hotter.
Relaxing in the evening on the rooftop bar was ideal for the evening wind down whilst enjoying a beautifully prepared sangria, available in red or white!
Overall this was a lovely hotel and ALL of the staff there were friendly and helpful and a credit to the hotel.

Dear Mr. Nic, Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us at Smy Lisboa and taking the time and care to leave us your wonderful review. We are thrilled to understand your stay with us was so remarkable, from the location, evolving area and shuttle services. We are also very satisfied to read that the comfort and cleanliness matched your expectations! It saddens us, however, that some technical and maintenance issues did not allow your stay to be perfect! We are working on these improvements. Regarding the food and drinks services, we can see these were the topics you enjoyed the most, which is wonderful. Last but not least, our staff takes great joy in reading your kind recognition of their service, as they strive for the best, every day. Hopefully, we will have the chance to welcome you and your lovely wife, once again, Mr. Nic! Kindest regards, Teodora Stratulat Reservations Dep.

I stayed overnight at Smy Lisboa 28th January 2022. I found the hotel extremely welcoming and the staff so friendly and helpful. Probably one of the comfiest beds I've slept in and the pillows second to none! Rooms are modern, no noise so you get a good nights sleep and a powerful shower! The location of the hotel is great too, just around the corner from the TRAM stop where you can catch one of those lovely yellow rickerty trams that take you to the centre. I walked back through Avenida Liberdade but you can do it the other way round, walk down to the centre and get the TRAM back. Taxi ride to the airport is approx 25eu The hotel was kind enought to make a packed breakfast as i had a morning flight out! One to recommend for sure!

The staff are polite and very kind, especially Amanda. They will go out of their way to help you.
As per previous review, the bed headboard material is shredding, and the room needs remodelling. The shuttle service wasnât available on Sunday and Monday, but the taxis were reasonably priced for us to get around.
The breakfast choice is good, perhaps have more hot food breakfast time for vegans.
On check out we were told that we used 2 bottles of sparkling water from the fridge (which we never did)
Also, coming from the airport to the hotel we were charged 25⏠as a "fixed fee" when it should have been about 13⏠on the meter.

The property is small and room size is questionable Bathrooms are very small and does require rethinking of the design. The building is split with glass partion at every level which is disaster to get from one section of the floor to another if you have family and friends staying at same hotel on different floors. The Parking is complete mess every time you have get out the guest have to take the front office staff to open the gate. There is no mechanism of remotely opening the door which increases quite some time upto 30 mins to take you car out as front desk staff has guest most of the time at the desk. Overall the place requires lot of rethinking on how they would possibly operate going forward in this hyper competitive market and we would not recommend any families to book there stays at this property going forward.

Dear Occidental Guest, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at Occidental Lisboa hotel, please rest assured that your comments have been taken onboard and revised by the entire Management team, however we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. At Occidental Lisboa, there are available various typologies that can be found throughout the hotel, in our hotel there is the possibility to choose view as well as room features in just one floor, should we have been contacted, we would have been able to strategically put you, your friends and family as close as possible, like it happens with most of the families that we welcome in our hotel. We do recommend, for a second experience, to visit our website, or to contact our call center for any required information, there could be an exact room adapted to your needs and expectations. We are located in the city center, about 25 minutes (walking distance) away from the old part of the city, every public car park in Lisboa surrounding this area is paid until 1 AM, for that matters, we offer a parking service very near to our Hotel, for safety reasons, and only during the weekend, the parking door is managed from the front desk, however we do also give the chance of vallet parking, it is offered to our guests the possibility to park and pick up the car. Nevertheless we cannot allow guests to leave with a feeling of dissatisfaction. For this reasons, the items mentioned will be discussed with our teams to see how we can improve. We would also like to take this opportunity to have the possibility of a new visit, in order to prove what Occidental Lisboa service, is really all about With our best regards

I booked the room for my family who were visiting for the first time, the Hotel was lovely but when we got to the room its smell really bad, we open the window to see the view all we could see was kitchen air vent all the air con units fan blowing hot air which was the whole trip worse.
It was out first ever trip and was really disappointed, we ever reach out to the hotel about our stay and we were told that nothing could be done because we didn't complained to the hotel, the hotel refuse to take any responsibility of the smell and noise we had to endure during our first ever trip.
We try and write to the hotel again but have not heard anything back, We think the level of customer care and value of their experience is rather neglected.
Regards,
Irfan.

My opinion is that this hotel is far from center, city life and portoguese movida..far away from everything. Although everything is easily reachable with taxi or Ubers
Tried to explore the surroundings and didnât find much interesting things
My suggestion is to spend some more money next city center rather spending it in taxi.
Rooms are quite small and our bath was over flooding duo some pipeline issues.
Breakfast was not included in our case but came with an extra charge of 15 euro pp.
Anyway the staff at the concierge were polite and helpful and helped us to plan our trip.
I would come back but I would rather rent a car or bike

Dear guest, Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us at Smy Lisboa and taking the time and care to leave us your kind review. We are very glad to understand you've found our staff kind and helpful. They do try their best to accommodate our guests. Nevertheless, we are sorry to read that you considered our location too far from the center. Nowadays, we have a free shuttle service from the hotel to the center, which we believe helps. Other than that, a good deal of public transportation can be found just by the hotel. We hope we will be able to welcome you, once again! Kindest regards, Teodora Stratulat Reservations Dep.

The stay in Lisbon has been ruined. We were given a room with the smell of rotten eggs. The problem was not solved by the reception for 3 to 4 days of our stay. Due to the smell and overall 'cleanliness' of the room, I had an asthma attack, which led to sleepless nights. Please also note that there is an airport nearby, which also influenced the sleep quality. The receptionists were lazy and unfriendly, unwilling to help us solve the problem. We were given a room right next to the one we had before, which did not have any smell. In the morning, we noticed that there was already a person living in the room with the horrible smell, which showcases that the hotel doesnât care about putting people in unsanitary conditions. My partner and I were on the verge of leaving the hotel and asking for a full refund. Genuinely the hotel doesnât deserve the 4-star rating. For your own safety, do not stay in room 815.
The room looked scrappy. The first thing we noticed was the presence of black mold in the bathroom. The receptionist mentioned that they have not done any restoration work in the room, but why they allow people to live there continuously is still a question. The sofa looked like it had been left on the streets for homeless people to sleep on. The lamps next to the bed were not working at all, there was a red stain on the wall of God knows what, the bed was scraped (poor choice of material), the table had wood chipped off, and the toilet plunger was located next to the toilet paper (which was probably contaminated; this was not the case in the other room).
A word about the breakfasts: they are worthless and offer a small selection. Once, there were green beans served instead of the red ones. Once again, the hotel shows a careless attitude towards the customers.
Overall, the hotel might look charming on the outside, but be very cautious when choosing this hotel. Out of the ÂŁ250 refund requested, only ÂŁ38.22 was credited to my account. Keeping in mind my condition was put in danger, I think itâs radically unacceptable.

Dear Valerijs, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We deeply value the opinions of our guests and are always striving to improve the experience we offer. We have taken note of your comments regarding the condition of the room, as well as the issues you mentioned with cleanliness and the facilities. We would also like to clarify the situation during your stay. On 15/07, you informed our reception about an unpleasant smell in your room. We promptly arranged for maintenance to address the issue and advised you to pack your belongings in case a room change was necessary. Due to your belongings not being packed, we were unable to relocate you that same day, which resulted in the room change being completed on 16/07. Additionally, we offered a complimentary upgrade to enhance your stay. We understand the importance of a comfortable and pleasant stay, and your feedback will help us address the areas that need attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an improved experience. Best regards, Duane Lynch Front Office Manager Smy Lisboa Hotel

Pros:
The room is nice, large, and comfortable, big bed, comfy pillows, and many TV channels. Wide variety of food for breakfast. Everyday cleaning. Big panoramic windows, with planes flying in front of you all day long. And night. You may lay in your bed and enjoy planes passing by. Beautiful and very spacious terrace with a table perfect to drink wine, but without wine glasses. It takes you 20 minutes up to the hill to get to the hotel from the metro, but there is a bus station very close to the hotel, and also the hotel has its own transfer to the city centre.
Cons:
No wine glasses, but you may buy your own for 1 euro in the shop next to the hotel. Leaking shower. If you choose a room with a terrace be ready to listen to the plane's engine noise. Breakfast coffee tastes like an instant. Duvet covers are made of two sheets.

The bed is comfortable but the overall bedrooms need remodelling. We listened to a weird noise all night long too. We stay for two nights and we asked to change rooms after the first night. The lady at the reception was nice but in the next day when we asked to get into the new bedroom the other guy at the reception asked us if it was due to the single bed (we are a couple), which we answered No (we want to keep it). When I said that the first bedroom was in a bad shape he just didnât care. Funny thing is that the new bedroom was the same crap as the previous one. Plus, in the first bedroom, short person cannot reach the window to open it, and the shower gel was missing in the two bedrooms too. It was our second time there but never again.

Recently stayed at the SMY Lisboa for 4 nights with my friend for our Lisbon city break. Itâs a lovely hotel staff are really friendly and extremely helpful from giving us travel tips to arranging taxis for us. The hotel is approx 20min walk from the centre it is downhill so quite a nice walk however the hotel offers a shuttle which we used most days and would be lost without it .
Big shout out to Rafael the shuttle bus driver such a nice guy couldnât do enough to help us get around, gave us advice on the different types of transport to get around and recommended amazing tourist spots for us to visit ! He really helped make our trip amazing !
Would 100% recommend staying here !

Dear Tony S,
Thank you for your interest in our Hotel Occidental Lisboa,
Regarding your question, if you get off at S. SebastiĂŁo, you have a 7 minute walk until our hotel, or if your prefer, there is bus number 713 and 742, from S. SebastiĂŁo it is 2 bus stops
It is the closest subway station from our Hotel, you also have Marques de Pombal station, but from S. SebastiĂŁo it is direct line from the airport (red line)
Best regards
Bonjour Babouratibus,
Cordialement,
