Location of hotel is excellent with many Funchal sites very close by. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am a handicapped man, and the staff were kind to help me out with all requests. The breakfast selections were wonderful and changed up a bit each day. The rooftop bar was a haven of relaxation with great views of city. The hotel lobby area is very nicely appointed with many antiques great for photos. The hotel's restaurants were close by, and food was healthy and filling with many local favorite dishes. Improvements could be made in the following areas: 1. Hand sanitizer station should be placed as you enter breakfast room. 2. Housekeeping needs to check items in room to see if items need to be replaced, towels renewed, etc. Many requests I had to front desk to housekeeping were not fulfilled! 3. Air conditioning in room was very weak. Could not get room cooled off. It helped that window opens for the air outside was cooler than in the room. Despite the above items, I would return to this hotel anytime and would highly recommend this hotel any visit to Madeira. Thank you for a lovely visit!

I had the pleasure to stay here for 2 weeks over Christmas . The hotel has great reviews so I thought I would enjoy my stay but I must say it exceeded all my expectations.The staff throughout the hotel without exception are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble . They made every effort possible to make my stay as perfect as possible from supplying me with soya milk for my room to organising trips and finding restaurants etc.etc. everyone goes above and beyond . My room was very comfortable and clean and had everything I needed. Considering it is a city centre location it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I was on the 5th floor near the terrace bar and was never disturbed . The terrace is a beautiful place to sit at any time of day and the views are superb. The location of the hotel couldn`t be any better .Its so easy to access all parts of Funchal from there . The interior of the hotel is beautifully furnished and decorated. I didnt use the pool and spa myself but was given a guided tour and it`s also a very pleasing,relaxing area if you wanted a swim or treatments. Breakfast selection was very good and varied slightly every day. There was definitely something for everyone . I will return to Funchal and wouldnt consider stating anywhere else .

You continue to be the true treasure of Sé Boutique. Your superbly informed, helpful, upbeat & kind Reception Team (Priscila, Fatima, Ana B, Pedro C & Pedro) went out of their ways to assist customers, even those demanding ones whom they handled with patience & care. Alexandrina (guest ambassador) is always welcoming with a smile.
In the green breakfast room, Ana, Kevin, Judy and Joao were helpful and courteous to guests. Cozinha Gadi often came up with delicious offerings, for example, vegetarian (potato) omelette and Japanese pancake and unforgettable baking treats. The efficient & attentive Housekeeping team always sparkled our room when we request cleaning.
Ruiz's rooftop terrace bar is the place to be and to R&R after a great day of adventure around beautiful Madeira.
We were there in late April to say farewell to Ana B before she flew away to new adventures and Priscila introduced us to Ricardo.
We'll be back at Se Boutique in late September.

This was our first visit to Funchal, in fact our first time in Madeira, and we wanted to stay in a central location in Funchal near the marina, restaurants, museums etc. We couldn't have picked a better location😊 From arriving at SE Boutique Hotel, all the staff were so friendly, helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. We opted for a standard room which had a window to the internal patio rather than an external view which suited us perfectly as we were only using the room to sleep, shower and get ready to explore this fabulous city ! If we wanted an external view, we could have upgraded to a deluxe room at a cost, something some people may want to consider. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The buffet breakfast was plentiful with so much variety even if you left it until nearly 10am to go down to the green room, as we often did ! Again, all the staff in the breakfast room couldn't do enough for their visitors, and always with a smile😁 We loved their rooftop terrace & bar. A few times through our stay, we had a drink up there before going out for an evening meal. We could imagine how lovely it must be to sit up there on a Summers evening. We asked Priscilla to book a taxi for our return journey to the airport, and she kindly arranged for the hotel car to take us at a similar cost as a taxi. What a fabulous treat, I felt like a V.I.P, and yet again, the hotel driver was friendly and courteous. We would certainly return to SE Boutique on our next visit to Funchal. Obrigada to you all !

We recently visited Madeira for a mini break and as such stayed at the lovely Se Boutique Hotel.
The hotel is in a great location and is just minutes from the harbour, old town or the cable cars .
While we didn’t eat at the hotel’s restaurant, they always had a good number of people seated.
The hotel is quirky and fun with amazing staff who aren’t too busy to help. It also has a great rooftop bar / terrace with fabulous views of the town and sea. The bar is small so there can be a little wait for drinks if it’s busy, but the views and atmosphere more than make up for this.
The only negative that I experiences was the way the bathroom had been designed. The entire front was glass and the curtain used to draw across did not go across the entire front, there was a substantial gap - as such privacy is limited. More so as the mirrors in the bathroom reflect any views reducing privacy further. If you’re a new couple or a some friends visiting Funchal this may be an issue if you value your privacy, I would suggest that the hotel look to extend the privacy curtain so it goes all the way across.
We would definitely look to stay here again on our next visit.

This is an excellent hotel well worth a high rating with artistic, individual decor. We stayed a week in a luxurious, well-appointed room, spotlessly clean and well-maintained. Our room maid, Rosa, was friendly and helpful. In reception, from the moment we were welcomed by Fatima, the team could not have been more willing to help and offer useful advice. We enjoyed the hotel's excellent location in the Old Quarter where we could comfortably walk to every amenity we needed. Breakfast was a daily treat with a delicious buffet catering for every need and again the waiting staff were a credit to the hotel. We enjoyed the Roof Terrace Bar for a nightcap which is a magical place, again with a friendly barman. The Fado Guitar musical night was a fascinating and enjoyable extra. This is the hotel where we will stay in Funchal from now on.

Great hotel! Small, boutique vibe. The decor is eclectic -- fine art replicas on the walls, the rooftop bar has a pink flamingo style. The rooms are reasonable size, a bit spartan but comfortable. A "Deluxe" room is worth the price, comes with a small couch and a bit more space. Everything was very clean.
Breakfast is reasonable; it's a well-prepared continental with some hot items.
The staff are outstanding. From the front desk staff to the bartender at the rooftop bar, everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The Guest Ambassador, Alexandrina, reached out to us prior to our trip, and was extremely helpful with recommendations and bookings for cars, hikes, etc. Ask her for help if you need advice and/or plans.

The hotel lived up to expectations, with a cool boutique style throughout. The two rooms were perfect for our visit, very comfortable beds, TV, mini-bar and AC. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, allowing us to check our bags in before our rooms were ready, calling me when the rooms were ready and had already taken our bags up for us. The helped us with our various tours, suggested Apps we could use and places to eat and drink....a fantastic few days on this beautiful island.

We had a fabulous week here just as the city was getting ready for Christmas. So conveniently located right in the centre of the city, perfect!
Staff were pleasant.
We had a deluxe room, which is important to book if you want a room with an external window.
We didn’t like the ‘music’ we could hear from the restaurant directly below our room. But generally the rooms are fairly quiet with not much street noise which is great considering the central location.
We stayed bed and breakfast. Food was ok quite a bit of choice. Cereals and fresh bread excellent, but the cooked food could be better.
We had one meal in the restaurant. It was adequate, but expensive. Go elsewhere.
The sky bar was atmospheric with a great view. Delicious house wine but on the expensive side.
We loved the hotel and hope to return sometime.

You ask at reception for a superior room (better than a suite) The bed is king size so definitely large enough for a tall person. You should be able to get two rooms together by emailing the hotel as they are very helpful indeed.
