Located in one of the tipical narrow streets of the baixa, in the most lively and central area of Lisbon a few metres from the airportshuttle stop. The entrance might mislead you since it's very small and there's the tipical electronic indian shop on the right side but when you up everything changes. We booked a double room with shared...

Location great - Close to airbus stop at Restauradores, walking distance to central Lisbon attractions, street full of cafes etc outside the door. Little English from friendly staff at reception though they try hard, and need to ring at reception to be let into rooms 24 hrs. Clean but basic, some rooms / bathrooms v spacious. A fair bit of...

The Flor de Baixa is centrally located in Lisbon. We arrived. Ga 4:30 pm and checked in a took a wonderful hile to St. Georges castle...1/2 hr.... to catch the sunset and panorama of pictoresque Lisbon. On our way down we ate locally at a stand up bar and wandered back drinking Ginga all the way! What a great way...

the pensao is very well located, in the middle of the center of lisbon, although it is in one of the most hectic restaurant-streets in the center, the noise stops around midnight. we had difficulties finding the entrance, because it is located in the second floor. we had some problems with our reservation, due to the fact that there's no...

I stayed at Flor da Baixa for 5 nights and in spite its fine location (city centre and near metro) I must admit it was one of the most terrible places I ever stayed in. I do stay in pensiones and hostels when I'm in Europe and I never expected a kind of "first class apartement", but it was smth...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
