Booked this on reviews and the house did not disappoint. The quinta and grounds are both lovely and are about halfway between Funchal and Monte. Breakfast is nice with rolls, ham, cheese and jam, and the little honesty bar is a good touch next to the balcony. The only thing wrong is the lack of restaurants nearby and the lack...

Really lovely B&B decorated very tastefully with antiques. Big, light and airy rooms; balcony with a view to the sea and hills; lovely breakfast with homemade jam, bread, cheese, ham, yogurt and fruit. Buses to town are quick and quite frequent. Couple speaks little English though. Wifi works best in dining room.

For our first 3 days of a 10 week European trip we chose Quinta de Fonte. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Delightful older hosts who had lovingly restored it over 2 decades ago and filled it with antiques. We stayed just after the Madeira Flower festival and the gardens were magnificent. Great views of the Funchal down to...

Quinta da Fonte is a beautiful historic house with a lovely garden and spectacular views. We stayed for a week in room 3 and found it comfortable, cool and quiet (other the barking of the local dogs in the evening, something beyond the owners control!) Towels and linen were changed frequently and the room serviced. There is just a hand-held...

Very welcoming and kind owners--we felt as though we were visiting family. Gardens offer a peaceful retreat, and our room revealed an exceptional stunning distant view of the hills leading down to the marina and ocean. Magical at sunset as the lights twinkle across the city. A very good breakfast under a crystal chandelier including homemade jams and fresh fruit...

This is a very atmospheric, traditional small Quinta, on the hill above Funchal, but below Monte. Even in January it was clad with flowers and very peaceful. It is on a bus route but is only conveniently located if you have a hire car, as it is beyond walking distance from the town, and only restaurants, with only a small...

Amazing small hotel, like stepping into a museum. Beautiful gardens with incredible views of Funchal. The family who own it were really friendly and extremely helpful for planning all aspects of our holiday. The hotel is slightly out of the centre but the buses are reliable, frequent and very easy to get the hang of. Can't recommend enough.
